Alot of Xbox 360 games aim towards realism, and everybody has there idea of realistic, so what in your opinion is the most realistic game?
Mine would be Battle Field: Bad Company 2

Super Mario Bros. I can see somebody posting 'Modern Warfare 2' and I can also see him getting flamed out of his mind.

Seriously, I couldn't even tell you what the most realistic game is.. Maybe GTA IV? Yeah, probably.

All COD games are very unrealistic its not there strong point. But its got to be either Forza 3 or operation flashpoint. Flashpoint is too realistic tho which makes it the worst game out today.

The Call of Duty (or any other tradtional war game) series.
Mostly because it doesn't have any sci-fi / fantasy elements that other games do.

CoD? Please. You're one man, and you kill hundreds of enemies every level. You regenerate health! In what way is CoD realistic?

My vote goes for Forza 3.

Rebel River

if i may add to the COD dilema, Perks are unrealistic, and power of certain weapons as well, for example the barret 50 caliber is a weapon used to take down tanks and helicopters in real life, and the 7 inch long round would be an instant kill, instead in call of duty you need an unrealistic perk, and a slight full metal jacket round to make it a one shot kill.

I'd say the most realistic games would be along the lines of Texas Hold 'Em, Backgammon, etc.

Not a single FPS out there is even close to realistic, whether they're based on real events or not.

Generally speaking, I don't believe people want realistic games. I play games to escape real life, not emulate it.

Corrupt.
07-04-2010, 12:43 AM
To be honest you can't really think any shooters are realistic. For realism you need a simulator, something like Forza comes closest imo.

Battlefield Bad Company 2.

But graphics wise I would have to go with Red Dead Redemption. (even though I don't have it.)

From what I have seen of gameplay from that game it seems to have the most realistic graphics out of any game.

As far as sports games go, MLB '10 the show for the ps3 is as close to real baseball than you could ever get.

If EA shared the NFL license, I think sony's brand of football in that same vein as The Show would maul NFL2K5 in every aspect.

Forza 3 is a definitely close 2nd.

Video games aren't supposed to be realistic most of the time, and there can be nitpicking arguments to why every game in the world isn't. It all comes down to what you mean in terms of realism. Some games have realistic graphics, others have realistic physics or storylines. Heavy Rain is probably the most realistic all-around game that's been made.

Spoony Bard
07-04-2010, 02:06 AM
True that. Im pretty sure one of the older CODs is based on WW2.

I'm pretty sure Brothers In Arms - Hells Highway is the most authentic WW2 game out for the current gen. The lengths Gearbox went to to make it real were so far that there's actually a documentary about making the game.

Generally speaking, I don't believe people want realistic games. I play games to escape real life, not emulate it.
Say that to Finish IL-2, Arma/Operation Flashpoint, Silent Hunter and SWAT 4 communities.

Mayby on mainstream there is a resentment towards realism, but there is still a market for a realistic games. If not, then why Operation Flashpoint and Armas have bee such a big hits? Realism is such a great gamemechanic and the best games I have played have been these realistic games. It is just different feeling to play CoD and playing SWAT 4. God they should bring a real tactical shooter for 360. Mayby SWAT 5, or Armas.

Anyway the most realistic game that I can think of on 360 is Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, but it was a shame that those idiots in Codemasters didn't understand what made OP popular and just went along with mainstream. Such a shame.

Also to you who answered CoD, BC2 or Brothers in Arms. As long as humanity isn't made up of Wolverines those games aren't realistic. Ok BC2 on Hardcore is realistic, so that is a good answer.

Generally speaking, I don't believe people want realistic games. I play games to escape real life, not emulate it. This is true, games are a form of escapism not a way to emulate how bad real life is.

Generally speaking no GAME is realistic because if you get shot in call of duty you don't have a bullet gaping in YOUR chest or head, no one wants that. Operation flash point is probably more realistic than COD or BF but it still lacks real REALISM.

Forza 3 is pretty realistic and most cars handle very similar to their real life counterpart, but you can't simulate actually sitting in that PHOTO realistic Ferrari.

If anyone says Gears of war, you would be dead wrong. A chainsaw bayonet would probably bounce off a bone and most likely kill you to.

I think we should keep the games less realistic honestly, keeps it fun and maintains the reason that people play video games which is to escape real life.

Say that to Finish IL-2, Arma/Operation Flashpoint, Silent Hunter and SWAT 4 communities. He said Generally which left a contingency for people who enjoy realistic games.

I think Bully is pretty realistic! I've been playing that a lot lately (like... A LOT) and hearing some of the students in the game say things that I heard in high school. Yes, it's goofy and pokes fun at itself at times but it's pretty realistic when it comes to the cliques, the dialogue, story, etc. I'd vote for most Rockstar games to be realistic (GTA series, Bully, even Red Dead Redemption could be considered more realistic than most).

Operation Flashpoint is the obvious answer. You get shot in the leg and patch yourself up and you can't run for the rest of the damn mission. One bullet to the chest/head can kill you. It's hard as hell to aim. Yeah, that's about as real as a game should get, but they took it over the edge a bit. There was also an older game, but its name escapes me. If you hurt yourself you have to repair that part of your body. If you drop from a height you break your leg and must make a splint, things like that.

I would say Uno was a very realistic game :P

But seriously it would have to be a racing such a Forza because techincally every shooter isnt realistic the minute you get shot and continue the mission with slightly less health.

Naah. They made it just right. It is just that civilians were horrified that they actually had to adjust for ballistics while aiming and that standing in a firefight was a deathwish.

Anyway do you mean Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the World? It had just the kind of healthsystem that you said, but as it was a Cthulhu-game it can hardly be regarded as a realistic game.

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising on the hardest mode. Way too realistic, which makes the game crap hahaha..

Naah. They made it just right. It is just that civilians were horrified that they actually had to adjust for ballistics while aiming and that standing in a firefight was a deathwish.

The game would have been just right, but you cant play something so realistic properly. Part of the charm of CoD and BF are the fact that even on the hardest modes, you can still survive without fancy military moves. its basically run and shoot.
With OFDR, there isnt enough things you (the player) can do to actually make it realistic. Sure, the enemies, ballistics and health are realistic, but they need to make a more realistic movement system that involves actually being able to vault over things (not like mirror edge style), rolling, diving.

the controls arnt good enough to allow you to fully play a game like that to its full potential.
