how many points do you need to have achieved before you can walk away thinking you did good at that game?

4 me it all depends if i like the game and the difficulty...i basically set the goal @ 1000 ....but some r time consuming so i usually get up to around 700+ and then slowly but surely work my way to the 1000....and games like amped 3 i just put off because it made me 2 frustated 2 get all gold on...but I WILL eventually go bk and do it

I choose the 850-1000 one. I feel pretty annoyed if I can't get more than that. I'm gonna be going back over games to try and get the extra points.

depends on the game. got the 1000 from fifa in 4 hours but didnt enjoy it that much, only got 375 in tiger, played it to death tho...

Even if I cant stand I game I will try and get at least 200-300 on it. My saddest game is CoD2 as I only have 110 points on it and have sold it.

It's just the points I know I could get but I dont bother with are annoying.

I'll compile a list;

- Completing PDZ Co-Op on Perfect Agent.
- All Full & Semi auto medals in Full Auto.
- Online Win in NBA.
- Stupid Milestones in NFS.

When I get my 360 back from Microsoft, I'm going to re-get these games to get the last points. :)

I don't know, some games are so bad, that I don't even bother getting past 1 or 2 achievements (I haven't played any on my xbox, just some friends). And others, I'll play my xbox non-stop just to get them.

If I can play the game I aim for 500+ games like Perfect Dark Zero or Quake for example I just did not like them enough to care >.> but I'm sure I'll go back to them at some point and try.

i choose 800-999 but i really prefer 100 but some games with certain online ahcivements prevent that i really don't wanna play so many arcade games in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, play so many games in splinter cell and buy points just so i can unlock more stuff to get more achievements in crackdown or play annex in Gears to get those annex ach.

I play until I beat the game and get the full 1000 points. In the order of how good the game is to the crappy games for last.

Mirksta
12-17-2007, 03:53 PM
800+. I try to go for 1000 but I never usually do, so 800+ is respectable enough.

Bullet2theface
12-17-2007, 03:54 PM
600+ is good enough, depends how the achievements for the game are though.

Justicezero
12-17-2007, 03:55 PM
The ADD usually keeps me from ever attaining the 900-1000 range. And if i really enjoy the game, 800 is good enough for me, though for some games I never reach that.

artvandel4y
12-19-2007, 06:58 AM
For me it used to be 600, then I got gamefly, and I no longer wanted to get too many more achievements that didn't require more than 5 minutes of my time. Also many achievements have gotten harder in the past year, so that has contributed to my ratio's decline. It really depends on the game as well.

goenitz96
12-19-2007, 07:57 AM
Thats depend of the game. I don't spend so much time if the game is boring.
Personally I try to get 1000 if possible, or else 750 is fine for me.
I usually let down time consuming achievements (ex flags in assassin creed, seriously in gow, level up in blue dagon....), and some online achievement is i don't like the online mode (what's the point of playing saint row online when you have gow?)

TyloSB
12-19-2007, 08:20 PM
If the game is good I shoot for the 1000. 850+ is good enough for me but if I leave the score low it bugs me and haunts me until i go back and pick it up.

B Rad8908
12-19-2007, 08:32 PM
On games I rent or borrow from friends I'll usually get all the achievements that aren't extremely time consuming or really hard. So that's usually about 700 or so gamerscore, depending on the game. If it's a game I buy then a full 1000 is what I expect.

Honkymagoo
12-19-2007, 08:32 PM
Eh I love achievements but I just can't be bothered to go out of my way for some of them. Especially when there are tough achievements in shitty games. If it's a good game I usually like to get in the 900 range and the 1000 if possible. Even if they get put off for awhile I like to come back and at least try to finish them.

Sanction
12-19-2007, 08:37 PM
I'll take a solid 750 out of a game. But if it's a game I know I can finish I'll go for the gold.

LethalRope
12-19-2007, 08:42 PM
For me its 500-600 because that usually means i've completed the main campaign and done some side & online achievements aswell.

DoM cAbAn
12-19-2007, 08:45 PM
There's really no minimum Gamerscore that I want to achieve in a game. I'll stop getting Achievements for a game once I feel I've had enough with it.

xGodDogx
12-19-2007, 08:47 PM

sam49
12-20-2007, 01:32 PM

zdarko43
12-20-2007, 01:40 PM
i try to get the full 1k in the game, but there are obviously games that are just TOO time consuming for anything of the sort.
for example? graw - once i hit the 897 or whatever it is, i'll be satisfied. and if i can even get 500 in quake i think i'll be happy there too. :)

but for the most part i like to try to complete the game to the fullest. its more badass to see the 1000s fill your list rather than 100 - 540 - 655 - 840 - etc... (you get the idea)

Steelhead
12-20-2007, 02:21 PM
My goal is usually 500, then if I'm enjoying it I will continue. There are quite a few games that were just too crappy to continue, so I end up with 200 or less. I like achievements but I doubt I'll ever be at the point where I play shitty games to get them. If so, it's time to sell my console, me thinks.

Unless it's a shitty game that can be done in 3 minutes, like Avatar http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h236/brettben1/Emoticons/lol2.gif

jackanape
12-20-2007, 02:23 PM
1000 every time but I do allow exceptions for games that are just too time consuming and even then that is only ever for online achievements. For games like Battlefield, Table Tennis, Splinter Cell, Chromehounds etc where the online achs are too hard to get because of time and dwindling communities then I'll settle for 700+.

I always go for every single offline achievement regardless - as there is nothing stopping me from getting them other than my own time and dedication.

moomoocowsly
12-20-2007, 04:40 PM
Usually 400-500 is enough to make me happy, but I don't really mind. I rented King Kong the other day and got 1 achievement before the crappy scratched disc started messing up. I don't care enough about only having 100 in that to bother renting it again though.

Depends on the game, I'll usually go for 1000, but if I see that that'll be impossible I'll try for as many points as are reasonably achievable.

fuzzy510
12-21-2007, 08:18 PM
I think it completely depends on the game. Assassin's Creed, for instance? I knew I could get all 1000 if I put the time in. To get anything less would've been disappointing. Same thing for me with Beautiful Katamari - it's 1250 or bust.

On the other hand, a game like Guitar Hero III is so ridiculously hard for some of them (20 perfect runs on Expert? Yeah, right) that I know I'll go berserk before I get the full 1000.

I don't have the internet at home, so no online achievements for me. That and the collecting achievements piss me off. 45 lamda caches, fine, 30 cog tags, fine, but 600 orbs! 100 flags! I know lots of people like that, but it just isn't fun to me. If the game has a means of keeping track of them (like the orange box did) then that's great, but I'm not going to try to keep track of something like 600 orbs myself.

So I get what I can, I use them as a means to challenge myself, but if it gets to the point where it makes me want to drill a hole in my head I put it back in the nice envelope and send it back.

12-24-2007, 04:50 PM
Depends for me, I guess:

If I enjoy the game - 1000

If the game is okay - 600-800 range, because I won't feel like rehashing levels to beat times, get items.

I'm a completionist, so I really, really like to get all the achievements for a given game. I don't have a ton of time to play, so it usually takes some time, but I love the feeling of getting that last achievement and seeing that 1000 (or 1250 or 1100) when I'm done.

I'm happy with getting around 400 points for a game, but I really try to get at least 50% of the points for each game, so I said 600-800.

I truly the games that I have a low gamerscore in, but I hate playing games I don't like even more, so there you have it, for games I don't like as little as 20 points will do for me :P Games I like I play untill I get to insane achievements that would drag the game too much, games I truly love I will play untill I reach around 950/1000, depends on which new games come out and how much time it takes to complete things. ATM my completionratio is about 67%, I would like to see it go up to 70-75% though, not because of the points involved, but because it means I bought fun games and didn't waste too much money on garbage ;)

Who128
12-28-2007, 02:55 AM
I shoot for 1000 (of course!) but when i find out that the achievements are hard and tedious, then i lower my standard to 800-900, then if they are impossible like GH3, then anything goes!

Vista
12-28-2007, 03:22 AM
Well if they are possible while having fun (like Halo 3), Why not 1000. Plus the incentive of some nice armor will drive me to play Level 8 cortana more than the required one time (because that level sucks).

I dont buy a ton of games so I usually try to finish them as much as I can. Many of the game I have are very difficult to get 1000 on, so I try for at least 800-900 in each (still have a ways to go in some titles).

Otisbum

100.

I like a little bit in all of my games. More is great, but I really dislike seeing a game that I have no achievements in.

EDIT:
Well if they are possible while having fun (like Halo 3), Why not 1000. Plus the incentive of some nice armor will drive me to play Level 8 cortana more than the required one time (because that level sucks). Seriously. I'm one of those "kill everything by taking two steps forward and one step back" guys, and it took me three hours to beat that level the first time. I go back through with my brother every now and then and it only takes 30 min. on Heroic and under 1 hour on Legendary.

Typically I go for at least 800, but I'd like to get them all for completion's sake. Some of the games on my card, GoW, RSV, CoD2, GH2, are no where near complete because those are some of the harder 1000's. I'm working on the 1250 in Oblivion right now and I might eventually go back for the full 1000 in CoD2, just depends on what I'm playing.

I think it depends on the game if its a game that takes over your life, 1000 points dont hold back, if its a game you just rent, like finish the game and see what you get.

i would love to think i am a dedicated 1000 point a game kind of guy but am clearly not

Most of the time im happy if i get about 600 gs...
But with games i really like i normaly want at least 800 or more if possible..

sam49

It depends on the game for me. If it's a fun or easy game, I'll try and get as many points as I can that are a bare necessity. Depending on how tough an achievement is, it depends on whether or not I'll go for it. When I'm playing a tough game like GH3 that I suck at, I try and get as many easy achievements as I can but it won't be a lot.

I'd be happy with any triple figure achievement point score in a game. However, i like to aim for around 500. It's then i decide whether i should push for more or just give up. If i don't reach 500 i either don't like the game or it's too hard/time consuming.
