The stars of the first X-Men movie are going to look pretty long in the tooth compared to the lineup Fox reportedly has in mind for the mutants' next big screen outing.

Showbiz 411 (http://www.showbiz411.com/2010/07/02/ben-walker-chooses-broadway-over-x-men-final-stand) reports that stage actor Benjamin Walker will not play Beast, a.k.a. Hank McCoy, in director Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/142/14270431.html) as was previously reported (http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/110/1100289p1.html).

"Walker had a signed deal to play Beast in First Class. But lately, with the success of Twilight (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/142/14208481.html), studio execs at Fox have been obsessed with making the 'X Men' X boys," according to columnist Roger Friedman. "Suddenly, Fox is nervous because they've had some failures at the box office. Knight and Day, The A Team, and Marmaduke almost reverses their success with Avatar. Getting X Men: First Class right is suddenly more important than ever, I am told."

Right now, thirty-something actors James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are the eldest members of the cast.

Showbiz 411 says Fox went so far as to check the availability of Twilight's Taylor Lautner (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/142/14268820.html) for the film. But given how full Lautner's schedule is at the moment, it would appear unlikely that he'd be able to squeeze it in even if he wanted to do it.

wait im confused, so theyre getting rid of the old cast?

Or is this a prequel or what? =P

because getting rid of people like Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Michael Gambon etc is a real bad move

Honestly, he could be a good candidate for Beast.

Hehe. This made me chuckle a bit. I'm pretty sure Lautner would fit well within the confines an X-men movie... or not...

I'm not looking forward to this at all, I just cannot picture anyone playing Wolverine now (unless he's not in this movie) but seeing how he won't be young (or at least, he shouldn't be) maybe we'll see Hugh Jackman in this? I'm not exactly excited for these Marvel reboots considering they haven't been out for only a couple of years. Oh well, guess I'll just wait and see...

I don't think that there would be any Wolverine at all since he didn't even know about the X-Men until the first movie, and he's already had his origin story. And I'm pretty excited for this movie tbh, the team set up for this movie is amazing, Matthew Vaughn AND Jane Goldmen?!?! I think they'll have no trouble making this movie as great as Kickass was.
