View Full Version : Games That Would Get You To Buy A Kinect

02-12-2011, 07:11 AM
I haven't seen this posted, so I'll be starting this. If it is started somewhere, I apologize now for creating a repeat thread.

So, for those of us who have yet to buy a Kinect, is there anything out there, released, announced, rumored, or even something you just wish would be made, that would get you to care for and buy a Kinect?

For me, it'd be these:

The Gunstringer
Child of Eden
Codename D

I've got everything by Twisted Pixel so far, and I plan on buying whatever they release. Child of Eden just looks fantastic, and being a huge Rez fan, I can't wait to see its' spiritual successor. Finally, I absolutely love anything that Suda 51 works on, and Codename D looks to be no different. He's made some of my favorite games of all time, and I think this will just add to my list of favorites.

well the only Kinect game that is even interesting is Dance Central. I played it at my friends house who has a kinect and it is great fun! A nice break from CoD or Halo and all that. Still not worth $150 of my money though :p

Anything with a more serious/mature tone to it.

Anything with a more serious/mature tone to it.

I seem to recall a thread on here last week about Kinect Porn... Would that be "mature" enough for you?

Not exactly the type of game im looking for. I just don't like the casual games that are on Kinect.

02-13-2011, 08:03 PM
Hmm... as far as a more mature game goes for the Kinect, it looks like the only ones that could even come close are that fighting game they released at its' launch (I care so little, I forget what it's called. XS) and Codename D (though that will likely end up being entirely humorous while taking itself too seriously).

Are there any particular series that you'd want to see take advantage of the Kinect, Gackt?

02-13-2011, 08:09 PM
I'm sure it would suck, but If I could get a PoP-esque platforming game I'd consider it.

02-17-2011, 06:13 AM
Huh... that could be interesting. You might be right, it could totally suck, but still, if implemented well, it'd likely be one of the Kinect's better games.

I really just want to see something, /anything/ out that isn't sports, fitness, or party games. Seems like that's a lot of what it is, and none of those types of games really interest me. It could be that the Kinect just isn't something for me, which is sort of disappointing: I always hope for good opportunities for each console and peripheral, but for me, the Kinect just hasn't brought enough forward to make it truly interesting.

02-17-2011, 06:23 AM
I would love a decent fighting game.

I would love a decent fighting game.

Any particular series (Soulcalibur, DoA, Street Fighter, etc.), or something new altogether?

I'd pick something new; I wouldn't want a series with an established style of play to be turned into something it wasn't really meant to be. *looks at Soulcalibur Legends. v_v*

Any shooting game would be cool.

02-21-2011, 04:43 PM
The Kinect isn't the platform for shooting games. Aiming would be far more difficult based on the way it detects movement and body location. That being said, it's a great platform for many other games, but you won't see a Halo there.

02-24-2011, 06:26 AM
Well, technically speaking, shooting could be anything from an FPS to a third-person shooter to an on-rails shooter. Personally, I think anything third person or on-rails could work. But on FPS games, it would likely be a bad idea.

My girl and I just picked up the Kinect system a couple weeks ago now and we're loving it.. mainly for the fitness aspect. We bought the system "which comes with Adventures" which is pretty cool for the first game made for it, but it only has a few games that you constantly replay for the entire game (which is dull). I bought 'Your Shape' for the kinect and love it. I wouldn't say I'm overweight or out of shape or anything, but the fitness classes and gym games are fun and it's a great workout.. The boxing classes that you can do in the game are crazy for burning calories. But for the sake of having fun, I saw the star wars game coming out around December, looks pretty cool. Being a Jedi is my life goal ha... ha... so using the force and slashing troopers with my saber sounds pretty damn sweet!

They made that fighter uncaged game which got shit reviews, and looks terrible.. but when they master the physics and sensitivity with the kinect, good games will start coming out.

Not gunna lie your post Mikester, makes me want a kinect. My girl and I play 360 all the time and it seems to be a good addition, although I would definitely like to see more mature games too!

child of eden

02-26-2011, 02:41 AM
I don`t mind the games they have now . I personally have Dance Central , Kinectimals & Kinect Adventures . It`s really fun when you`re with a group of people (especially after you`ve had a few drinks HAHA) .

Lol , I also heard that they`re making 'Adult' games for kinect . . . I facepalm .

02-26-2011, 02:45 AM
i think they should make more games like dance central but u can put any song u want on the kinect and dance 2 ur music

03-05-2011, 03:28 PM
fitness games. im getting fat

03-11-2011, 07:04 PM
I think Xbox is going to experience what Wii did. SHOVELWARE. Developers coming up with just about ANYTHING for people to buy.

03-12-2011, 04:29 PM
i know, not in a million years is this likely to happen but.... Zelda

Theres really nothing i've seen for Kinect so far that would make me consider buying it at all. It seems more like a total cash-cow for Microsoft to say "Look we're a family console too blah blah come buy us in your millions like Wii"

Star Wars Kinect. Isn't there supposed to be a Gears of War Kinect too?

"Look we're a family console too blah blah come buy us in your millions like Wii"
Well, uh Microsoft have sold over 10 million Kinect units. And it's been out what...4 months?

03-16-2011, 10:53 PM
Kinectimals( spelling??) for my daughter, nothing else!!

Foxxy kyle
03-18-2011, 12:02 AM
Im perfectly happy and having fun with the plain old Kinect Adventures

03-22-2011, 12:20 AM
I'm having lots of fun playing Yoostar 2 at the moment where you put yourself into and act out famous movie and tv scenes. I think it's a good use of the tech so I'd like to see more original games and ones which better use the Kinect like some of the hacks that have been done.

Otherwise I am looking forward to Codename D and Child of Eden.

Wel i will definitely want to buy the tennis games as well all the times and i think they are the best and even i am the big fan of tennis (http://www.worldcupslive.com/tennis/) games

03-22-2011, 09:58 AM
a good fighting game is the main thing. and a decent sports(individual sport) game couldn't hurt.

though that being said if i had the space in my house i may have already bought it already

03-22-2011, 05:35 PM
a good tennis game and fighting game, whether its boxing or arcadey

03-23-2011, 12:59 AM

I actually really want to play it but I can't justify a 130 purchase of Kinect, then the game just for that. (Then there's the whole space issues for me because my TV is right against a wall.)

For future games, though...
I'm not sure. I would obviously say some WRPGs and some FPS games but I really can't see the mechanics working for that without making you not want to play it.
RTS, actually. I think it would work amazingly well with that. It would be really cool to be able to control your stuff like you're on some futuristic battlefield.

03-23-2011, 04:49 PM
I must admit, the only things that tempt me so far on Kinect are Yoostar 2, for parties, and Star Wars Kinect, because force powers would work so well (I imagine) with it.

Anything else I've played with it in shops really hasn't sold it to me at all.

03-23-2011, 09:10 PM

You have failed me for the last time, Admiral *choke*
This alone might tempt me into getting a kinect, otherwise its gonna take something pretty impressive. Or anything Mass Effect.

None of the stuff out so far, or that has been announced strikes me being worth the price of a kinect. Gunstringer and Children of Eden look pretty cool, but not enough to make me go and buy one.

I would definately go for the fitness ones that teach judo aswell lol

Ultimate Mongol
04-17-2011, 05:55 PM
I know that TLO Zelda is to nintendo but it could e be fun to play it on a kinect system

04-18-2011, 11:30 PM
I'm looking for a super monkey ball remake or port, I think it would be quite fun on the Kinect!

04-19-2011, 09:02 AM
I think that dance central was the game that make me bought kinect in the first place.

jules the great
04-27-2011, 06:39 PM
Kinect Adventures, Dance Central, Michael Jackson Game, and Kinectimals are all the games we have or need.
But honestly id have purchased it just because its cool. I LOVE the voice command interface and the motion hand sensor. Also ESPN is kinda nice too since i love sports.

04-27-2011, 08:07 PM
I quite like the racing game I've got and hope that forza 4 is compatable. But a little more sensitive.

04-28-2011, 07:26 AM
RTS, actually. I think it would work amazingly well with that. It would be really cool to be able to control your stuff like you're on some futuristic battlefield.
Yes! Completely agree with this. I would also go for a survival horror such that you must survive a kill-house or something (a building that the architect designed to kill everyone but the architect).

I was also wondering a while back, that if they made a game where you clean your room / other things, would people who hate cleaning their room end up playing it simply because it's a game or for the achievements? Would be an interesting social experiment at least to have a Kinect game like that.

Even so, I'm thinking of getting a Kinect anyway when I have the extra cash. Been playing Kinect Sports at my friend's house, and although I almost 100%, I think it's unfair to the other people in my household that they can't compete for achievements / scores with me.

05-02-2011, 06:14 PM
i would like a mortal kombat style game.where it actually shows you from the side in a 2d image.

05-04-2011, 05:39 PM
UFC Trainer

I'm hoping they also make a Fight Night and/ or a UFC for the kinect.

05-12-2011, 01:11 PM
Star Wars Kinect....thats the one I am looking forward to.

05-12-2011, 03:01 PM
star wars
elder scrolls
mortal kombat

05-12-2011, 08:29 PM
As of right now, there's nothing that's making me want a Kinect.

05-16-2011, 12:53 AM
I'm having fun with Kinect Adventures atm. :)

Never Final
05-16-2011, 01:43 AM
Honestly I dont think any game could get me to buy one for $150. Ive played most of the titles out for it and none of them really catch my interest. Id buy one if its ever $50 but with the tech inside it I doubt Ill find one that cheap for a long while.

05-16-2011, 06:08 PM
i think i wont ever by kinect at all, i like games with the old controler just sitting down and playing relax. in stead of jumping, moving, and swinging my arms around to do something.

05-16-2011, 11:30 PM
Nothing, I like my controller, I don't want to be a controller myself. If I was going to get any motion sensor thing it would be PS Move, and literally only for Killzone 3.

10-24-2011, 01:41 AM
star wars light sabre game would be cool :uzi:
