Who will be the Riddler in Batman 3?!

When is an actor like a Batman 3 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/961/961205.html) villain? When he's also in Christopher Nolan's new movie, Inception (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/143/14322233.html).

Movieline (http://www.movieline.com/2010/06/will-joseph-gordon-levitt-play-the-riddler-in-batman-3.php) points out a report at their sister site, Hollywood Life (http://www.hollywoodlife.com/2010/06/09/joseph-gordon-levitt-to-play-the-riddler-in-batman-begins-3/), that claims Joseph Gordon-Levitt (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913907.html) is Nolan's "first pick" to play the Riddler (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/924/924001.html) in Batman 3.

"Chris really dug Joseph [as an actor]," the site's purported insider claims. "There was a joke at first between them [on the set of Inception] that Joseph wanted to read for Batman 3 and things heated up as filming continued."

The site's source continued, "It's not 100% confirmed that he's getting [the role of The Riddler] but there's certainly talk about it. Joseph is definitely on the short list."

The rumor mill first churned out Joseph Gordon-Levitt's name in relation to Batman 3 as a possible replacement for the late Heath Ledger's Joker, but Nolan recently dismissed the idea of recasting the role and said the Joker will not return (http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/109/1094767p1.html) in any sequels.

If he is indeed cast as the Riddler -- that is if the Riddler is even the villain in Batman 3 -- then it wouldn't be Gordon-Levitt's first turn as a comic book villain. He played Cobra Commander in last summer's G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

I agree, he would be brilliant!

Jim Carrey all the way! Heath Ledger was an awesome joker, so this would be continuing the streak.

I actually agree with Levitt. Jim Carrey was good as Riddler back in the day when the Batman movies were still fairly cartoony. But these days, I dunno if he could pull the character off again. I like Levitt as an actor, and I think he'd make a fantastic Riddler. Carrey should go back to doing The Mask.

I agree. Jim Carrey would be a much better choice than Joseph Gordon-Levitt. We know Carrey can do the serious role. Look at Number 23 or Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. He would be by far better than Gordon-Levitt.

Jim Carrey wasn't a gd riddler! (there i said it!)

Hopefully someone good will play the Riddler then i will be happy but they won't match Heath Ledgers performance i can gurantee it!

I'm still a huge supporter of Jim Carrey reprising his role as the Riddler.
But with the way Chris Nolan is going with the films... people think that he can't with the way he acted previously..... i say all he has to do is combine his Riddler character with his Number 23 character and he'd be perfect.

I think he'd do a good job as the Riddler, but to be honest he kind of looks like Heath Ledger from what I've seen :P

Which were just quick glances.

Really am not fussed as long as the film is good =P

Anyone who thinks Jim Carrey was a good Riddler has no idea about what the Riddler is beyond Batman Forever.

That wasn't the Riddler. It was the Mask/Ace Ventura/Lyod Christmas/The Cable Guy/The Grinch.

If they brang him back Batman 3 would be instant fail.

Even play Batman: AA or watch the old Batman Animated series and you would realize that the riddler isn't there as a comedy relief.

No no no no no no no absolutely no Jim Carrey! He might have been decent for Forever but that doesn't carry over to the newer more "realistic"(?) Batmans.
