View Full Version : For those that have the game, one simple question:

Is Auto-Attack in the game? I've heard both sides, and the developers have said that it's under the Options menu in the game.

I don't want this to turn into an argument about which way is better to play the game (I intend on both ways, depending on my class), I just want to know if it's there.

Thanks in advance.

its not auto attack, and the developers lied about you being able to play in both styles, ive checked all of the options twice and none allow or even hint at different attack modes. So its more presses of the A button .

heres the options:

Gameplay:
Difficulty setting ( casual/normal etc...)
Radial menu behaviour (toggle on/off)
Show plot help icons
Enable persistent gore
Save automatically
Show shimmer around objects with loot.

Interface:
Show damage numbers
Show status effect
Show combat details
Show tutorials
Show ground rings
Hide helmet
Always show main interace (HUD)

Controls:
Y axis sensitivity
Invert Y axis
X axis sensitivity
Invert X axis

Audio:
Sound effects volume
Music Volume
Dialogue volume
Subtitles setting ( conversation only/always on)

Video:
Brightness setting

Account:
Upload gameplay feedback
Upload character profile
Always log me in
Linked to EA account ( your email will appear here)
Gamertag (yours will appear here)
Customer support information (view)
Storage device (change)

Nowhere is there a feature to turn auto attack on/off.

Thanks for the answers. A BioWare dev actually just confirmed it wasn't in the game a few minutes ago, and gave an explanation:

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6395493/2#6396546

What doesn't fly with me is the fact that the game has been Gold for 24 days, and a patch isn't ready.

lol, I love some of the posts on that thread.

Honestly, while I think Auto Attack will be great and all, its not a reason for people to get their knickers in a twist. The game will be great without it. If it comes later via a patch(the only way I can see it happeneing at this point), cool, I'll probably use it. If not, I'm still going to be playing the game at midnight tonight once I pick up my copy.

Bioware really needs to patch that feature in. It will make it too difficult to play on nightmare mode when you're having to worry about tapping the A button to attack while keeping an eye on the rest of your party. It also takes away from the strategic nature of the combat. This is a big dropped ball IMO, and I dont appreciate being lied to about it. Im still going to buy the game, but the lack of auto-attack makes NO [FRIDAY] SENSE BIOWARE!!!

No auto-attack mode spamming buttons 2-3 times a second for period of hours = Arthritis. So please try to get it fixed as soon as possible. :3

I'm more worried about the fact if there was mastering issues which is the creating of the main disc for which all other copies are made from, is this the only issue thats happened with it because if there was more then it could basically be game breaking given if more things were ommited.

Reminds me of the very recent mastering issue regarding DA:O Ultimate Edition for PS3 Euro version where they put the wrong DLC under wrong name on the disc.

It takes all kinds, I guess.

Love some of the posts on the bioware forums :P

If you're a rogue, you press it a lot. Not as much with mages, definitely a lot less with 2H warriors.

Since I'm going to be a rogue, I forsee arthritis in my future. :(

Aha, im planning going mage first, started a play through with a mage on DA:O and i just love how their story has the chance to be much better than the rest imo, like being and apostate and such. Probably going warrior templar next, just to annoy bethany x)
Im sure my fingers will hate my after my 3 play throughs in a row anyway though :P

Yes, because you clearly have intimate knowledge of BioWare's development cycle and the certification process...

Seriously folks, it is Tuesday, the day the game hits the streets. Lets all just take a chill.

Meh, hiccups are inevitable. Manufacture oops, they happen. So long as the game doesn't ship broken and unplayable.

My copy is going to be waiting in my mail when I get home....regardless of button mashing :abut: I honestly don't care either way and will enjoy the game though the non-mashing route will be a nice touch.

Final Fantasy XIII prepped me well for mashing that there button yup.

Sorry, but going by Origins and Awakening and now this, I have to wonder whether they have any QA or Bug testing going on at all.

I doubt it'll change. A tweak in game mechanics like that would probably take quite a bit of work. I don't mind it personally, although I feel bad for those that do. I really do like the more interactive battle system myself, but it is a departure from Origins.

Spamming the A button was one of the things that annoyed me about the demo. They added a lot of cool features to the Rogue and I definitely want to play that class, but without having to wear my thumb out. I am excited for this game. I guess I'll wait on purchasing though until I see a patch coming out.

So you're not going to get a game because it requires you to use the controller? Huh. Interesting choice...

Its not that. I just enjoyed DA the way it was. Nothing wrong with waiting, IMO.
