I played this yesterday, and up to 16 poeple could join the lobby. After God knows how long everyone pressed ready, the game started loading, and two things could happen:
- the mission would load, 16 people would play in the same mission, and after some checkpoint we'd be returned to the lobby after an error
- the mission would start loading, but we'd soon be returned to the lobby after an error

First infinite loading, now 16-player lobbies without the possibility of finishing a mission.

You get what you pay for.

There is an update today. I don't know if it's addressed this. It has to do with the anti-griefing.

The patch was mostly against the spawn killing in freeroam and some other glitches occuring in singleplayer. No word on coop missions.. sadly

Yupp its happened to everyone..its some crazy glitch apparantly lol

Yeah it's 4 maximum so the error occured when the lobby allowed 16 players to join up hence why it would not work properly.
