says in the manual that you can turn these off without any sort of clue as to how.

I belive it was part of the gameoptions in the options menu. But you have to scroll down a little to see it...

Just watch at the first page of the Options menu...
You can also change your aging duration. For me example I've aging on and aging duration to epic.

I think Living World is actually called Story Progression.

Go to options, then where it says "enable ageing" untick the box :)

If you want more challenge but ageing enable and lifetime epic then every time when you are close to turn to next age eat ambrosia that turn your current life state back to start. Example you have 9 days till you turn to elder if you eat ambrosia it turns back to 225 days till elder this way you can die but you can keep yourself alive as long as you remember to eat ambrosia:woop:
You can add more challenge if you turn lifetime brief. Then you must have to make ambrosia all the time:)
