What do you think the achievements will be?

will they follow the format of fallout 3 / Bethesda...

Mission based with a couple kill achievements / find locations

or will they make a list like Alpha Protocol..?

Name some achievements you think / would like to see in the game:

It was confirmed during a demo playthrough of the game that there will be an achievement for beating the game on hardcore mode. Just a friendly reminder in case you haven't heard, hardcore is not strictly a difficulty setting that affects only combat (like very easy, hard, very hard, etc.) Rather, it is a feature that when turned on will enable certain things to kick in such as being forced to eat or drink at regular intervals to stay healthy and weighted ammunition.

The quest achievements were fine for Fallout 3 and I hope New Vegas' is similar, but I didn't like the do this X amount of times. I don't like that kind of achievement in any game. They will probably have a very similar Fallout 3 list.

I just thought of it, there will probably be one or more perks that will negate the need to eat, drink, and sleep. So that you either don't need to or don't need to as often. I could also see the possibilty of a perk for reducing the weight of ammunition but I'm not sure how helpful that would be.

If in hardcore mode ammunition does have weight, then it will be very helpful. For example: say one energy cell weighs 0.5 lbs and you have 3000 energy cells (which is not uncommon in Fallout 3). The weight of the energy cells alone would be 1500 lbs. If your max carrying weight is only 300 lbs, then you could only carry 600 energy cells assuming you aren't carrying anything else. If a perk were to reduce the weight of the energy cell to 0.1 lbs, then you could carry the entire amount of 3000 energy cells. :) It is hard to say anything else because we don't know the actual weight of any of the ammunition or whether or not the player's carrying capacity is larger. But hopefully it is.

I don't think they would do that... as much as I would like it. What would be the point of doing Hardcore if it had a perk that took away half of the reason it's called Hardcore.. besides getting the achievement? A perk reducing ammo weight would be nice though. I remember I had at least 5000 rounds for each weapon, I can't imagine how annoying that would be in Hardcore. I was big at conserving ammo in there.. so it's gonna be a problem for me.

Anyway, I hope they follow the same format. I liked getting achievements for almost every quest I did. The "do this X amount of times" achievements came to me through natural progression, so I don't have a problem with those either. I seriously hated that collect 100 ingots one for The Pitt though.

There's one for "breaking all the casinos" and getting a certain amount of headshots. I saw it in a demo somewhere.

Most likely it will be quest completion achievements, with a few funny ones. (like the stick a live grenade in someones pocket) :) but seeing as how its Vegas, maybe they will have Poker/Blackjack achievements, like win a certain amount, sort of like Red Dead's.

Those are probably subject to change since the game still has another 3 months until release, but they did say that beating the game on hardcore would be one.

I am going to assume that the achievements will follow those of FO3 rather than Alpha Protocol. I also wouldn't mind seeing them also follow ES: Oblivion either. In any case they're certainly not going to follow Alpha Protocol.

As for getting beating the game in hardcore mode, I hope they add perks to where it will either help negate some weight, eat or sleep issues. At least to help reduce the effects of them.

Donīt like those achievements at all....
I want my RPG list the way oblivion did it, 100% possible in one playthrough...you just have to do everything the game has to offer.
Replaying a 50+ hour game just for one or two achievements is...well...no fun

Personally I just hope they keep the tiles the same... I love that Pip Boy... he needs to be in every tile just like FO3...or else...

Fallout 3 was fun until 500-600g. Then you asked yourself, "Why am I playing this?" Sooooo boring and hard, Raiders are harder to kill then hunters on Halo 3! And after a while VATS starts to lag up and then it freezes your Xbox 360, and I swear my Xbox turned emo that day. The achievements were a pain. Isn't there anything else you can do except repair weapons and do quests?
I hope New Vegas doesn't disappoint me.

Edit: Sorry I sound like a flamer, but I do LOVE Fallout 3, except for its "minor" flaws.

I just hope that they keep some of the old FO3 format, but i also want something new so it doesn't seem like I'm just replaying FO3

Hardcore is going to piss me off I already know that. I am going to pick one or two guns to walk around with at a time so I dont need different types of ammo. Save weight so you can pick things up as you go along. We better get a house within the first hour of playing so I can start hording ammo and items like Im getting ready for a nuclear war. Better late than never.

I really hope they stick to a format like Fallout 3. I am praying they don't do really hard one like beat it on hard with hardcore activated.

I agree with you 100% on the "do this X # of times" achievements...Like in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2...Some of the skills/abilities are damn near useless and I don't want to waste my time using them just for an achievement.

I hope it is just like Fallout 3 and just adding a couple of really difficult skill based achievements in order to differentiate people from the rest of the pack. Pre-Ordered my Collectors Edition from Gamestop yesterday. Can't wait!

There are two known confirmed achievements. They are to break every casino and to complete the game on hardcore mode. I think I recall bethesda saying that the game can be beaten without killing anybody. Let's just hope that isn't an achievement!

Eh I didnt think the do this ____ times achievements were bad in Fallout 3 since the abilities they had you use were pretty commonly used abilities IMO. Not like Mass Effect where they were trying to force you into multiple playthroughs or oddball playing styles.

i dare say the achievements will be in the same vein as Fallout 3.

have to agree that a house early on would be good to hoarde stuff you cant carry, given the eat/sleep restrictions i dare say you will.

if i recall fallout 3 had a perk that added extra carry capacity, maybe some more like this, that are useless(or reduced in usefullness), unless your playing hardcore.
i can see ones for reduced need for food/water/sleep called hardy/tough/insomniac

usually NPC's have self-sustainability. any followers you hire, should feed themselves as needed - from a limitless supply no less - and never seem to be weighed down by pesky things like ammo - of which they seem to have a limitless supply. thus making them invaluable during hardcore mode!
