Without Sabbath, none of those bands would exist.

You know, you can create a poll by clicking on "Thread Tools" at the top of the page, and selecting "Create a Poll." :)

Hey "bedcommando", even though most of those bands came along after Sabbath, even though Judas Priest didn't make their first album until 1974, they were formed the same year Sabbath was, so no one band created the genre of Heavy Metal, it was a combination of different groups.

Metallica and Judas Priest are on a somewhat equal level to me. More so Metallica though.

I'm gunna say it would be between Slayer & Maiden in this list, people may argue that most Slayer songs are pretty much the same, but I'm still a pretty big fan.

No, Tony Iommi created Heavy Metal. It was a combination of different groups that helped shape Metal, but Iommi alone created it with his guitar, and his influence is in every single Metal album.

He has a point, but alot of the influence could be contributed to a few others to, like Zepplin, Deep Purple, and even more blues-inspired bands like Cream and Jeff Beck. Each band following just changed the sound a bit. Motorhead gave it speed. Priest gave it a darker, less bluesy sound.

What? There's nothing biased about what I said so there's no room for opinions. That's like saying "That's YOUR opinion" to someone telling you the red cup is red. Listen to their debut album "Black Sabbath", and listen to any Rock album before it, and any Metal album after it. You cannot deny they changed the face of music, and created an entire new genre that has exploded into an umbrella of sub-genres, but they all have one thing in common - Iommi's influence.
He put the "Metal" into playing guitar, and guitars are the most defining aspect of Metal as a genre.
This has nothing to do with opinions, it's history for fuck sakes, learn it.

Three things:

1. Most vague name for a poll ever.
2. Not really my style of music
3. Out of those, Dio (R.I.P.). Because he rode the tiger (/crappyjoke).

I have many albums from all of these bands and I have listened to their debut album and im saying they contributed to the genre, just drop the subject, come on.

Overall, Metallica is one of the most talented bands of all time. But, I personally like Maiden much more.
