Mad Catz has announced an agreement with Epic Games allowing the peripheral company to produce Gears of War 3 (http://www.joystiq.com/game/gears-of-war-3) branded accessories for Xbox 360. Gear of Gears of War, if you will. The accessories, planned for release this holiday season alongside the game (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/01/gears-of-war-3-delayed/), include "specialty controllers, headphones" and other unspecified peripherals.

Unfortunately, the company has yet to release images, so for now you'll just have to imagine, like, a totally manly headset, and an Xbox controller from which Marcus Fenix's face grimaces at you.

Mad Catz and Epic previously partnered on carrying cases and "skinz" (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/01/mad-catz-gets-in-on-the-hot-gears-action/) for Gears of War and Gears of War 2 (http://gearsofwar2.gameshark.com/).

I lost all potential interest when I saw Mad Catz.

Same. Though there was one controller I had by madcatz that I loved. It was for the PS2 and I had it for 2 years. Then I spilled superglue over it and the buttons couldn't move. This is the one I had, except it was bronze coloured.

Other than that:

Xbox 360 steering wheel - Never worked once
Xbox 360 media remote - Worked for about 3 weeks, then died.
Nine xbox 360 controllers - each worked for about 1-2 weeks, luckily I ws able to keep returning them to the store, but I eventually got sick of it and smashed the fucker up.

YES! i had that controller model for my original xbox and i loved it. it was orange and was 20% smaller then regular controllers. it fit my hands perfectly and i gathered some of my best videogame memories using that controller on a small spider-man couch on a crappy 18"inch tube tv.

as for madcatz making gears 3 controllers, unless that are unique and dont attempt to rip off the official 360 controller, I dont plan buy them. I'd definitely buy a gears themed controller if it was a similar model the pic above.

I had mad catz controllers for the original xbox, they were great, felt a lot more tight and responsive as well as a sturdier build than the regular microsoft ones at the time. And yah the size made a difference, they fit my hands just right.

I almost got my hands on one of the old Gears xbox carry cases, but they sold out sooooooo fast, and then I realized, my xbox never leaves the house!

Curious to see what they do here.

semi excited for this though mad katz has a tendency to make things pretty cheaply

Mad Catz aren't the best at controller making.

old news, and it's probably just going to be the exact same controllers they've been making for call of duty, just with gears branding.
