Maka
We are a site about achievements, and earning as many as we can, in as fast as we can. A lot of us rent games to get a lot of points in a small amount of time. The "Difficulty Rating" idea has been shot down dozens of times, so I am hear to recommend an alternative. Instead of rating the game on a 1 to 10 scale of difficulty, we could rate it on a scale of hours to complete. For example, King Kong would get 6 hours, and Burnout Revenge a 50-60. I think it would give readers good information on what game they might want to rent next. Instead of just looking at the "Quick 1000s" There will always be games like Quake 4 and Ghost Recon with Leaderboard achievements that will be "Indefined" because a large amount of skill is required. And since some people are casual gamers, while some spend hours upon hours gaming, we could have the average hours to complete, the hardcore gamer's hours and the casual gamers hours.. Just putting it out there, what do you guys think?
CovertDog
I could see that working. Have a sticky for each game and people post how long it took them to complete it. When you have like 10 (simple math for the adims. ) figure out the average. I like it.
Cross Fire
my 2 cents: for the tough games or any games you could instead of putting undefined you put the amount of time it takes to get a certain amount of points out of a game, its prolly alot more work but it will provide more information were its needed. but thats just me
Maka
Or have like a bar that goes from 0 to 1000 in 100 point incraments. And above every 100 theres an amount of hours....?

I think the bar would be very useful, but very complicated at the same time. Just have a simple topic at the top that you input your number of achievements and hours, then with some basic math you can get averages from the users putting in their numbers. Would be really helpful.
Worm99
I like the idea I think a stickied poll would work as well 0-6hrs, 6-10hrs, 10-15hrs, and so on
avengerRPM
yeah, i like the idea also. the poll idea sounds the best. and maybe having having a forum with a list of games sorted by average times would be cool. then we could look up a game to rent depending upon our free time. Zef
I like the chart idea, it would show you how many points you could expect to get within a certain time rather than saying it take x hours to get all 1000. You could rate each achievement, but that would take too long and would have a whole mess of things to fill in. I'd back the chart thingy, seems the best idea and would look better. Were you thinking I meant a poll for each achievement? I more or less meant a poll for the entire game and how long to get all of the achievements total. If this is not what you meant I apologize in advance.
Im a Manatee
I don't think a poll would work if we were to build on Maka's idea of increment ratings. 50 post posters [geewhiz!] could go into a thread, and write how many hours it would take for them to get to 100,200,300,400, etc. etc.
Cyrex
i like the idea, i would help out if i could, something like the bar idea is nice,
Low Beau
yep, I agree that would help a lot more than just the word quick or easy.
Havoced
Why not say days of play based off about 6 hours of play a day.. It would leave the whole mess of numbers out of the picture and it would still just be a general "guideline" as opposed to set in stone... I'm curious as to why difficulties are so unliked.. I think a game difficulty rated between 1-5 stars would be useful.

I think a game difficulty rated between 1-5 stars would be useful. Because most of us dont play 6 hours.... It would make everything so unecassarily confusing. A Game like Full Auto takes 6-8 Hours. For your guideline it wold be 1 day, but most gamers would complete it in about 3-4 days...
Minty
I like the idea, and think we should be able to split games down. Like have a chart and map: 250 points 500 points 750 points 1000 points That way people can see that a game they could knock a quick 500/750 points, where as the full 1000 may take some more days. And I agree basing it on 6 hours a day is wrong. I rarely play 6 hours a day- I have a life lol
Krazie
I like these ideas also, and I'd back them 100%.. Obviously it'll take some time to get everything situated since there's such a huge catalog of games now that we'll have to figure out, lol. But then again, thats why we have such a dedicated staff

Why set A "Gamer Day" use the natural 24hours >.<.. and give diffrent hours for the diffrent type of gamers.. I like the chart idea also.

Havoced
I don't play 6 hours a day either.. I play maybe 1-3 tops... I was just throwing out a number. I like the time for gamerscore markers though... As in 250, 500. 750. I think that's one of the best ideas yet.

Cyrex
haven't really understood ome of the ones before me so if this has already been suggested the i agree have a 250 500 750 1000 like havoced said and then have a normal time to get to each of those markers, so like PDZ it would 250 2 hours and 100 like 1000 hours (i have never played PDZ so i have no idea about the times)
