I'm looking for a good book to read that's kind of like Alan Wake. I loved the game and I know there has to be books out there like it.
Yes, I know about the Alan Wake book that was written based on the game but I'm looking for something different.

One of the first things I did after playing through Alan Wake was reread some of my favorite HP Lovecraft stories. Not exactly the same storyline but lots of nameless/shapeless horrors that drives people to madness. None of that "Omega 3 oils are good for the heart" foolishness though.

I know it's not the same but it reminded me of 'The Dark Half' by Stephen King.

I saw people on Kotaku, discussing the ending of Alan Wake, compare it to Feersum Endjinn by Iain M. Banks, but I haven't read it, so I can't vouch for them...
I'd also like to know books Similar to AW.

Its nothing grand but you could always get the limited edition that includes a book thats around 144 pages or so. Also I recently bought the strategy guide and the way its written is in the form of a book. So you could easily read that all on its own. Hoped it helped.

I'm always quick to suggest "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski, a book which was apparently one of the many inspirations for Alan Wake. It's a good creepy read and it will give you a solid workout. And it'll seriously screw with your head. :) Awesome, awesome book.

Maybe more on the side of psych thrillers instead of story, but shutter island.
