I was just wondering how many people found all 100 without a guide. I found 98/100 and after searching for hours i finally decided to use a guide.

So how many of you guys found them all without a guide and how long did it take.

If you didnt find them all with a guide how many did you find before giving up and using a guide?

No I did most of them myself but could'nt find two so I left it sometime after Mothership came out then I decided to use a video guide and followed all the way through until I found the 2 missing.

I used the web site as well. I got stuck with 10 left to go and said screw it.

I found 99 of them by myself. I had to look up a guide for that last one because I didn't see it buried in the dirt where the radiated barrels are.

I found 97 without a guide, and I hadn't noticed the hole in the fence after you go to the yard.

I found most of them but I presumed they were all in the steelyard (except for the three in the first area) ... So I check the guide and it turns out there are more in the building with the protectrons outside it. But didn't find them using the guide. I just used it to push me in the right direction.

I'll admit, I carefully followed a video guide. If I tried finding them all on my own, I'd probably risk missing others in my efforts.

I was missing about seven before I broke down and looked at a YouTube video on it lol

Guide all the way. I know I'm not good enough to find all of them, and that finding a few would just confuse me, so I copy/paste the list into word and delete them as I find them. :D

You all can take all the pride you want in not using a guide. I feel no shame in admitting that I hate collectable achievements with a passion (Assassin's Creed will do that for you), and because of that I used a guide to speed it up.

Hell no, I always use a guide. I hate it when you've got collectibles that if you miss you cant' get back to. For that reason I always read up before I start.

I hate collectible achievements but these weren't too hard to find at all.

I found ~90 legit but had to use a guide to find the remaining steel ingots.

I found 73 on my own, needed the guide for the rest. After my first pass through for some reason I thought the rest were in the Pitt Underground tunnel thing by the freight trains that required a key.

There really isn't anything quite like performing menial labor to ruin a game...

I honestly found all 100 ingots without a guide. I must have spent 5 hours and this was on release

i first played the game on my buddy's ps3 and found maybe 20 or so. i really don't remember.

when i bought the game for my xbox, i fired up the video as soon as i walked through that door to start collecting. there was no way i was going to deal with that headache. like jdmbo1 said "5 hours." no way would i do that for something as trivial. i just don't have the patience.

Using a guide saves so much time, why wouldnt i use it? For boring collectables like that, i always use a guide

I used a guide and it took me about 2 hours to find all 100. No way would I try this without a guide. I don't have enough patience.

Collectable achievements are just another attempt by untalented devs to force a longer play time and/or multiple plays through the content. A truly talented writer could make the game interesting enough to make me WANT to collect all of these items. I haven't found a collections achievement yet that does that.

Guide from the start.

So Bethesda isn't talented because of this one achievement? You did play the rest of the game didn't you? This may be the case in lower quality games but I don't think it's the only reason these types of achievements exist. The fact that it is an achievement is enough to make me want to collect them, and I'm guessing the same for you since you have done it.

Now I haven't got to this part yet but I do plan to use a guide from the start. lol

Oh bloody hell no. I found about 30 on my own just wandering but there's no way I would have found them all. Took me about 25-30 minutes with the guide video.

I'm not a fan of pointless collectibles, but the armour you get for trading these in makes them worthwhile! :woop:

I got into the low 40's. But like you, I couldn't hold off on a guide for much longer. Other things to do...

Just used the picture guide and it took about an hour to get all 100. Not too bad, 20g isn't the best reward though.

I got all 100 but the game glitched and I didn't get the achievement. I've completed it now and don't think I can be bothered going back.

I also had lots of problems falling through the factory roof... I had to delete Point Lookout to get it working and allow me to progress. Pretty sure this had something to do with it not registering all 100.

As much as I love the game it can be annoying as f__k at times with the bugs and glitches.

I could collect about 40 without the guide. Even with the guide I had to do a second walk-through because I missed one. Absolutely not my favorite achievement!

I did that and it was a life saver because it glitched on my first try and i couldn't get the last one thanks for the post.

Well this leads me to the question: can you get these at anytime? Or are there ingots that are missable if you don't get them at a certain point?

I'm just starting the dlc and I am curious about this because the achievement guide doesn't say. Thanks.

I don't recall any of them being missable. So, I think you should be fine and if not, just keep a back-up save.

Evil.... I found 93 without a guide so far. Not sure how many hours I spent yesterday but I'm back to it tonight after I head offline. My missing ones have to be in the main yard somewhere because I'm certain I got them all in the supply building. I've filled in the whole map though and roamed for hours last night. No idea where the other 7 would be....

No guides for me though! Can't do videos on dialup and where's the fun in using a guide anyway? :P If I can't find it myself then I'll just do a new save so this copy is saved on it's own file and I can come back to it at the end of the game with a fresh view of the area :D

* Updated *

So, I found 3 more last night after I went back to the game and then I gave up after another hour or two. I just spent another hour tonight and I found the last 4, whoohoo! All 100 without a guide :D
