I thought I'd try and bring some positivity to this forum by making an under rated band members thread :)

I'll start off by saying Toni Iommi for Black Sabbath, that dude pretty much single handedly invented heavy metal, yet he never seems to be mentioned on as one of the best guitarists of our time, which in my opinion is a criminal injustice.

Jeff Hanneman from Slayer.

Everyone bangs on about Kerry King, but Jeff is the better guitarist, and a hell of a lot funnier.

Kenneth Owen, drummer of Carcass,
King Diamond, 'nuff said,
John/Juan Alderete, bassist of Racer X and The Mars Volta,

Chad Smith - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Sean Kinney - Alice in Chains

Woody Weatherman - Corrosion of Conformity

Tim Sult - Clutch

Andrew Wood - Mother Love Bone

Alex Skolnick - Testament

And of course Wes Borland from Black Light Burns and Limp Bizkit. I'm not saying that he's technical, but he's so different, especially in LB. And he is a great fit for BLB as a vocalist.

Jens Kidman, the singer of Meshuggah.

All focus with Meshuggah is always on Thomas Haake, and while he is also underrated amongst drummers, Jens is shadowed by him. His growls and voice is just perfect for Metal.

Also, Alex Grind of Despised Icon, man is just beast. If he actually did a solo, i'm pretty sure people would die.

YouTube- Despised Icon - i was pissed haahaha

I mean seriously, look at the reach the man uses to hit cymbals, most drummers would clusterfuck the shit and make it so easy. Also, the man ragequits and blows out his ceiling light if your wondering

Haha, true! But out of the band, he is probably the least talked about, not involving Stone Sour.

Haha, well, he isn't underrated, he just isn't as well known as Grohl and Cobain. Everyone knows who Kurt Cobain is and everyone mainly knows who Dave Grohl is and Foo Fighters. That was my mistake ;)

Wes Borland is a pretty unique and underrated guitarist. I just think it's unfortunate that he was paired with Fred Durst.

That and Scott Reeder of Kyuss is a well-rounded musician and bassist.

Really, I think most bassists are underrated. Unless, you're Flea.

JIM ROOT?-no, all of his solos are just up and down and horribly out of tune scale, and that is coming from a metal head, I am not one of those people who say metal is mindless noise

And Johnny Christ has his moments but other times, he is really boring and repetitive, so I GUESS he is under rated

Slash was underrated for a while
