Nic Cage sequel may be getting some High Voltage..

Ghost Rider 2 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/926/926003.html) -- a.k.a. Ghost Rider (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/034/034107.html): Spirit of Vengeance -- just got a lot more interesting. That's because the creators of the Crank (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/771/771289.html) series are about to come aboard the Marvel Comics sequel.

Heat Vision (http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/06/nicolas-cage-and-crank-duo-taking-on-ghost-rider-sequel.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter) is reporting that the writing-directing duo of Mark Neveldine (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/917/917568.html) and Brian Taylor (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/914/914288.html) are "in early negotiations" to helm the film. And Nicolas Cage (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913195.html), who played the flame-headed crusader in the original, is similarly in talks to return.

"Plot details are under wraps, and it is not known if any other character from the previous movie will return," says the site, adding that Neveldine and Taylor may do a rewrite on David Goyer's script. "While the dealmaking is in the preliminary stages, the studio hopes to get principal photography going by late fall."

Frankly, who cares if any of the characters from the original return? Better to just let the Crank duo unleash their freaky imaginations on Johnny Blaze with a clean slate. Which, knowing them, will very quickly become unclean with blood and sex and more blood.

By getting this project going asap, Sony is avoiding letting the rights to the franchise revert back to Marvel.

Awesome, i really enjoyed the first film, as i am marvel fan myself and enjoy each and every character.

Ghost Rider just hits the spot for me though, don't know exactly why but the way he is portrayed just makes the love for the film and comics even more enjoyable. He was even 1 of my 4 characters in Marvel Ultimate Alliance the game :D

I've been reading up on Stan Lee's twitter messages because he has very descriptive (and long) tweets explaining a lot of stuff to do with his work, and i'm pretty sure he has mentioned some upcoming surprises for the future, just can't remember what exactly.

No...just, no. Ghost Rider was probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Ever. And that's coming from someone who's seen Plan 9 From Outer Space.

In all honesty, I used to love Ghost Rider's character...but this movie completely ruined him for me. Pretty much the entire thing was all CGI...but that's not why I hate it. I hate it because it was pretty much the worst CGI job I've ever seen. It felt like whoever produced the movie spent all their budget on the opening football field/helicopter stunt, and then had to hire some hotshot with a prestigious qualification from DeVry to complete the rest of the film in his parents' basement. It was absolutely awful...and while I typically enjoy Cage as an actor (exception: The Wickerman), I found I really haven't liked him as much since I saw wasted two hours of my life watching Ghost Rider.

If they're going to make a sequel, I hope to God they make it so good that it makes up for the steaming bowl of elephant piss that was the original. I don't see how that's even possible, but that's what they'll need to do in order to restore my faith in Ghost Rider.

I think this movie can use a reboot... imo.... i thought it was pretty bad. They could've gone with somebody better than cage, but oh well. It'd be getter if they just recast for the sequel instead of going with Cage again, agreed with him being in Kick Ass though.

Always.
