The five reported contenders include a Jumper and young Tom Riddle!

The following five actors are said to be the prime candidates for the role of Peter Parker in Sony's Spider-Man (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/057/057514.html) reboot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/05/meet-the-men-who-could-play-spiderman.html), three of the five actors up for Spidey are British: Jamie Bell (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916001.html), 24 (Billy Elliot, Jumper, Tintin, King Kong); Frank Dillane (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/142/14219456.html), 19, who played the young Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince; and Andrew Garfield (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/075/075846.html), 27 (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Red Riding, Lions for Lambs, and soon to be seen as Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin in David Fincher's The Social Network).

The other two Spidey candidates are American. THR confirms the previously reported (http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/108/1083677p1.html) contender Josh Hutcherson (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913966.html), 17, whose credits include Bridge to Terabithia, Journey to the Center of the Earth and the upcoming remake of Red Dawn. Alden Ehrenreich (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/075/075845.html), 20, was discovered by Steven Spielberg, who got him cast in Francis Ford Coppola's Tetro; he'll next be seen in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere.

THR adds, "No screen tests have been conducted at this early stage (though it will be a requirement), and insiders point out that the director [Marc Webb] and studio are still on the lookout."

TOP: Andrew Garfield (L) and Alden Ehrenreich (R);
BOTTOM: Jamie Bell (L) and Frank Dillane (R).

The 3D Spider-Man reboot will be shot later this year for a July 3, 2012 release. The script is by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent.

I'm not gonna really watch this shambles of a film but Jamie Bell has my vote!

Bottom left looks a bit like Tobey Maguire :p
I'd say bottom left would be the best choice, I thought he was good in Jumper.

same here, bottom left looks like he'd fit right in to tobeys boots =P

You both mean Jamie Bell.. right? Same as me.

I like him as an actor + he hasnt really been in any major roles since Billy Elliot (except jumper I think (which wasnt all that)) and deserves to be it!

He was in King Kong but nothing again that was a leading role, but I dont think this film suits him.. or anyone at that lol

I don't think anyone will be as good as Toby...but the guy top right has my vote...bottom right looks too young, bottom left looks too cartoony, and top left looks like one of those guys that would stalk you at the bar. It's a shame this Alden fellow isn't in any mainstream films...he's pretty hawt ;) RAWR.

Following on from my OP;

File this under "Taken with grains of salt" until either Deadline.com (heh) or Sony Pictures confirms the rumor, but BleedingCool.com (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/06/07/spider-man-is-tintin/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+BleedingCool+%28Bleeding+Cool+C omic+News+%26+Rumors%29) is reporting that they know who will play Spider-Man (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/057/057514.html) in the new movie reboot.

Billy Elliot himself, Jamie Bell (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916001.html), is rumored to be this close to putting on the Spidey (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923892.html) suit in Marc Webb's new movie, according to the site.

BleedingCool claims that, in the last 24 hours, they have received various reports that Sony has locked on Bell for the Peter Parker role.

Bell (center) looks like he fits the new movie's Ultimate-inspired take,

If this pans out, the Jumper star will add Spider-Man and Steven Spielberg (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916595.html) and Peter Jackson's Tintin to his collection of franchises that could potentially mint him money. Bell will play the lead role in new Tintin big-screen adventures.

Bell was recently named as one of several candidates on Sony's short-list to play the popular Marvel hero, whose new movie spins into theatres July 3, 2012The guy thought that should be the new spidey is this close!

I'd be happy if Jamie Bell gets it. He's a great actor and deserves more big roles.

Ugghghh, i was reading through your first post, and saw them mention a Red Dawn remake.... why?

Andrew Garfield is a pretty good actor. Never heard him do an american accent though. Saw him in a movie call Boy A. Heavy stuff but he did a great job!

I think Jamie Bell would be a good choice. If I had my way, there would be a Spider-Man 4, but alas I don't have much say in the movie industry :p

All of these people look too old for an Ultimate Spider-Man Parker. I personally would cast a unknown.
I just wish they would cast me :)

Wait why are they creating another Spiderman?

Could you get a bigger bunch of douchebags? Jamie Bell was pretty good in Jumper so out of this bunch, I pick him.

I still think its stupid there going back to his boyhood or w.e if they've changed it since i heard last =s

Should still be toby/kd but i guess we'll see how this turns out but i know i'm waiting till its in the 5$ bin at wal mart befor i watch it as if i wanted to watch him younger i'd watch #1:mad:

06-13-2010, 04:43 AM
Wait why are they creating another Spiderman?Because Toby Maguire was being a whiny bitch about playing Spiderman again and wanted even more money for even less work. Shame; I thought he played a perfect Peter Parker :(

06-14-2010, 03:09 AM
i thought Tobey already signed on for spidey 4?

06-14-2010, 03:39 AM
i thought Tobey already signed on for spidey 4?You might be right. Either way, it doesn't matter. Maguire won't be playing Peter in the next Spiderman flick.

i thought Tobey already signed on for spidey 4?

You're a little behind the times >_> Maguire and Raimi did sign on for the fourth movie and production was going along nicely until Sony insisted on an early release date, and when Raimi said he couldn't have it done by that time (while keeping his vision in tact) they canned it altogether.
