This list has no specific purpose other than to show some bands that people may not be aware of. If you have a list of good bands you think people have never bothered with, post them :) There is just too much music in the world for me to find all by myself.

(Experimental)
YouTube- Chimp Spanner - Supererogation
(Southern Metal/Stoner)
YouTube- Corrosion Of Conformity - Albatross
YouTube- Maylene and the Sons of Disaster - Step Up (I'm On It) [official music video]

Heard of half of them. Can I have an achievement? I kid.

Periphery are good, they're too much like Meshuggah though, and you can't top Meshuggah.

Poison the Well were great back in those days, but they are horrid nowadays. I saw them at Warped Tour '03, and they came out playing Botchla, I was hooked. I listened to them up until Versions was released. That album was horrible. I never listened to The Tropic Rot.

MatSoD is a pretty sick band.

Holy shit. I love metalcore and deathcore covers of pop songs. I should cover one with my band and record. It seems to get some of these newer bands discovered. For example, Sea of Treachery is getting pretty big in the metalcore scene, and the first song of theirs I heard was a cover of Paramore's "Misery Business."

Here's another cover. It's sick. By a band called The Demonstration. I think they're fairly unknown.

I've heard of most of these bands, but not the songs posted. I liked the cover of 1000 miles, and I didn't think I'd like that Bad Romance cover, but it was good :p Looked through a little bit of my iTunes and found some more bands :)

Yeah, after listening to them a little more I'd say they are straight up Death Metal, that song really does have a Goregrind vibe to it though. Kinda like Devourment.

I've know Devourment for a long ass time and they're only part Goregrind, well not Goregrind but Deathgrind, kind of like Mortician.

Here's some real Goregrind bands:

YouTube- Putrid Pile-Food For The Maggots

YouTube- Guttural Secrete - Razorized Ball Gag

YouTube- Lord Gore "Rape Camp"

I'm not going to post anymore as I don't want to offend anyone since some bands take it too far. But if you want to know more Goregrind bands, just tell me and I can send you names of them in a private message.

Usually with Grindcore, it depends on the lyrical themes.

Edit: Also, I have no idea why people consider Carcass a Grindcore band. Don't get me wrong, they're a great band but I don't agree that they should be listed as Grindcore.

YouTube- Carcass - Black Star

See, I hear no Grindcore in them at all, they're really just a Death Metal band. Probably my favorite song by Carcass though. I own two of their albums.

That's because you posted their last CD which was the farthest thing from their early goregrind days.

YouTube- Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction

YouTube- Carcass - Genital Grinder/Regurgitation of Giblets

It's their demo and first album Reek of Putrefaction that have Grindcore in them. After that the band kinda grew away from that sound.

I first heard Structures a couple of months back. They're pretty good instrumentally but the sound is a bit generic IMO.

Anyway, I used to love deathcore before it all started sounding the same. The only deathcore band I really listen to anymore are Plague of Ashitaka. They mix elements of deathcore and technical so they have a pretty original sound. If I can find the effort to look for a video of them I'll post one later.

Let's see here..

Let's start with this one. It always makes me laugh.
YouTube- Rick Gervais & Noel Gallagher - Freelove Freeway
YouTube- Devin Townsend - Down And Under

I don't remember how many times I've mentioned Gordian Knot, but it's not enough.
YouTube- Gordian Knot - Rivers Dancing

http://www.last.fm/search?q=at+war+with+self&from=ac ----------- Their songs got removed from youtube. Listen to one or two, see what ya think.

That's really all I got in the more or less unknown rock/metal department.

[Goregrind? Grindgore?]

I could go through the rest of my life and never understand why these things have genres. Do we really need a genre that encompasses all of, what, two bands that only five people have heard of?

Sir, with this Mutant you are spoiling us...they are f-ing epic! As they have toured with them you are probably aware but just in case check out some Evile - I would post vids but pootube is frowned upon here (work)!

I recently discovered Volbeat and though not extreme in the slightest they have a good sound, the vocalist reminds me of Danzig era Misfits.

Some pretty good metal-oriented bands that seem to be underrated (at least to me they do), are Cacophony, Turisas, Candlemass, and Iced Earth. There's something about Iced Earth that I REALLY like, but I can't really explain it. I'm more of a guitar-oriented listener and Cacophony's playing style is very unique. Also, Marty Friedman was pretty good in his prime.
