Do you want to see a S.H.I.E.L.D (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/040/040512.html). movie? Well, Sam Jackson does -- and since he's signed to about 999,999 more Marvel movies, he rightly should. But is a film based on the famous (for us geeks anyway) secret intelligence agency really in the works?

"The Avengers should be shooting sometime next year," Jackson told Radio Big Boy (http://radiobigboy.com/?p=11965). "Then, probably sometime after that, there will be a big S.H.I.E.L.D. movie."

The actor, of course, plays Nick Fury in the Marvel movies. Fury is the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the question must be asked: What would a S.H.I.E.L.D. film be all about, especially in the wake of an Avengers film which presumably would heavily focus on Fury's organization too?

Jackson also discusses Thor and Captain America in the interview, once again saying that he's not in the former film but will be in the latter. And amusingly enough, he claims that he doesn't know who's playing Cap but that the actor who was cast as Thor is "the guy who played Captain Kirk" in Star Trek. You're close Sam! (It's actually Chris Hemsworth (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/142/14218682.html), who played Kirk's dad in that movie.)

But what the hell does Jackson need to worry about such details for anyway? He's too busy signing all those Marvel checks…

Am I the only one who thinks that they should have had David Hasselhoff reprise his role as Fury in all these movies? I can't believe I just wrote that...

Lol, yeah you are the only one.

When did Nick Fury turn black anyway ? Is he still white in the comics ?

Cant see how they can make a film out of this.. I'm pretty sure it will be a film just about Nick making Shield etc.

in the Ultimates he was based on Samuel L Jackson

Actor Samuel L. Jackson (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/wiki/Samuel_L._Jackson) gave his consent for Marvel Comics (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/wiki/Marvel_Comics) to use his likeness in their redesign of the Fury character for The Ultimates (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/wiki/Ultimates)[7] (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/#cite_note-samueljackson-6), and first appeared with this revised look in Ultimates #1, as drawn by Bryan Hitch (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/wiki/Bryan_Hitch).

The similarity is even noted within the comic itself, in a scene in which the Ultimates discuss who they think should play each of them in a hypothetical movie about the team. Fury's answer for himself is "Mr. Samuel L. Jackson, of course, no discussion."

I knew he was black in some marvel universe... but to be honest i don't read comics that much and there's just too damn many for me to know. Also.... i think Sam Jackson is perfect for the role.... he's a freaking bad ass and i can't wait for the avengers movie to come out... it's gonna be freaking amazing.

WIN.

I'm still looking forward to this. I'm glad comic book characters and storylines are getting so much attention in modern cinema nowadays...as one of the few nerdy girls I knew, I grew up reading most of these comic books anyways...it's just nice to see how the entertainment industry is now revisiting this market :)

While other girls were playing with Barbies and their damn Easy Bake Ovens, I was turning Barbie's convertible into a makeshift Batmobile and schooling my brother and his friends at Nintendo.

Although, to be fair, I do make a pretty mean banana-chocolatechip muffin in an Easy Bake Oven...

Now that is a great post to wake up to. I need to get me an Easy Bake Oven for the office... make me so popular...

A SHIELD movie could be really good, but it will likely be pretty far over the top and make James bond look like a documentary. There was one story about fury where he was spending each night in a different safe house just to be sure. one guy figures it out, finds the pattern in a way that doesn't attract a ttention and when he finally gets the sniper rifle out to take Fury down, he sees Fury aiming his own sniper rifle back at him. That is the essence of Fury. Though knowing movie writers it will probably be all about the helicarrier and Life Model Decoys.

Whoa whoa whoa. I'm all for hating Spiderman 3, but I think we're all forgetting the worst comicbook-movie adaptation of all: Hulk. And maybe now you're thinking, "but Jill, there's two Hulk movies...which ever do you mean?" Well, any true comic book fan would know the one I'm talking about right off the bat: the one that was made back in like, 2000 with Jennifer Connolly and an entire cast of no-name, deadbeat actors. However, that said, the one that came out in 2006 or whenever it was really wasn't much better, although it was definitely better than the aforementioned bowl of steaming elephant piss.

Emo Tobey Maguire FTW.

Exactly. Thank you for posting, I was far too lazy to do it myself, but I feel the posters help reinforce...well, the truth. +1 cookies for you ;)

Spider-Man 3 was basically a live action cartoon. It wasn't terribly good, but it wasn't terrible either. Big problem was the fact that Spider-Man 2 was so good, the quality drop was that much more pronounced. Kind of like the Star Wars prequels.

And for those of you who are not old enough to remember the truly horrendous Marvel movies of the early 90's, it is very hard to turn out crappier movies. Captain America was pretty bad (he diverted a missle by kicking it), I have never seen the Fantastic Four movie (but with a budget of $1 million, how could it go wrong) though bootleg copies make the rounds at comic conventions, the Nick Fury movie (of the week) was pretty bad, though Hasselhoff wasn't too bad, Generation X, and probably a bunch more that I have missed. There is a reason that Marvel went bankrupt not long after these were released. First decent Marvel movie was Blade.
