Introduction

The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile is a fantastic arcade game; you can really tell this game has had a heap of love poured into it. You'll find this little gem is also full of lots of gaming culture references. This coupled with great gameplay, unique storyline which carries on from the first game and multitude of game modes and difficulty makes for one of the best arcade releases in years. This is a must buy if you consider yourself a gamer.

Playthrough 1

Play on the lowest difficulty setting to begin with as Samurai is locked until you beat the game at least once. Take note that although Co-op is possible at this point, some beads and most notably the Bleep bloop! achievement are not possible to attain in Co-op. You will have the choice two characters after you beat the prologue. It is advised you pick The Dishwasher as it will allow you unlock Bleep bloop! achievement and will save you a boss fight on the Samurai Difficulty.

Pay attention to the I Did Not Use A FAQ achievement, it requires you to find collectibles. I have included a text guide to the location of all 30 Ghost Beads. It will help to get the collectibles on the first playthrough as they carry over to Samurai and effect various attributes of your character.

You'll need to pay attention to the Bleep bloop! achievement as well. A very unique set of tasks are involved. The majority of the other achievements will come through natural progression

Playthrough 2

You should have unlocked the Samurai difficulty by now and should have all of the Ghost Beads. This playthrough is all about the Samurai difficulty. Enemies will have more health and do more damage but if you have a handle on the mechanics of the game you shouldn't find this too hard. This cannot be done in Co-op.

Playthrough 3

This will be the playthrough for the arcade mode. Arcade isn’t that challenging but will take some time. There are 50 levels in Arcade. Remember to keep trying new strategies. You can do this in Co-op.

This step will also be clean up time if there any achievements you may have missed.

Conclusion

Although at first this game can be quite challenging once you get to know the characters move set and the mechanics involved, coupled with this guide it is very possible unlock the full 200 gamerscore in under 10 hours gameplay.

Beat the game on Samurai difficulty as The Dishwasher or Yuki.

To unlock Samurai Difficulty you need to beat the game on any other difficulty at least once. You will then need to beat the game as either The Dishwasher or Yuki on Samurai difficulty. There are 13 levels to go through, and there are a lot of bosses in the last 5. This is not as difficult as the first game, but still do not underestimate it.

It is currently NOT possible to play the game on Samurai or Pretty Princess on Co-op, local or online.

Here are some tips for playing on Samurai;

Choosing who you play as is important. On one hand Yuki's combos are more built for taking out bosses quickly and on another The Dishwasher is built for dealing with the masses. That doesn't mean that can't do both how ever.

Remember that upgrades purchased on a lower difficulty do stay when you start Samurai so it is advisable to upgrade your characters weapon/skull/health.
Warping is a THE best way of dodging, the only time you should stop warping is to walk through doorways.
It is recommended you have all the beads before starting, this will make a huge difference. Having the beads set up to maximize your health regeneration is the preferred set up. There are three beads which boost this; The Flower Bead(Slow health regeneration whilst in combat), The Heart Bead(Enemies drop more hearts) and The Bat Bead(With every hit you steal health from enemies). The fourth slot is up to you but The Eye Bead(Less chance the enemy will block against your attack) goes nicely with this set up.

If you've stunned or weakened an enemy to near death and the finishing move pops up, take advantage of it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1368/+TCGJw==.jpg (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1368/+TCGJw==.jpg) Twitch Game Master Extreme Ultra - 30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif
Beat all Arcade levels.

The Arcade levels are an assortment of challenge levels. You are given a preset load out of weapons and magic. There are 50 levels comprised of;

Bosses
Time limits
Air-combo only
Vampire levels (Slow health drain, kill for health.)
Slo-mo (More combo = More Slow-mo)
Instakill (Enemies take large amounts of damage, but so do you. Guns work best.)
Hot Potato (Hold the same weapon for too long and you are forced to swap.)
And a few levels with special requirements.

You play as either Yuki or The Dishwasher, it varies level to level. There isn't one singular method to beating all 50 levels, it is recommended that you experiment with each level. The last 4 levels are probably going to give you the most trouble, keep at it there is a lot of luck involved some times. Co-op IS possible.

Get all achievables. Open presents, jump jump, squirtgun fight, kill squid, watch credits.

To unlock this achievement you first of all need to obtain the Achievable Bead. The bead is found on the level ‘Aqua Marina’. In the first room you run into enemies in, grab an enemy by pressing the :bbut: button and then knock him higher by pressing :xbut: and Down. A cat will suddenly pop onto the screen, as fast as possible hit the :start: button and you’ll be transported to a room with 3 bosses. Defeat the bosses and a present with the bead inside will appear. Equip the bead to start earning achievables. You will need to be playing as The Dishwasher to unlock this achievement.

The achievables are as follows;

Open any one present.
Double Jump by pressing :abut:,:abut:.
Spray any enemy with The Dishwasher's Dekkentozter by pressing the :ybut: button.
Defeat the squid boss on the level ‘Aqua Marina’.
Watch the credits at the end of game, these will roll after you beat the final boss for good.

Included is a video detailing exactly what to do;

Unlock Pretty Princess Difficulty.

This difficulty is unlocked when you die on the same spot four times in a row. Simply put the game on Samurai difficulty and stand still in an area full of enemies, wait until you are dead. Rinse and repeat. Pretty Princess is incredibly easy, enemies die in a few hits and you’ll take barely any damage.

Violently separate 100 enemies.

A violent separation is when you perform a finishing move on an enemy. Depending what weapon you have equipped the :xbut:, :ybut: or :bbut: button will pop up on the screen when an enemy is near death or stunned. Kill an enemy this way 100 times to unlock the achievement.

Collect all Ghost Beads.

Throughout the story there are hidden beads which you can find. There is a total of 30 beads to find. They are found in presents hidden in rooms or in presents found after beating a guitar solo. The beads offer perks to a multitude of things and are quite useful. To equip one hit the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/back.png button and sort through your inventory by using the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/rs.png. You’ll find a menu of all the beads you’ve found, press http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/a.png on a bead to equip it. Once you pick up a bead you’ll have it through all difficulties.

Win 3 chainsaw duels.

This very easy but can still be missed. To unlock this you need to be playing as Yuki. The enemy which has a pumpkin on its head and a chainsaw for an arm is the only enemy you can do this on. Stun him or beat him to near death and the finisher moves will pop up. Press the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/y.png button and you’ll go into a button mash sequence, win the duel and repeat twice more.

Great job on the guide!

I've seen some confusion by people around the web for some of them and it may be worth nothing that you cannot unlock They Totally Chopped My Arm Off and The Disease is Dead by playing co-op (at least online co-op). I also was unable to trigger the event to get a friend the Achievables Bead in online co-op after a few tries, but all other achievements and beads except for the Bell Bead are obtainable in online co-op (and I assume local).

Any suggestion on which character to use for the Samurai difficulty? Dishwasher dishes out tons more damage (pun intended) but Yuki is exceptionally faster, and always has the arial dodge. I'm going to max both out before attempting because I'm a paranoid coward, I was just curious as to who people used.
(It'll probably be Yuki for me with the Painkiller, honestly, but we'll have to see).

Thanks yet again, you've been a massive help. I'll be sure to implement these into the guide later tonight when I update it.

Well I'm currently using Yuki but I'd rather be using The Dishwasher. So far I've had no trouble what-so-ever. I have died a bit but that's to be expected. They can both dodge exceptionally well and the thing that tips the scales for me is The Dishwashers cleavers, that combo is just fantastic.

Great guide so far, keep it up!

I should have already asked you (sorry!), but do you mind if I repost the bead section of your guide to another site? I did put it up in the forums to help others out finding the beads, and prefaced it by saying I wasn't the creator of the list... I mentioned you, this site, and Laorik and Todd Schlickbernd as your sources. I posted it before thinking to ask your permission, and I will gladly delete it if you want... I figured as long as I credited you, it wasn't a problem.

I would suggest Yuki because conviction's chainsaw combos are killer, especially her XY combo against most bosses. That being said the Dishwasher's shift blade XXXY combo is quite powerful and I have seen some impressive boss killing with the violence hammer. All in all i think it is largely a play style choice, I personally like the faster Yuki over the slower more powerful Dishwasher.

It's no problem as long as you credit the right people. This list took hours to construct into a coherent and logical manner. And I'm still not happy with a few of the descriptions, I'd only consider the guide about 60% done. Major overhaul coming once I get some sleep.

Yes, it isn't difficulty related. The difficulties on this are treated as different playthroughs. Though your character still progresses throughout them all.

The pig bead, when equipped, increases the potency of food i.e. Moonbread heals you about 1.5x more with it on than without.

The brain bead is a funny one. I noticed someone asked James Silva on twitter what it does. He replied "Makes your head slightly bigger." Which it in fact does.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I think that the bone bead is glitched for me. I deleted my old save files on my dashboard and started fresh. I have collected all the beads up until the Bone Bead. I have completed the amp for the Bone Bead and nothing happens. Is it possible the gift appears somewhere else? If not then it is glitched and I have 190/200...not happy.

If nothing is working the only possible solution is to delete every spec of the game from your hard drive and try again. I had to do that once, had to redownload the game before it would work properly, other than that man there is nothing I can say.

Just helped someone on another forum with this, and (hopefully) it is the same thing with you... the bone bead present does not appear exactly where the amp is. Look around the rest of the room after you play it. I think it is a level down from the amp.

Quick question, do you guys believe it's necessary for me to include a video guide for the beads? The text guide is fairly comprehensive and the video would end up being well over 20 minutes long and require lots of work to make it perfect. There seems to be a lot of people getting the achievement done just fine. I do have the raw footage of the beads ready to go it's just that the video would be a huge undertaking. I'd need to put text explaining each location before each bead and it would mean having to go through nearly 4 hours of footage. The achievables video just took me about 3ish hours from start to finish thats only 4 minutes long :/

Personally I don't think it is needed. Having them grouped by level and written up as you do is very easy to follow, IMO.

Thanks for your input:) I'll keep the footage sitting there in case there is an overwhelming backlash wanting a video guide. But for now the text walkthrough is all I'll do. Which means after I add this achievable video the guide is pretty much complete:D

That is unless someone can point out some flaws for me to rectify.

Does anyone think some of the descriptions are a bit weak or need a bit more clarifying?

Or do you think maybe an achievement could use a video guide? I'd be more than willing to get right on it.

Here's something that would be worth finding out: Can you get achievements in co-op?
I'd imagine Arcade mode is substantially easier in Co-op (seeing as the other player revives over time, the other can keep warping around to stay alive). I'm stuck on one of the last three levels and pissed, so...:P
I also wonder if you beat the story on co-op if it counts that too. Hmm...

I've seen a lot of people complaining that certain achievements won't unlock in co-op, that's why I put a note that's it advisable to complete the achievements solo.

I can't exactly test it myself as I've already unlocked the majority of the achievements, if someone could research it I'd be glad to include it in the guide.

The guide is great. Thanks for your effort.
I unlocked the "I did not use a FAQ for this" achievement yesterday together with a friend yesterday. He was hosting and he already had all the beads. I collected the 3d bead, the money bead the rocket bead and the squid bead. It didn't unlock right after picking up one of the beads instead just midway through a level. I think it was the second one.
Maybe someone wants to try it out...

There are two small things that I would like to mention about the bleep bloop achievement description and forgive me for nitpicking. You don't specifically have to use B to down X, launching an ememy twice (or probably just launching an enemy already in the air) will cause the cat picture to appear. Also down and X launches an enemy not slams them down. Great guide though and impressively fast completion.

Ah, nicely done I'll add this into the bead guide. Poor guy that'd suck having to redo the beads:s Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

On another note the achievable video is rendering:D

You helped me all you could I appreciate it. Same for the other fellow too. I will look or the bead on the other levels and if that does not work, I will re-download it. Thanks again.

Better to give someone a method that guarantees a result than bombard them with several different methods which could possibly work.

Amended the downstrike part.

The guide is looking great, and I have a suggestion to make. In my opinion the guide would look better without the long bead list. You could hide it in spoiler tags or add a link to a topic that has them. That's just my opinion bUt IMO it would look cleaner without that the list visible....

Great suggestion, I think I might make a new thread with the guide inside it.

EDIT: Thanks for that tip, shortened the guide by 2 two posts.

Awesome guide. It'd be really helpful to actually detail that bead combination that you mention in the tips for samurai difficulty.

Will do, taking some time off tweaking the guide and monitoring the thread and doing my own samurai campaign at the moment.

EDIT: I know I said this was close to be complete now, but now it really is almost done. There is not a lot left to improve in my eyes. If anyone has some nit picking to do please to do so.

I've seen a lot of people complaining that certain achievements won't unlock in co-op, that's why I put a note that's it advisable to complete the achievements solo.

I can't exactly test it myself as I've already unlocked the majority of the achievements, if someone could research it I'd be glad to include it in the guide.

Hey, fyi, just wanted to let you know that my brother and I unlocked the Arcade achievement over local co-op, so that one at least is possible.. I'm not sure about other story ones, though.

How can i upgrade the shotgun? Do i have to upgrade MP/Roboarm because there is no extra shotgun-entry?

The shotgun does a lot of damage, i use it everytime a enemy hangs in air or doesnt block otherwise. Great for finishing the XXXY Combo.

I'll post my bead and weapon set-up for Samurai difficulty later today.

Everything seems to be working well for me atm.

As who? I know Yuki's shotgun is upgradable. Not sure about DW.

This guide is looking awesome! Imo it doesn't need a video for beads because they were easy to find with such good description ;)
Just to point that some people might like if you have videos for hardest/last levels of arcade but I really prefer the guide the way it is.

Great job!

Great job!

I've been trying to avoid putting in videos of boss battles/last levels simply because a lot of the time in arcade it was really a whole lot of luck on my behalf. The last arcade level took me like 40 mins. As for the last level of campaign, it's quite simple.

I'll wait until around the end of the week when I've had some more input but I consider this guide complete now.

Thanks again for your guide Reaper. I just finished arcade mode after beating Samurai today.
In comparison this game is much easier than the first one but still lots of fun.

Hahahah
Do you have to equip that bead to get those requirements for bleep bloop?

I believe in you about the double jump btw, i know you can do it, it's a mix of skill, timing, luck and hope but you can still do it!!

Being serious, no idea how to help you, it's the first time i read about something glitched with double jump :/

@ The Reaper0 : Thanks for the very solid guide, it has been very helpful ;)

Well I'll be no longer updating this guide. I've submitted it for approval. It seems a lot of the tips I'm getting now are semantics (no offense to anyone:p). I honestly believe someone who has not played the game can look at this guide and perfectly 200 this game in 10 hours or less.

How I am supposed to do this part playing as Yuki?
"Spray any enemy with The Dishwasher's Dekkentozter by pressing the Y button."

Didn't see anything related in the video neither on your guide.

You answered your own question.
It obviously must be done as The Dishwasher. Updated the guide to reflect your problem. Though you are the only person to have trouble with this.

I'm following your suggestions, mate. Look at Step 1. You suggest us to play as Yuki on the first playthrough and says that Bleeb Bloop is one of the obtainable achievements that way. Isn't there a contradiction? Or can I change characters between levels and still get it?
You should put the advice there as well.
