We wish we came up with this premise because then we'd be potentially swimming in oceans of cash: Hollywood is developing a movie based on a book about a vampire-turned-super spy for the U.S. Government, according to our fellow movie fans at The Hollywood Reporter's HeatVisionBlog. (http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/05/vampire-action-novel-blood-oath-getting-movie-treatment-.html)

Producer Lucas Foster (Mr. and Mrs. Smith (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/499/499734.html)) optioned the novel Blood Oath and its in-process sequel, Black Site, from author Christopher Farnsworth.

Blood Oath follows Nathaniel Cade, a James Bond-ish vampire, captured during the Civil War, who is forced to swear an oath to serve the government, starting with Andrew Johnson's presidency. Since then, this Vampire 007 has served in the Secret Service for every U.S. President.

The film will feature Cade paired with a new human handler (think Giles) as he finds himself in a plot involving a monstrous new form of biological weaponry.

So to break this down for you: Someone read Hellboy, watched Jack Bauer, Jason Bourne and Bond, and thought, "Gee, I like money. I'd really like to get lots of said money." Then put some fangs on his cool-sounding hero and is now just waiting for the cash delivery trucks to come.

Scripts for both Oath and Site will be developed concurrently, and hopefully we'll see this movie in theaters within the next two years.

It was only a matter of time they tried to combine something awful with something amazing...vampires + James Bond = FAIL.

Oh wait, it's happened before...James Cameron + $500 million = ...well, you get the picture.
