So the wait for Bond 23 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/949/949989.html) appears to have gotten even longer.

EON Productions suspended active development (http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/108/1084581p1.html) on the next sequel in April due to MGM's ongoing financial crisis. But now, if reports from across the pond are to be believed, the project -- which was to have been directed by Sam Mendes (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/918/918327.html) from a screenplay by Peter Morgan (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913773.html) -- has been scuttled altogether.

British tabloid The Mirror (http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2010/07/02/new-james-bond-film-canned-due-to-cash-crisis-115875-22375892/#ixzz0sUFboD53) claims to have "confirmed the movie has been axed and it could be years before the secret agent with a licence to kill is back on the big screen."

The paper quotes an unnamed "insider" as saying, "Members of the production crew have been told the Bond film has been canned. There is a lot of bad feeling as a lot of time, money and hard work has already gone into this."

So if the next Bond film is indeed years away, what does that mean for the involvement of Daniel Craig (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916946.html)? Could Quantum of Solace be his second and final film as 007 (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923632.html)? Time will tell.

No big deal, actually would be good news, I hated Daniel Craig as JB and don't plan on watching another movie until they use someone else.

I enjoy watching 007 movies for the interesting gadgets. All they had in QoS was a business card tracker. Really? That is the main gadget?
No rocket launcher out of his watch or something like that?

Good and Bad news in my books..

We didnt know what the film was gonna be like so if it was anything like CR then I'm sad that we'll be missing out on a another film for some time but if it was like QoS then a break would be good!

I like Daniel as Bond.. I think he plays it well and I like the new grittyness of it!

Fingers crossed everything turns out ok though!

I agree Daniel Craig sucks. They should bring back Sean Connery one last time lol.

I actually quite enjoyed Daniel Craig as James Bond, I wasn't a huge fan of Pierce Brosnan anyway. I haven't seen Quantum of Solace yet, but I hope this doesn't get axed.

Casino Royal was awesome, but Quantum of Solace was very disappointing.

Why does everybody love Craig so much? He's a tool.

I like Daniel Craig, just not as James Bond. I thought QoS was shit. This is good news if you want to see a new JB in a few years.

Meh, i don't like Daniel Craig as James Bond. It went waaaaay too serious for my liking. For me, James Bond was all about the gadgets, the girls and the odd humourous remark

My love for Bond died when Brosnan left :(

I like Craig as Bond just because he stays true to the original Bond without all of the wacky gadgets and ridiculous dialog. Casino Royal must have been one of my favorite Bond films just because it brought back the badassery that is Ian Fleming.

QoS was the worst Bond of all time. What happened to the storyline in QoS? Bond is saving the world but in QoS Bond is stopping someone from stealing water in a 3rd world country (or something like that)?

And when Bond free fell from a plane and pulled his parachute 50 ft from the ground, hits the ground at 200 mph and gets up and walks off unharmed. I laughed and walked out.

No More Daniel Craig? YAY!!!
For some reason he reminds me of 006 from Goldeneye. And you can't have a bad bond.

I liked Daniel Craig, but I'm biased, he was born in the same city as me. :p

If Bond is to never make it again, then at least send him off (kill him) properly in an epic, final movie...I don't care who plays him but it needs to be real...feel real...and get you ready to miss the character as he's finally gone.

I didnt like Daniel Craig and no im not a Brosnan fan. IMO they should either sellout to Fox or Axe the whole series... No more bad 007 Films please. Daniel Craig go home you are not good as Bond.

i would be upset...... Althougth DC isnt the best 007, i would say he is the toughest of them all. I mean i cant think of any other 007 to be strapped to a chair and then get hit in the nuts by a swinging rope with a knot on the end and laugh about hitting a itch.:p

Well, keep in mind that these Bond movies are before any other time line wise so if they killed him it would screw up the whole series

This won't be the end of James Bond, don't be so naive. MGM have cancelled production on Bond 23 for money reasons, nothing more. If they need money that bad, they'll sell the rights to Bond to any of the big companies lobbying for it.

Just for the record, Casino Royale was one of the best Bond movies, whilst Quantum of Solace was easily one of the worst. Eh, maybe I'm biased because these Bond films have been rooted in realism (for the most part), compared to invisible cars of the Brosnan era, and the space stations of Moore's.

Why does everybody love Craig so much? He's a tool.

Probably because he played the role well. Whether or not he's a tool I don't know, but I do know it's irrelevant to what he does on screen.

Like I would have said it myself. And I think Craig played bond really good and Casino Royale might be my favorite Bond film. I even read the book and they were really similar, except for it clearly stating that Bond has BLACK hair. Good story, good book and good film:D

I hope Bond does not end - Daniel Craig does a great job. I will agree they need to work on the plot elements some more, though Quantum is an interesting line to further.
