View Full Version : Thor's Costume!

06-03-2010, 03:45 PM
First we got concept art of Captain America (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/034/034020.html) yesterday, created to more or less approximate what Chris Evans will look like in his star-spangled duds (http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/109/1094322p1.html). And now another Avenger has received the same treatment -- namely, the god of thunder, Thor (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/041/041031.html)!

Here's a look at the design, but be sure to click over to Collider (http://www.collider.com/2010/06/02/thor-chris-hemsworth-new-images-concept-art/) for the full images:

So it looks O.K., but not great, right? But be assured, this is in fact the costume -- IGN has seen the real thing, and in action no less. And we can tell you to calm your trembling heart, dear reader, for the costume looks much cooler than these pictures would indicate -- not as plastic in motion. Indeed, it looks pretty badass.

It's nice seeing the hammer in action here, particularly with the mystical sheen that it has. But where be our helmet?! And they better not chop off the wings like they did with Capů

He looks extremely...... high tech.
Almost like he'd belong in Too Human.... not really though.... but you'd get the impression he was.

Oh Disney, what have you done with my Thor?

Looks a little... boring?

Oh, dear Lord! Why must they ruin every main character from my favorite comic book series?! And slowly, movie by shitty movie!

No! Why! That game bastardized Norse mythology!

Need to see the costume in action to judge, and hopefully the hammer doesn't glow like that at all times. Thor would wear some sort of armour, so it could work with the costume, but that hammer...

Why Thor? Everyone knows Loki is the best!

Then Odin just pushes them both aside.

When I look at the picture it reminds of a wrestler instead of some badass viking type.

People complain to much.

Captain and Thor both look bad-ass and I think they will fit in really well with the current line-up and feel of the films.

Quoted from SuperHeroHype interview with Marvel President Kevin Feige (http://www.superherohype.com/features/articles/100085-kevin-feige-on-upcoming-marvel-studios-films)
Feige was asked if it will be difficult to meld the fantasy of Thor with the high-tech science fiction in Iron Man and The Avengers. "No," he said, "because we're doing the Jack Kirby/Stan Lee/Walt Simonson/J. Michael Straczynski 'Thor.' We're not doing the blow-the-dust-off-of-the-old-Norse-book-in-your-library 'Thor.' And in the 'Thor' of the Marvel Universe, there's a race called the Asgardians. And we're linked through this Tree of Life that we're unaware of. It's real science, but we don't know about it yet. The 'Thor' movie is about teaching people that."

I think it looks really good.
The only thing that worried me was the shots of him wearing the trousers that seamed to gleam.

It was always gonna look abit naff.. but it could have been worse

Odin beats Thor mainly because he is his father but Loki is number uno in my book. Come on he is the trickster.

will Loki be in the movie? wonder, if he is in it, if his costume will look strange -_-
