Sensory Records shipped two CDs for review on my site and I just popped in Delain for review. Just about done with it, but I figured I'd bring some attention to the band here as I know there's plenty of Nightwish fans here.

Here's some information on the background of the band that I pulled from Metal-Archives.com

Delain was formed by Martijn Westerholt, the former Within Temptation (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=1006) keyboardplayer, who quit Within Temptation because of health reasons. While his brother Robert remained in Within Temptation, Martijn had to watch the band's break-through from the sideline.

During his sickness (he suffered Pfeiffer's disease for four consecutive years) Westerholt still kept on writing music. This project evolved into Delain. He got some respected Dutch metal musicians (e.g. Sharon den Adel) to help him with the project. Westerholt send demo-tapes to Marco Hietala (Nightwish (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=39)), Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=26706)) and got them involved in Delain aswell.

Martijn contracted the unknown Charlotte Wessels for vocal duties. And although there's a clear link with Within Temptation's older material the music does in fact differ, Delain being less bombastic. Delain looked destined to remain a studio band, but now does go on tour with their new members.

I have a pretty in depth review ready on my site, so if you want to check it out at HERE (http://www.apochs.net/CDs/Delain-Lucidity.html).

Other then that, enjoy those vids and hopefully I opened your eyes to a very underrated band I didn't even know existed.

They're not too bad. I don't think they compare with Tarja's Nightwish, though. Maybe they're like the new Nightwish with.. is it Annette? Annette sounds right, I don't know, though.

When I feel like listening to female vocals and metal, I generally go with Edenbridge. Haven't heard much good power metal lately, so that's about all I can recommend.

Just discovered Lyriel, not moments ago. In the related videos, no less. I thoroughly enjoyed what I heard. Also a female fronted band. Give 'em a listen. It has a hint of folk in it, which I adore.

Edenbridge is always good, I was just bringing this band to everyone's attention. It's very good when you lsiten to the whole thing, though it gets a bit stale.
