I'm pretty sure component cables would still work.

I am going to add a question to this thread, since mine is similar.

Will the old Dual Component/AV cables work on the new Slim?

They work the same as with the old xbox. The cables pass the same signal. If your TV can accept a resolution that is in HD (1080 to 720) it doesn't matter which cables you use.

Yes Component and Composite cables both send an HD signal.

I think he was asking if they're compatible with the new models, what with the design change and all.

But yeah, they're compatible. Same hookup, so you can use your old cables without a problem.

Yeah they will work with the new xbox 360 Slim, however i got mine today and it comes with the standard AV cables so ensure you have the cables left over or buy some :D

^so you purchase the cables you want... (more money) but if u have old ones, who cares. Just make sure switch power cables as newer ones are better for 360.

All past cables will still work.

I'm pretty sure they discontinued hybrid and HDMI cables awhile ago and opted to package in just composite cables.

Yep, that's not new with the Slim, they've been doing it for awhile now.

Again they haven't included the HDMI cables since they sold 3 packages of xbox's. Those being Arcade, Pro and Elite. Once they dropped the 60 GB Pro model, and replaced that priced model with the Elite they stopped including the HDMI.

Granted you can find the HDMI cables on Amazon for less than $10.

i have a slim and i know my components are only the three plug basic ones whereas the xbox pro has a 6 plug one so im not sure if they would work although i think they work (80% sure)but the slim does have an hdmi port in the back but does not come with plugs for hdmi( i do realize you said your tv does not have hdmi)
