View Full Version : Are you so addicted to achievements that you would play ANY game for points?

Okay, so this question came into my head today..

All the games out right now are okay for any of us to be playing. Already, we have done some stuff that we wouldn't normally do in a game just to get the points. Some people have gone as far to cheat in getting the online achievements (which i havent done, who knows if i ever will).

But my question is, would YOU play any game if they had some easy achievements? Would you mind if you had Barbie Wild Horse Adventure on your gamer tag with 1000 points if it took you 2 hours to beat? How about Mary Kate and Ashley Licensed to Drive? These are just some examples of course, but would you play these just to get the easy points?

Hell, I know I'd play some Dora The Explorer for some points :D

Yeah, i didnt think i would but then i joined a game rental site and find myself renting anything to get points, I would never have contemplated an american football game before yet i got john madden for an easy 1000, the same goes with tony hawkes which i hadnt played since the first one on the ps2 (think it was tony hawks 3) even though i never got the final 100% achievement (dont think many folk could be bothered with that unless they had bought it) i still got all the rest of them. One thing i dont think id do though and thats buy arcade games just for the extra 200 points or whatever it is that they provide, will limit my obsession to proper games (not that arcade games arent proper games but youz know what i mean), gamerscore is just the best idea ever

Yes I would rent Barbie Wild Horse Adventure and Mary Kate and Ashley Licensed to Drive, but I would blame it on the fact that I have a 2 year old daughter :D, not that she is old enough to play the xbox. I give her a unhooked controller and she will sit in front of the TV for hours thinking she's playing...lol.

i would play anygame that had the Olsens in without a shadow of a doubt. and i think that most people here have already rented games purely for points.

^^ I know, i was just wondering if people here would rent a Barbie-related game or something similar if meant an easy 1000 points ;P

I thought I would....then I played Ridge Racer 6 and I was so damn bored through the little I played--I decided it wasn't worth it. I've played everything else besides the new stuff and Tiger Woods though.

I used to think I would. then I got RR6 and I just know it's so boring I haven't even opened it yet. I think I might just send it back tomorrow without even playing it. Fucking Ridge Racer...

I can't wait to play kiddy games because the achievements will be sooooo easy.

Spitfirex007
03-13-2006, 09:45 PM
No. I play games because I want to. If a easy 1000 comes with it, then great! If not no big deal. I would never rent a game thou just for an easy 1000. Points are cool and all..But they are worthless. It will get me nothing out of life. Plus there is too many "cheaters" and people who take them to seriously. Its not even fun to compete anymore because people rent games (mainly sports) Put everything on super easy and get the 1000 as fast as they can. And take ghost recon. There is a cheat code that gives you "god mode" Where is the fun in that?

Minty

like to point out not all sport games. tiger woods probably has one of the hardest sets of achievement points going

Heck, I know I would! Unlike some of you guys, I actually started my XBOX360 life with RR6 and it feels like I've been playing it for an eternity - so yeah I would play something easy and off the wall to get some GS points.

My take on the whole GS thing:

GS=crack:eek:
Microsoft=dealer
gameplayers=crackheads

Majority of us are hooked to the points - some more than others - and we're going alot farther to get them than we normally would in a game. YES... me included.:rolleyes:

I dont understand why you guys are mentioning RR6 in here, from my understanding, i havent played it, but some of the achievements are tough..

I'm saying, would you play a Sesame Street game if you could get 1000 points in 1-2 hours, lol..

i cant wait till Curious Goerge has achievements. Just think how easy they will be!

Weapon 117
03-14-2006, 05:16 AM
I wouldn't. I only play games if they are cool and fun. And even if you wanted to play any game to get achievements your going to have to either rent it, buy it, or borrow it. Borrowing is fine but if you keep renting and buying every 360 game out there its gonna cost you lots of money over time.

03-14-2006, 06:22 AM
i love the achievements but i still have to kinda want to play the game, like i dont want to play rr6 or nfs but i alsdo rent something i normaly wont play for friends(fifa) so its not just achievements i get 360 games for ether

My goal is to try out a ton of games and get up to 10k points. There hasnt been any game yet that I am super addicted to so I'm just jumping around. However once some really good games come out (GR:AW might be one just havent had a chance to play it yet) I wount play anything just for points I really dont think. I mean with all the great games that will be out within a year,too many to count, you guys really would waste your time with some Teletubbies or some other BS ?

I'm normally pretty picky about the games I play. My addiction to achievements has caused me to open up and give more games a chance but I still won't play just any old game. I don't care how many points I'm missing out on; I just don't like racing games and I'll probably never play them.

this back's up my idea. make a game that unlocks 1000 gamer point's once you put it in for pushing the a button. nothing else in the game...
easy money for whoever makes it (aka me).

I would play lego stars wars for points. if it doesnt suck. No matter how easy the points Im not gonna play full auto, king kong, kameo, etc to the 1000 points. Just isnt fun for me to play something I hate just for points.

On Topic: :p I thikn I would only play a game for achievements if they were:

1. Extremely easy
2. I like the game
3. The achievements are creative and interest me....

Therefore i would buy Barbie Horse Adventure because of the 2nd point...:p

I didnt say anything about SOCCER not being the most popular sport in the world, i would never argue that because i would never win, however FOOTBALL still brings the most viewers out of any event period in the entire world

Who's playing in the World Cup? who cares?
