I don't watch much TV, just US series like 24, Weeds, Nip/Tuck, etc, but my misses made so much fuss about watching this program, I decided to watch it with her, and for British TV, this is absolute gold! I look forward to seeing it on Sky1 every thursday night, has anyone else seen it? I think this is the funniest program I have seen in years.

Best and funniest thing to come to tele or even Sky1 in a long time!

Tonights episode will be amazing and I recommend everyone watch it!

He's info on it if you dont know what we're talking about!

An Idiot Abroad charts Pilkington's reaction when visiting the New Seven Wonders of the World as well as to the situations he's placed in, the country's cultural habits and idiosyncrasies. It was stated by the shows producers that Pilkington has no prior warning about these situations.Gervais commented: "This is a (more real) documentary than most others you'll ever see on television. We don't plan it, he doesn't know what's going to happen.

The ongoing theme of both the television series and the book is that Karl Pilkington indicates he has no interest in global travel and so Merchant and Gervais make him travel, for the purposes of the documentary, while they themselves stay in London and monitor his progress. There is an official podcast,to accompany the programme and book of An idiot Abroad.

Pilkington, Gervais and Merchant had previously worked together on The Ricky Gervais Show on XFM.

I first heard of Karl on the Ricky Gervais Show and thought he was the funniest thing in it. I'm in two minds about him though; either he is a dumb, vacuous numpty who is extremely close-minded; or he is a comedy genius who is extremely quick-witted.

Either way he is really, really funny! :)

Was watching him tonight in Mexico at one of the Aztec sacrificial pyramids and there he is listening to The Human League jigging around - he is definately taking the piss out of us all just like Sacha Baren-Cohen I have decided, a very clever guy I reckon :D

Hope he gets his own show off of this :Bounce:

They kinda sent the wrong person abroad, Ricky should be the idiot going abroad, but it is good for a laugh, i'd recommend it.

It's as if he's clever at being stupid. Absolute genius. Some of the shit he comes out with is comedy gold.

Absolutely amazing program.

I know it's resurrecting a thread that's 7 months old, but i thought I'd not make the mistake I had with my podcast thread.
I just started watching this show (thank you internet tubes) and I think it's fantastic. What's great too is that Karl says out loud what a lot of us would be thinking and too scared to say.
