Discuss the achievements, when they are revealed, in this thread!

I'd like to work on the achievement guide but the game isnt out for another month.

I was hoping for less quest completion-achievements and more achievements like " Punch off 10 heads " or " Shoot off 10 arms " etc etc

Looks simple enough. Probably three playthroughs for the karma achievements. Most annoying ones will probably be the bobbleheads and killing all the super mutant behemoths.

I hate finding all the collectibles in these free roaming games.

The rest of these look really fun though.

these achievements look quite easy. Not sure if the karma ones require 3 play thru but seems like a 1000/1000 in a rental or 2 rentals.

Im actually really disappointed. This just looks too easy. There are no really challenging ones and some of them look kinda boring. I was really hoping for a long, arduous set of testing achievements that would keep me playing this game for ages. But this is the total opposite! Oh well, I'll still get it for its sheer awesomeness but i think the achievements are a missed oppotunity.

I like the list...except..... I am not a big fan of achievements that require more than one or two play-troughs...so the karma ones seem a bit annoying if thats how they are unlocked.

I think its going to be similar to oblivion in the fact that it will just take along time but most will be easy enough to get by playing through the countless hours of game-play....similar to the achievements for each guild and main story in oblivion

armareum

I think the reason they've gone for generic quest completions, rather than specific ways' of completing them is due to them not trying to mandate HOW you play the game? Okay, so some of the missions may mean you're seen are more evil or benevolent just for completing them; but most apparently allow you to do it in your own style: tech knowledge, FPS/shooter skills, stealthy skills or even talk your way through things.

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this question but its about an achievement so i figured i would ask.

Im just wondering exactly what the super mutant behemoths look like, if anyone has seen a picture of what they look like and how big they are.

Seems like a nice, fun list. I like RPG lists when they're fun lists.

Mass Effect's list = NOT fun.

Are these all of the side quests? Please answer no. I hope there are more side quests than these.

Well, Oblivion(same developer) had similar achievements regarding quest completions, but still had dozens of other side-quests which had no effect on your gamerscore.

I must say, out of all achievement lists this is by far one of the best. The titles, descriptions, and pictures are all great. You can tell alot of thought have been put into these, not an super easy 1000 but not a extremely hard one either.

Can't wait til earn these ;)

This is the kind of achievement list that will make the game more enjoyable for me. I can do as I please and know that I will be rewarded constantly as I progress through the story. When I want to explore and muck about, I shall... and when the achievement whore in me starts to nag, I can burn through the story.

Often in Oblivion I would stop getting achievements because I got swallowed up by the sheer magnitude of the freedom available to me. I was still having oodles of fun... but I like achievements too. I had to kick myself in the arse and concentrate of the main story missions to get my gamerscore more in line with someone who invested a ton of time into the game.

I think because of that I disconnected a bit from the world and the story... but if I had continued on at my previous pace, I'd maybe finish Oblivion's main and guild quests sometime in 2020. All in all, achievement lists like this are the perfect balance for me.

These achievements look great. Easy enough to have some instant gratification throughout the game, and hard enough so it'll take more than one or two days. I look forward to playing through a few times and seeing how each act plays out differently. And of course the numerous side quests will be great to explore. Just a shame it comes out so close to GoW 2, I'll have to cut down my Fallout 3 time.

Feh, once again, irritating how the icons and names of some of the achievements give away some of the plot and mission objectives. Whatever happened to obscure and esoteric names for odd achievements? At least there aren't any KILL A MILLION ZILLION RADSCORPIONS WITH THE RED RYDER BB GUN achievements.

Been wondering about this for a while.

"Doesn't Play Well with Others" achievement requires you to kill 300 people.

For some reason I can vaguely remember hearing somewhere that there are 300 NPCs in the game...does this mean you have to kill every single person or am I missing something? (I may be wrong about the amount of NPCs, mind).

Looks like a simple 1000, only hard achievements i can see are going to be the bobbleheads, but there is only a guide out, so possible pumping a week or less of time into this game and 1000 will be easy to comeby.

I have a theory I haven't done yet...but since this is my first playthrough i'll put it to the test. I'm thinking that I make 3 separate saves when I hit level 7, 13, and 19 (which are the levels before you get the achievements) and then all I have to do is when I hit the next level (cause I have bad karma) I just load a game and get down to neutral....then do the same thing when I level up again and get good karma. If it works I won't have to play the game 3 times through.

If it works I won't have to play the game 3 times through. well idk if youve done it yet but i thought of this while playing yesterday and yes it does work. you should wait till your like 200-250 points away from hittin the next level with bad karma achievements, and 50 points form the good karma ones. it saves alot of time, and try to stick with neutral karma. easiest way to do that is pick good, nice choices, but raid houses and lockpick like crazy. keeps it safe. when your about 250 points away, make 2 new saves . for bad karma just go to megaton and headshoot the doctor nd raid his stash. this might help with the stimpaks and all. having partners helps a whole lot too. go on a killing spree, and kill everyone who doesnt have a gun, you get less Exp, but the same amount of bad karma. keep checking if you have bad karma. when you do, dash for the exit and keep running, you wont level up if Simms is chasing you. when you level up you should get this achievement. for the Good achievements, be 50 points away, then go to megaton and donate alot of caps to the ATom Church. when you have good karma, just go to a place with raiders and fight em. this one should work.

i coulndt get the Good one for level 8 tho because i didnt make 2 saves when needed to. i was lucky i had a chance to get them tho. i leveled up on neutral to 8 without watching my Exp, i saved where i was at and then reloaded the Autosave point. when you do this, save another file so you can go back. so for me i will have to play it a second time.

i hope this helps for those who dont wanna replay it again, especially with Gears 2 around the corner.

- There's no online mode, so there are no online-achievements.

- Annoying quests... Some of them are rather tedious (like the one you get in Paradise Falls), but most of them are really fun and they are the biggest part of the achievements. Just be sure to have enough time to really enjoy the game, especially collecting all the bobbleheads can get very time consuming (at least it did so far for me).

If you just burn through the main story line you could beat the game fairly quickly. The allure of this game to me is the vast world to explore. There are more than enough locations to keep you occupied for 40+ hours easy... imo. As for your second question, no xbox live needed.

How do you pass on a game because it takes a wile to get 1000gs?

Also, why do the bobbleheads seem to be the pain in the ass? It looks like the karma ones would be the most anoying ones. Are they hidden very well or something?

The Karma achievements aren't that bad. If you follow the guide about those achievements then you will get them no problem.
The bobbleheads aren't that bad. Just go to the place where it says in the guide and look around. I think only one or two of them are actually hidden behind something.

From what i understand all i have to do is have good karma the whole time then save befor i level up to 8 14 and 20 or what ever they are. then do some bad stuff till im nutral then level up. load save and do more bad stuff till im evil then level up then load save and just level up as good. Is that the correct process?

Yes. Make a couple saves when you are the level before as good, then kill a bunch of people to go down to Neutral and save again, then level up, then reload and get down to Evil. Level up, and then just load up your original save and level up as Good.

For a game that looks so huge its strange that it is such an easy 1000. they could have made it much harder. None of them stand out as being very difficult. I think theres over 600gs alone for doing all the main story and side quests. Most of the other points will come from just playing the game. I was reading the guide and for the karma ones it said use the method of sandman, what is that?

Jokez NZ
12-05-2008, 06:57 AM
I think they made it an easy 1000 gamerscore so everyone that wants it does all the Quests thus making them play all the game. If they made the gamerscore only established with, say, the main storyline then a lot of people wouldn't bother with the side quests.

Scientific Pursuits- 20 G
This one starts immediately after “Following in his footsteps” you will need to travel to Rivit City and head to the science lab in the middle section of the ship. Once you talk to a few lab geeks there you will get this achievement.

Does anyone know if this actually unlocks inside the science lab or or in the Project purity's control room???

I dont remember when that one pops, sorry.

I have to say, the first 10 hours of this game was bland for me, I'm glad I stuck it out though. It's "tough" until you level up and get a few perks. I feel there are too little quests. I understand that not every quest should give achievements, but I just feel like their could have been more (regardless of if there is going to be DLC). I also thought the kill 300 humans should be "humanoid" counting at least super mutants, but I'm only 16 away now.

Man the first few times I had a few supermutants after me was intense, now it's no biggie. I still have only fought two deathclaws so I dont know how that will go.

I was having problems with the behemoth achievement just now. I couldnt get the last one to appear, so I started to leave the area and he rushed me. Unfortunately, he was really too close for me to use the fat boy, but I used it anyways :-). While crippling his head (head shots for everything!), I also got hit pretty hard.....what happened. Mysterious stranger finished him off with 1 shot. I found it very funny as alot of people complained about him never showing up and he poped the behemouth for me, given he was pretty much dead.

i will have this game for a week now and i will get the 1k fast

1) How many Playthroughs do I need?
2) How long will the 1k take?
3) Do I have to look out for specific things for my playthrough ?
4) Are the Guide posted in this forum good enough ? or has someone a good walkthrough where the achievements are sorted (i hat unsorted achievements guide :(, but i respect the hard work for a guide ;) )

It depends on how quickly you play through it. Some take a long time. The Nuka Cola Challenge might take you the longest, unless you start collecting the Quantums from the beginning.

Most will come by playing through the game. As for the one that have Karma, just play your normal game until the level before the achievement (save at level 7, 13, 19). Save the game, and then lower or raise your karma. Go to the next level but don't save, and restart your original game.

The behemoths you don't necessarily "You have to kill" its just that all the behemoths in the game are dead you just need to be around it when it dies.
The behemoths cannot die unless the player is around just to clear that up.

Hey, quick question here. When I go through the new "blades" to look at this games achievements, the summary for Fallout 3 will say it has 58 achievements, but then when I go in too look at each achievement there are only 54 listed, and the pitt ones are missing. I haven't downloaded the pitt yet (will be soon) and I was wondering if this is some sort of glitch or if it's normal. And if it's a problem how do i fix it?

Ok so I was playing the Anchorage DLC offline (my internet has been so fucking moody lately), I was on my way to getting 'Operation:Anchorage', achievement and decided to stop playing.
Well, my friend brought over his harddrive and i downloaded my account onto his so we could play some RE5 co-op. Since I was never signed into Live to begin with, I am now exactly where I was, but without my achievements.

My question is: do I have to start over from a previous save or is there a way to get them to unlock?

I think the achievements in this game are just fine. I mean, Ones such as the Karma level ones are tedious, but what I did was play through the first time as an Evil character, I'm currently over 3/4s of the way to level 19, with four quests left, so I know I'll get it, so what I will probably do is save a quest til the end, and make a save. And then do that quest, and re load that save, change my karma to good, or neutral, and then get the level up again, and repeat. Then I could start another playthrough as a good or neutral character, just to play the game for fun. In my second or third playthrough my intention is to reach all 13 skills to 100. So that'll be a challenge. I still have to reach Neutral and Good Karma at level 8 and 14 so I know I'll have at least one more play through. Tonight I'm probably going to go to a few towns and massacre them all and get that achievement.

The one thing I do not like about this game are the Deathclaws. They rape my followers -_-. Well... Dogmeat at least... Not so much Jericho.
Just taking on one is a challenge for me right now... I'm in the process of getting all 50 terminals, and 100 locations. As well as the bobbleheads... That way I will really only have to worry about 4 achievements on my next playthrough and have fun. This will probably be the second game I reach 1000/1000 on, and mainly due to the fact that there's no online achievements... I lack the funds for Live... And it's not the live itself, it's the connector cable set up.

Ordo
04-11-2009, 04:14 AM
Okay... Well after reaching level twenty and manipulating the system, I got all three level 20 cheats... But... because I neglected a certain bobblehead late in the game, I am now screwed out of one bobblehead... which is a bite, because if not for that one, I could get all but 4 achievements in one play through... Oh well.

No it's not permanetly glitched. You will get the points for that achievement when you unlock your first achievement. I'm not sure it will give the Death from above achievement again, but otherwise you will get the points after getting Shock Value or a level 30 achievement (if you get the level 30 before shock value).

I have Death From Above unlocked on my xbox 360 but it doesn't show online. Also when I got the level 30 achievements it didn't unlock.
I read somewhere that you can unlock it again by recovering your gamertag on another xbox and then recover it to your own xbox. This way the achievement will be erased and will be available for unlocking again.
I have a save game just before unlocking the achievement so this eve, I will try if this works.

EDIT: It worked for me.

Until now, it hasn't been patched. Since it is a fairly easy DLC to complete on very easy, it won't take that long.
If you don't save often on different save games, then you will have a problem. If not, then it can be easily redone.

I can't confirm it, but it wouldn't make sense ifyou douldn't.

The same thing happens when you complete Take it back, as it did before you DL:d BS.

#1: You enter the purifier
#2: Ending cutscene (this is where you get the achievement)
#3: Credits
#4: Either you go to the main menu or a "Two weeks later" screen..

So number 4 is the only thing that is different between having BS or not.. And you get the achievement before #4 anyway :)

If it is nuka-cola quantum you are looking for, check this

Difficulty affects experience gained (you get lower for lower difficulty, high for higher difficulty). That technically affects achievements since it will take you longer to level up. But you can get every achievement on any difficulty.

If there's one thing I hate about these achievements, it's that some of them interfere with others or have to be done in a certain order. I was really hoping to get them all in one run  Like for example: Paradise Falls and Strictly Business. After getting the Paradise Falls mission completed message, there should've also been a message saying something about the Strictly Business side quest failed or lost. The quest alone seems short, but having to find the locations again is going to suck, especially Rivet City, I hated traveling to that place.

You can do both quests on one character in either order, if I'm not mistaken. You can buy the children to finish the quest, then do Strictly Business. And you could always just run straight to Paradise Falls on a new character to get the achievement. And making new characters is fun anyways, getting all the level achievements legit is a blast.

I have a question about the "Vault-Tec C.E.O." achivement. I am almost done with the game and all the achivements, but i have this one left. Now i didnt take the one in Vault 101 or the one in Colonel Autumn's office:( But i have saved the game after each quest. So can i go back to the saves where i can take them and then get the achivement? Or do i have to have all 20 in my pipboy to get the achivement?

You need them all at once. If you haven't finished 'Trouble on the Homefront' you can still get the Vault 101 bobblehead, but the one in Raven Rock is one time only. Go back to your save before Raven Rock, if you haven't done 'Homefront' then you can get both and then get the others.

I was recently trying to get the Silver Tongued Devil, (you have to succeed at 50 speech challenges) achievement by using the Big Town glitch where you talk to that Bittercup girl then to Pappy. I tried it once and I succeed but it wouldn't let me do it again. Has this glitch been patched?
Thanks in Advance

Yeah its been patched. To get that achievement in an equally easy way, go to Little Lamplight and find a child called knock-knock. Engage in convo and ask to hear his joke, after hearing it you have a [speech] option. It was 100% with me so I couldn't fail. You can keep going through the dialogue and choosing the speech option until the achievement pops up.

Hope that helps.

If I get Mothership Zeta, it will be my first DLC for Fallout. Will I be able to get any other achievements besides the one's in Mothership Zeta? (ex. level 30 w/ bad karma)

No, the level 30 achievements are for Broken Steel. I highly recommend you get that first, since you don't get the level cap increase without it.

I dont know if this has already been asked but if I have already passed through little lamplight and progressed through the story further am i unable to go back and get the "Rescue from Paradise" quest? Because i went back and talked to Mayor and he didn't seem to be offering a quest ):

The reason im posting is because i actually found the guide a little confusing.

Please reply asap, and let me know what i need to do if there is anything i can do.

cheers

If you gained entrance to Little Lamplight through other means such as a speech challenge, you should be able to simply buy the slaves from Eulogy for 2,000 caps and then escort them back. Conversely, if you don't have the caps, you can kill all the Slavers in Paradise Falls.

On a side note, when you are escorting the children back they will follow you everywhere including your next mission[s] locations. It's great because they can take a Guantanamo Bay ass beating and serve as a great Super Mutant diversion.

I wonder if this has happened to anyone else. I've completed Blood Ties (not the proper way where you go and find Ian etc but it said it completed) but not got the achievement. Since then I've been underground and seen the underground base, Vance et al were hostile so I had to blow them away. Now what can I do? Is there anyone I need to see? Lucy West doesn't care, Ian West doesn't care, Vance is brown bread, everyone in Arefu are also kaput so what next?

Bit gutted that I found this place after I did trouble on the home front and missed that bobblehead.

You definitely have to do a bit of pre-planning in order to get the most out of your playthroughs. If you want to get all the personality achievements in one go, then just play as a good character until your alignment is maxed out. Then, go into some major cities (Big Town, Rivet City) and murder all the civilians. You can just save before you go on your rampage.

Is it just me, or between the awesome gameplay, cheats, and codes for items, this game just never gets old. Had someone else beat for me on my 360 but PC is just so fun! definetly going to expand my windows live library beyond just this game lol

Can anyone give me some insight on The Bigger They Are... (Kill all 5 Behemoth things) achievement? Do I personally have to kill all of them? Because I recently started the game, and I came across the story-related behemoth. However, the mercenaries pretty much took it out. Does it still count?

you don't have to kill them. as long as they die, you're good to go.

What is the fastest way to level up?

Do any and every side quest and kill everything that moves while you do it. But in the beginning of the game actually going out and completing The Wasteland Survival Guide for Moira can really help with experience.

Hours can be as little or as much as you want them to be. But I can tell you that you need at LEAST three playthroughs to get all the achievements. This is because of the Good/Neutral/Bad Karma achievements. Make sure to save one of those playthroughs to boost your science skill to get the Hacked Terminals achievement.

hey dude,
You dont need 3 playthroughs!
Simply make save points when you are close to the releated level before you level up..If you have good karma just go to megaton, rivet city etc and steel everything you can. This will make your karma go to neutral and bad etc..Then all you gotta do is level up and the achievements will pop up.Then just deleate these saves and reload your original save point and carry on your game..
This way will save your hundreads of hours mate :drunk
