I seen that R* had got Vice City re-rated in Australia, but I thought it had got confirmed later as just another PC re-release.

Ahh, just read the article.
It actually doesn't confirm it btw.

This is on Kotaku and what I meant about the update thinking it was just another PC release.

UPDATE - While the game is set for a re-release in the near future, it's not as exciting as I got to speculating before. Rockstar's re-rating is down to (http://www.vg247.com/2010/07/08/gta-vice-city-mysteriously-rated-by-oflc/) "back catalogue PC business", re-submitted to the Classification Board "as part of ongoing work with history products".
It's strange to be doing this - I have an Australian budget copy on the shelf in front of me, and it's already been rated - but hey, Rockstar work in mysterious ways.

So did you read the article or are you one of these people who just reads a title and then comments on it regardless of what the actual article says?
(My guess is the latter ;))

No, it's about 12 on Games on Demand. Anyway, San Andreas sucked.

My brother said they had re-rated the game, but I heard nothing more. Im sure the guys over at gtagaming.com will be first on the case if there was.

How appropriate, I just bought Duke Nukem 3d and sonic and knuckles. They weren't fake!

And yeah, If the australian ratings board reclassified a game as 15+, that'll mean its still M/18 elsewhere since they havent modified as heavily in other countries.

I never found any of the GTA games too different. They were all the same to me pretty much. But I only played half of them. I do hear that a few are much better than the others though.

Just buy the original Xbox version of the game. No reason for an arcade version when the normal Xbox one is so abundant (and cheap). Achievements won't make it any better.

Why would it have come out on the XBLA anyways... Wouldn't it be too large?

Superbad325
07-10-2010, 09:52 AM
I have a feeling this is never ever gonna happen. Waaaay too large to be just a mere XBL Arcade title.

Don't get me wrong, I would purchase it in a heartbeat if it comes out. I absolutely loved GTA: VC, and I haven't played it since my ol' Playstation 2 days. And yes, achievements make EVERYTHING better.

If you disagree, GTFO of x360a.org then :p

That's exactly what they told me about my e-penis!

And a pickle can be used sexually in multiple ways, for men (not the way you're thinking) and women (yes, the way you're thinking).

In other noods, I am dissapointed that this isn't arriving on XBLA...and yes it would most likely be the LARGEST arcade game out there (then again...I swear there's at least one by now that has hit 1 GB on memory, a majority are just under a hundred MB...with a few crossing over between 200 - 500 MB). Now San Andreas was...a bit over 1 GB, maybe 2 (I'll have to check when I get a new controller, as I broke my only one awhile ago...which explains me not being on Xbox at all) and that game is significantly larger than Vice City (with only 2 main areas, while large...still only two)...it might be under a gig or just slightly over a gig. I personally don't see it as an impossibility to reconvert the game with achievements, if they can do that with Vice City...they can start doing that with ANY Xbox game...THAT IS if the developers and whatnot actually want to do this option.

Still no ray of hope on Halo: CE and Fable getting achievements just yet...=/

No chance that it comes for XBOX live arcade, but I bet we'll see it along with the other GTA games from last generation as part of a high-definition re-release similar to the God of War re-release and the coming Sly Cooper update. Hopefully, this wouldn't be a PS3 exclusive, however.

You're right if you're just referring to xbox live arcade, but Goldeneye is being remade for the Wii, FFVII is available for the PS network (though a thorough remake may never happen, dammit!), and Sony has announced that collections of PS2, remade for high-def are planned, meaning that there is some hope for last gen's GTA's to be re-released. I wouldn't give up on seeing more of our favorite games in general. It's a good time for fans of classic gaming.

They remade the opening cutscene of FFVII for the PS3 if that counts. :p

Just went and pissed off a lot of fan boys because they thought they were getting a full remake soon.

...Including me. :( I would love a full remake of FFVII. I'd even buy a PS3 just for that game.

^^well nintedo own goldeneyes licence and sony own the origonal FF and GTA licences, so a chance of a remake is slim to nothing. people need to stop complaining and hoping for it and look toward other possiblitys.

like fallout 1/2/tactics. now bethesda own the liecence fore them and they want to do as much a possible with it, it seems more likely they would remake and re-release it on the XBLA and PSN

Sony owning the licenses didn't stop the games from coming out on the Xbox the first time ;) (Not that I think this is going to happen or anything)

I'm sure, there's no limit for the size of an XBLA game, with many of the new games being around 200-500MB, some even around 700MB.

Anyway, I'm sure that Vice City takes up less than a GB of memory.

2GB is the limit on XBLA games.

*"Xbox Live’s director of digitally distributed games, said that file size restrictions were no longer being imposed by Microsoft, but that 2GB is a technical limitation of the system being used. A dfferent file structure is used on Xbox Live Marketplace, for example, which houses larger Games on Demand."

I don't understand this trend of remaking games. I would prefer they'd work on GTA5 rather than any GTA remake.

Besides, I am almost certain this remake wouldn't be as good as all of you expect. Its not about graphics, its about gameplay. Since release of VC gameplay mechanics took great step forward. Many gameplay mechanics used in VC are archaic and almost unplayable in 2010. They would have to remake new graphics, new gameplay, new sounds - why not make entirely new game?

Sorry about this rant, but remaking games makes no sense to me.

Interesting. I couldn't play the early GTA games since I was young when they came out, but I can see this game being fun. I'm still more excited for Sonic Adventure on XBLA.

There are one or two titles in the 1GB range... Sonic and Crazy Taxi are also 700MB+. The limits seem to be expanding constantly, cap was 100MB before, then 250MB, but with the giants on there at the minute, odds are it's gone.

This is my favourite GTA, so I'm hoping it does come out.

I'd say the game is too big in terms of the actual gameplay, not file size. There's many lengthy games that are sub-100mb, and a few short games that are 700+mb. File size means nothing.
