Michael Bay (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916941.html) and his Platinum Dunes remake factory will be serving up turtles on the half-shell (does that even make sense?) for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, who have brought the outfit in to handle their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles redux.

Deadline (http://www.deadline.com/2010/05/platinum-dunes-steers-turtles-relaunch/) reports that the go-to-guys at Platinum Dunes, Brad Fuller (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/912/912404.html) and Andrew Form (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/062/062572.html), will produce the live-action picture along with Bay, Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. The team will start meeting with writers in June.

TMNT (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/143/14343176.html) represents a new direction for Platinum Dunes, which has typically specialized in horror remakes in the past, including the recent A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th reboots.

Nice to see that Michael Bay won't be satisfied until he's ruined everything I loved as a child.

I'm a little scared that they have to bring in a team of writers for it. They found a franchise they know they can make money off of, and now have to come up with a passable script? I think most good movies develop a bit more organically than that. "Hey, I have a good idea and a good script, I'll try to sell it!" But who knows? Look at the Star Wars prequels: maybe George Lucas should have had a team of writers checking him on those.

Well I guess everyone better be ready for lots more prepubescent farting and dog humping jokes from the master of used toilet paper storytelling, simply known as Micheal Bay. Watch as April O'Neal is played by some 19 year old supermodel who can't remember her 5 lines in the movie and will be seen running in slow motion consistently for no reason besides sex appeal. And let's not forget Shredder and the Footclan abandoning their stealth ninja skills and just attacking the turtles and the city with lots of bombs and missiles to create those 4000 explosions so good Mr. Bay can fill his self created quota. And let's not forget out loveable Turtles, who will be turned into lame stereotypes of typical 14-15 year old teenagers complete with lame pop culture references and constantly desrespecting and arguing with splinter just to further connect with that same amazing pg-13 demographic they're so desperately aiming for with this. It won't matter anyway because will find out that the amazing Shia Labeouf will be cast to of course play April's love interest, pushing the Turtles story to the backburner. We'll get 90 minutes of that crap, and then the last 20 will be the footclan attempting to blow up NYC and the Turtles of course stopping them, all while continuing to use those lame pop culture one-liners.

Well, I take it they're not making it dark and brutal like the old comics...

If the turtles are gonna look like that 'realistic' Raphael mask I saw before then colour me disappointed with the look of them already.

That was actually just some project some person was working on. Completely unrelated to the film, or so I'm told.

Excellent. Glad to hear it's Bay directing this movie. Him and his inevitable over-compensation of special effects and CGI. Me likey.

I don't want a Turtles remake.
I'm more than happy with the cheesefests we've already had.

No amount of big explosions can top the Ninja Rap.

Who the fuck agreed to let this guy handle TMNT? Was there even a single explosion in anything TMNT related? I think I'll go watch this just to see how bad he'll mess it up.

I hope that they use the original costumes from the first live action movie. Those were better than that CGI crap they tried with the last movie.

I liked the recent CGI TMNT. I was more hoping for another one of those.
