Since there is an Alan Wake novel already, how else would you like to see the story done as?

I myself would prefer a TV series, with some additional backstory and subplots mentioned as in the manuscript (e.g. Rusty's fling with Rose, Alice lost in the darkness, Dr. Hartman getting Wake out of the lake and recovering him) It could make for some great character development. :)

I wouldn't mind a film, but the thing is, being a 6 episode game, trying to condense that into a 2hr or so film could be either really boring or really good.

To add, who would you cast as the characters and/or direct a AW film/series?

(PS: Alan Wake is already cast, he appears on the in-game TV and the music video, "War" by Poets of the Fall. But then again, you can choose someone else...)

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this, or if they could mention another form of media.

Keep in mind that a majority of the game is spend wandering through the woods without many significant events, so a movie is still a possibility.

Personally, I think a TV series would be good. The format of the game itself is already a TV series, though there would need to be quite a few additions made, such as the subplots you mentioned above.

As for actors, I can't offer much help, as I'm not too interested in famous TV/Movie stars.

If they make a TV or film adaptation they should get Kevin Smith to direct it. Since most of the game is talking with minor action he'd be perfect

It would have to be a TV series. I think IFC would be the best network/ channel for it to air on. They've already done a great job with the Prisoner remake and hopefully the Walking Dead will be just as good.

I reckon they should just leave it as it is. Web/Console based series. They should definitely continue with the webisodes though, those were awesome! But the idea of controlling the characters makes it feel so much more personal and exciting than any film or television show could manage.

But the idea of another companion book would be cool! Release Alan Wakes books or something...

That be a good idea! Similar to the Halo novels, and yh more webisodes would be nice too.

After watching the six prequel episodes it greatly improves my hope for something more and they have mentioned that this isn't going to stop here. They're having multiple dlc so it could be a series if any but I do think it would be more successful as a movie since it has that everlasting effect perfect for a well developed movie.
