This sale is running from today until 1/2/11, however F1 2010 and Fallout 3 GotY are on the daily deal for today and will only be at that price until 1:00 PM Eastern tomorrow. Those 2 games will be on sale for the full duration of this, but the price will go up a little tomorrow. Obviously there is the potential for any of these games to be on later daily deals as well so you may want to hold off on buy anything till the last day so you can wait for a better price during the event.

EDIT: Here is one more GFWL game that is on sale, however it is one that is not stackable. In other words, the GFWL version and the Xbox 360 version both show up as the same game on your gamercard.

Universe at War: Earth Assault (http://store.steampowered.com/app/10430/) - $14.99

I just bought the Dues Ex and Unreal collection last week at full price, and now it's only 1.49 for Dues Ex and 7.99 for the Unreal pack. I could have saved myself about 20 if only I waited a bit longer.

Even though I bought a few of them seperately, I think I'm going to buy the complete Valve pack when I get paid this week.. Quite a nice saving on that.

Yeah... I've learned to basically never buy anything on Steam if it isn't on sale because they do so many sales so often. Even by that logic I still could have saved more on some things. Recently I picked up the Deus Ex collection for $4.99, and now it's $2.99, and I got Evil Genius for $2.50, and now it's $1.49. These prices are basically like they are giving games away.

Yeah it's pretty insane, definitely a lesson learned the hard way..

YouTube - It's the Christmas Steam Sale! OH GOD MY WALLET

After watching this video I'm definitely going to wait a bit before purchasing games from Steam in future.

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question I always get confused of which PC games/which versions have LIVE achievements. Do RE5/Bioshock 2 or Burnout Ultimate Box have LIVE achievements?

Here's a few links to help you out.

First of all, there is THIS THREAD (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31059) by The Pants Party which is stickied at the top of this forum. It contains a list of every single GFWL game as well as some other useful information.

Second, there is the PC LISTS (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/games/pc/) section under the Achievements link at the top of the page. Any game that appears in this section is a PC game that has a unique achievement list, meaning that it is stackable with it's Xbox 360 counterpart (assuming there is an Xbox 360 version).

Once you know which games have achievement lists you need to be aware that not all versions of those games do. Obviously if you download the game via the GFW client or website (http://www.gamesforwindows.com/) then it is going to have the achievements, but other sources may not.

When buying a retail copy make sure they have the Games for Windows Live logo on the box. Some games have the Games for Windows logo, but if the word LIVE is not there then they do not have achievements.

When buying games from Steam you need to look at the detailed product description. Somewhere in it, usually under System Requirements: Other Requirements, it will say "online play requires log-in to Games for Windows LIVE". If it does not say this then there is no way to link that game with your gamertag and therefore no way to get achievements.

Now, as for the specific games you asked about:

Bioshock 2: Yes, it has achievements and they can be obtained via the Steam version. Also, this game is on the daily deals for today for $9.99 until 1:00 PM Eastern tomorrow.

Resident Evil 5: Yes, it has achievements but you can NOT get them via the Steam version. You must either download it from GFW or get a retail copy to get achievements in it.

Burnout Paradise: No, it does not have achievements in the PC version nor does any other Burnout game currently available for PC.

Quick heads up, If you were planning on getting batman for $14.99 you can now get Red Faction, Flatout AND batman for $14.49, 50 cents cheaper AND you get 2 more games as they are all the deals of the day :P

I realize this thread is old, but I wanted to chime in to let others know. I just bought Resident Evil 5 off of Steam ($14.99) and it DOES have GWFL and achievements that go on to your xbox360 gamertag.

Ah, I assumed that the Steam version did not have achievements as there is no mention whatsoever to GFWL in the description. Good to know that it actually does have achievements, though bad to know now that it is basically impossible to know whether the Steam version of a game has achievements or not prior to buying since apparently not all games mention it in the description.

I suppose this means I need to check on my Steam copies of Osmos and World of Goo that I got from the Humble Indie bundle a while back, as I have never actually played the Steam versions since I already had them on GFWL prior to buying that bundle.

I was actually just in the process of writing up a list of the availability of PC games with achievements, so I guess now I have more research to do...
