Topic.

Just loaded up Kinect Sports for a game of Bowling, and my Kinect sensor says it can't detect the floor! WTF?! I haven't moved the sensor since I was playing 2 player Bowling last night, and the floor of my Flat is in the same place it has always been and the sensor has worked perfectly until now.

I know it's still under warranty from Game and MS, should I contact them?

I would bring it back to the store. Or you contact MS, but i think thats a little bit to long to wait. Try your local dealer.

Does anyone know the UK phone number to contact Xbox support? I can't find it on xbox.com, and no, I do not suck.

Hmm, I don't know how or why, but my Kinect seems to work now! Eh? Oh well, it works, that's the main thing, I don't have to make long phone call to Xbox support (good thing it's an 0800 number if I did have to).

All that error meant was it wasnt pointing downward properly. it hapens sometimes. you just have to tweak it in the settings quickly, or if your daring manually move it down a tad. wouldnt recomend that though you could ruin it.

Did you try turning off the xbox for a moment and letting it reset?

i have found sometimes you need to do that configuration thing a few times due to different light

Thing is though, I've played Kinect in almost total darkness apart from a light from the Kitchen and light from the TV screen before and it's worked fine.

anyone having problems, try unplugging it, and plugging it back in, also less light seems to help for some reason. It has an infra-red camera, but still.

maybe try calibrating it in all difrent light types ,( dark, bright, miday light) if tht makes sence

You can play Kinect without lights because it uses a laser scanner and infrared camera as the primary tool for finding the player location and separating them from the environment. The other camera is used for chat and overlaying pictures for the in game camera features. You should do the calibration and sign in in a few different lighting conditions, though, because it will get better at detecting you.
