Introduction

Right away you need to know to play all your games on Versus or Hard to get Tough as Nails achievement. Just play all campaign missions this way to assure your 1000 comes without worry of multiple play-throughs. There is no way to check what levels you have played on what difficulty, or if you beat them on Versus or not. So to be safe, just play on Versus when doing campaign. If just going for XP, you can play with Easy bots in freeplay. Also, do not do the three star challenges until you have gotten every other achievement. Do the other ones to gain the unlockables and for free starter XP. Case in point, do the 1 and 2 star challenges before playing. As you level, the bots get harder for the mentioned challenges. You can create up to 10 characters, so just create a new one after you finish the game to grab the challenge oriented achievements.

Achievements can be earned in private matches or freeplay as well but not during challenges. Considering this, boosting certain things are possible. Go HERE (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=152177) to find boosting partners.

Step 1: Campaign on Versus Mode (or Solo Hard)

Before playing do all of the challenges from the main menu that give unlockables. That would be all 1 and 2 star challenges. Afterwards start Versus mode. It is important you play on Versus mode from the start of the campaign if you want the easiest time. This gives you more XP, ensures you unlock the needed Audio Logs, and potentially will make your campaign run faster. If you join in the middle of a match and win, for example, you'll still get credit but have only played half of it. You will unlock many achievements playing normally as the various classes. An extremely good class to play disregarding achievements is the Engineer. They can build turrets and place mines near Objective points to make it difficult for the opposing team. The turrets can earn you XP, boosting team mate gun damage, completing repair based objectives, etc. They seem to have the most things to do and can upgrade Command Posts. They are very defensive (repairing, removing hack boxes, and disarming HE charges). Many missions require you to defend until time runs out. This class makes that happen a lot easier.

Favorite Weapon: Kross SMG (Muzzle Brake, Front Grip, Yeotek Red Dot, SMG Drum Magazine). Some people complain there is too much recoil in this game. Using this weapon you will experience almost no recoil at all.

Step 2: Misc. Achievements and Rank 5

If you haven't been focusing much on achievements while playing campaign missions, go ahead and finish them off here while trying to earn 300,000 XP to reach rank 5 (level 20). Always play online modes even if private to get the extra 20%. This will make leveling much faster.

Step 3: Challenges

Create a new character to play the three star challenges with. Playing as a level 20 will be extremely frustrating because of the AI on your team not helping. Since it is a new character you will have to play all of the 1 and 2 star challenges over again, but it's worth it doing it all in this order. Once you ave completed them, you will have completed the game.

Conclusion

The game's achievements overall are straightforward and easy. There can be some frustration with the game because of bot AI and also lag when playing online. There is nothing else to really do after gaining all achievements except wait for DLC which will most likely raise thel level cap. Because of the nature of this type of game, updates are also to be expected.

If you're looking for a guide that seperates achievements based on story, class, etc, then feel free to head over to this guide HERE (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=309681) made by Xx Overkill VR

While on defense, take down an attacker who's completing a Primary Objective

You will get this easily while playing through the game. Just kill anyone that is trying to do one of the primary objectives. This includes all types: hacking, planting charges, repairing, etc.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1095/5-yN9nk=.jpg (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/brink/achievement/52806-Not-over-till-the-fat-lady-sings.html)Not over till the fat lady sings (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/brink/achievement/52806-Not-over-till-the-fat-lady-sings.html) 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Take down an enemy with gunfire while knocked down

Sometimes you will get knocked down but actually still be alive. Before you get up, kill an enemy. You get knocked down by melee attacks (not knife), explosives/grenades, or even by someone jumping down and landing on you (usually accidently).

Note: There is an ability called "Downed Fire" which lets you shoot while incapacitated. You must be Rank 5 to unlock it, but this ability is not required for the achievement, even though the achievement picture is the same as the ability picture.

Close an enemy team's shortcut

A really easy level to get this is on the Resistance mission What-If: Operation Babel. As an engineer, do either of the secondary objectives "Construct Main Barricade" and "Construct Side Barricade". If you keep dying, set up a private freeplay game with no bots on the map "Shipyard". You can now create it without trouble. If you start as resistance, change teams via in game :start: menu.

Capture an enemy Command Post

During any form of play, press :dup: and open the Objective Wheel. Choose the objective to take over an enemy's Command Post. You can also find them by chance. They must be controlled by the enemy for the achievement to unlock.

Note: You cannot go to the spawn point and capture their main Command Post.

Reveal an enemy in disguise

Required Class: Operative (or any other if you shoot them out of disguise)
Required Ability: Homing Beacon
Ability Unlocked: Rank 2

To get this achievement, the opposing team must have Operatives that are actively disguising themselves. You must then focus your aim on them (holding :ltbut:) and reveal them. The game will not do it automatically. If you find another person with your gamertag, then you know they are a fake. If you see someone not shooting the opposing team, or doing any objectives, you can also figure they may be a fake. Is the other team ignoring them completely and shooting you? Suspicious team mates hanging around enemies without being attacked? You come into a zone plagued with enemies and one of your team mates, camping together. That is who you will want to focus your aimer on.

Note: You can also pick any class and just shoot them out of disguise. This achievement may unlock without you even being aware you were doing it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1095/5-sOFDU=.jpg (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/brink/achievement/52810-You-shall-not-pass-.html)You shall not pass! While on defense, prevent the attackers from completing their first objective

This should come naturally and is easier on some levels. But an even easier way is to start up a private match with a defend based objective and let the timer run out. Remember, no bots. You can change sides if you're not on the defense side as well.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1095/5-kvHYA=.jpg (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/brink/achievement/52811-Was-it-the-red-or-the-blue-wire-.html)Was it the red or the blue wire? Disarm an HE charge

Required Class: Engineer
Required Ability: Standard Engineer Kit
Ability Unlocked: Rank 1 (automatically unlocked)

There will be missions where the opposing team has a main objective to destroy something. There are a few secondary ones as well. Once a soldier on another team plants a charge, you must disarm it by holding :xbut: on it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1095/5-9MB18=.jpg (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/brink/achievement/52812-Great-shot-kid--One-in-a-million.html)Great shot kid! Take down an enemy by shooting a grenade

Required Class: Any
Required Ability: Grenade Shooting (Universal ability)
Ability Unlocked: Rank 1

Throw a grenade by pressing :rbbut:. Now shoot at it while it's near an enemy (in the air, or on the ground). With a little luck you should be able to pull this off.

While on offense, win the match in less than 30% of the time limit

This achievement can be pretty tough. To make it one of the easiest achievements in the game, start up freeplay with no bots. An easy one to do is Aquarium. Plant the charge, then escort the VIP. Of course there could be easier/faster methods. This is just an example.

Win both story campaigns (not including What-If missions)

Complete every mission in both campaigns (Security and Resistance). Remember it's best to do this all in Versus so you can get all of the Audio Logs.

Win every Resistance campaign mission, including What-If missions

This requires you to complete each of the missions on the bottom set of missions (Resistance). You can do this in any mode while in campaign (solo, versus, etc). To see what missions you have completed, look to the right and you'll see a circle. If it is complete, it will be filled in.

Day 1: Getting Answers
Day 2: Breakout
Day 3: Chen's Plans
Day 6: Black Box
Day 7: Attack on CCity
Day 8: Airborne
What-If: Operation Babel
What-If: Critical Reaction

Complete an objective after first selecting it on the Objective Wheel

First pull up your objective wheel with :dup: and use :rs: to navigate around. Choose any of the objectives to make it your priority. It will be highlighted. Now just complete it.

Open a shortcut for your team

There are a few levels this can be done. In Security campaign, the level Day 4: Dirty Bomb has a secondary objective "Construct Side Stairs". You will need to be an Engineer to complete this objective. On the Resistance mission What-If: Critical Reaction, as an engineer do the secondary objective "Repair the Bridge Access Panel". You can find these on your Objective Wheel to make them easier to find.

Day 3: Smash and Grab
Day 4: Dirty Bomb
Day 5: Prison Break

Day 8: Fallout
What-If: Chopper Down
What-If: Grand Theft Aero

Win all storyline campaign missions (exc. What-If missions) in either Online Versus, or in Hard mode

You will have the most luck doing this in Versus. Since you have to do Versus to get all audio logs anyways, then it's automatically what you must play. Only those who do not have online access might think to play on Hard mode. If you join a match that has 5 seconds left and your team wins, then that counts as a win even though you didn't start the match or do anything in it. If you seem to have horrible luck with this game, it might be best to quit out and try your luck getting into matches that are near over.

Required Class: Soldier
Required Ability: Standard Soldier Kit
Ability Unlocked: Rank 1 (automatic from start)

Just keep giving your team your ammo by holding :xbut: when close to them and the game indicates that you can. Before your last reload of ammo, shoot a few but instead of reloading, give that pack away so that the bottom number on your ammo is 0 and your top is less than whatever full is.

Reach Rank 5

Rank 5 requires you to be a level 20. You will get most of your levels by playing through the campaign in Versus. Depending on how much you win, how well you do personally, and even what mission you play will result in how much XP you get. If you complete the match you get an additional 15%, and if you play online you get an extra 20%. This is another reason it's good to always play Versus. Even if you are doing solo missions, make sure you at least just set it to a private match to get that extra 20%.

Rank 1: 0 XP (level 0)
Rank 2: 15,250 XP (level 5)
Rank 3: 60,750 XP (level 10)
Rank 4: 148,000 XP (level 15)
Rank 5: 300,000 XP (level 20)

Complete all 3 Star Challenges

There are a total of 4 challenges to complete. You must do the first and second Star Challenges in order to unlock the 3rd for each. They hardly change and add a little bit more difficulty. Straight from Splash Damage out of the strategy guide, they state the higher you rank up the harder they become. So it's best to do the first couple for each challenge to get all unlockables, then play the campaign. Once done with campaign, create a brand new level 0 character to do the challenges with. After completing the 1st/2nd Star Challenges prior, and by learning lots of the game from playing so much and hitting rank 5, you should not have too much trouble completing them now.

Be More Objective: Here you must do objectives with the various classes. Your AI team will not help hardly at all. This is the most frustrating of the challenges. You will get shot randomly and get taken down quickly. Make sure you use the high ground often. Do this challenge first.

Parkour This: This is the easiest of the challenges. There are no enemies. Be sure to do this one last so you don't gain experience from it (so you don't gain a level).

Escort Duty: This mission can be a little bit tough but it's more about the time. If you keep killing enemies and moving on you will do fine.

Tower Defense: The way it works is there are 3 rounds with various amounts of enemies in each wave. You must kill them and protect the Command Post. Place a mine near the objective but not directly in front of it. An enemy has to step off of for it to detonate. If you die, it will be your safeguard. Also remember you can self buff your weapon damage and refill ammo by accessing the Command Post every time you need it.

Click below and you will find videos and more in-depth discussion on the challenges.

Collect all Audio Logs

There are a total of 74 Audio Logs. To gain all audio logs you must complete levels in campaign. It does not matter if you have all bots or a mixture of humans and bots. If you join a match already in progress, you will still unlock the audio logs. Therefore, if you have trouble with this game you may want to keep joining random matches and hope you land in one that is almost over and your team is winning. Keep playing until you get them all. They seem to be random when they unlock, but playing Versus (every level) seems to work well. It's a possibility they unlock also with certain secondary objectives being complete, so make sure you focus on those at times just in case. If not boosting for getting to level 20, you should get this before you hit that rank.

You can get audio logs in solo mode, but either way, you will likely want to play versus to collect the rest and get the Tough as Nails achievement easier.

To look a list and more detailed guide on the Audio Logs, please visit the guide thread below:

Audio Log Guide by A. Gamer (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=311915)

Note: You may play solo levels by yourself, without any bots and still unlock Audio Logs. If missing some logs, go ahead and try each level by yourself doing all objectives.

While a Medic, you will have no real objectives to complete like the other classes do. While at an objective, there are times when multiple people will get downed near it. If you revive the class which is tied to that specific objective, but they are both near it, then you will unlock the achievement. You can find these team mates by pulling up your objective wheel and seeing a team member's name.

Note: Like the description mentions. this must be a primary objective which are always gold on your objective dial. They are also listed before you start the missions.

Revive yourself

Required Class: Any
Required Ability: n/a
Ability Unlocked: n/a

When you get downed, wait around for a medic. Keep the box associated highlighted so that you do not respawn. Once a medic throws you a shot, hold :ls: to revive yourself.

Note: There is a medic ability where you literally can revive yourself without another medic needed. This is not what the achievement requires.

Take down an enemy with a mine

Required Class: Engineer
Required Ability: Mine
Ability Unlocked: Rank 1 (automatically unlocked)

The mine is an ability you get from the start. To place one, hit :dleft: and place the mine somewhere you know enemies will be running by. The mine will not detonate until they actually step off of it. Therefore, you will want to place it near an objective but not right in front. Otherwise they can still get the objective done first and even possibly be killed by someone else.

Required Class: Operative
Required Ability: Cortex Bomb
Ability Unlocked: Rank 4

With this ability, upon being downed, you will be able to detonate yourself and kill anyone standing nearby. To detonate, just hold down :ls:. Many times you will get downed while in close quarters, so you'll want to detonate right away. Spot a mine which is later defused by another Engineer

Required Class: Operative
Required Ability: Standard Operative Kit
Ability Unlocked: Rank 1 (automatic from start)

In order to get this you must find a mine layed down by the opposite team. They are highlighted red for this class only. Look at the mine and aim at it. A bar will fill up and it will now be highlighted for the rest of your time. Now an engineer must come over and defuse it. The achievement can be somewhat tricky as it's rare for them to be defused, even by bots.

Note: You cannot be the Engineer that defuses the bomb you spotted. It must be someone else.

Complete an Operative Primary Objective within 5 seconds of breaking disguise

Required Class: Operative
Required Ability: Standard Operative Kit
Ability Unlocked: Rank 1 (automatic from start)

To go into disguise, go to any dead enemy's body and hold :ls:. The only objective for an operative is to hack. Oddly, hacking breaks disguise and is usually fairly slow. Also, if you die, the other team will likely take off your hack box and cause you to do it all over again. The scenario the game wants was as follows: You died at 95% or so hacking. You spawn, get in disguise, and go back to the objective. You then finish the hacking. This is extremely rare and unlikely, especially against bots. So what you need to do is hack until 95%, disguise yourself with a body nearby (or create one), then finish the hack. Remember the disguise breaks when you start hacking.

Note: As long as you are in disguise when an operative objective is complete (by someone else) you will still get the achievement. You had to have been a part of the hack at some point.

Not so sneaky now, are you? 10
Reveal an enemy in disguise

Required Class: Operative
Required Ability: Homing Beacon
Ability Unlocked: Rank 2

To get this achievement, the opposing team must have Operatives that are actively disguising themselves. You must then focus your aim on them (holding ) and reval them. That is who you will want to focus your aimer on, without firing (yet).

I have obtained this achievement by simply just killing an enemy I knew was disguised. He had my gamertag and my friend saw him go into the disguise so I simply shot the hell out of him and the achievement popped without having to use this ability.

Other than that this looks to be a good guide. I would like to add that you generally have the achievements in random order. Perhaps organizing them by the class necessary to unlock it, Miscellaneous, and then Story related (not really, but kinda fits as a category). But just some extra organization would help.

As it is now thought. Seemingly great guide for a fairly easy 1000 GS.

I have them in this order because it's what the site has them as. I may change it to class specific and spruce things up if more people think it's needed. Thanks for the input, appreciate it!

On the 1 star part. You refer to "king of the world". You have scroll a bit down past other achievements to see this info. Can you not put all the star challange achievements beside each another :). Should make it more user friendly.

Also....

I have 1 audio log to get. Only thing i have not done are the "What if's" in versus. Do you think i need to do them to get the last audio log?

It's the second audio log in AWU General Secretary Joe Chen section.

Any clue?

I was not an Operative at the time. I was a Medic. I am not entirely sure why I the achievement popped up for me, as i assumed you would have to use that ability that you say you need. I haven't played as anything other than a Medic yet, but somehow, someway the achievement popped when it shouldn't have. It could have been a glitch of some kind. I'm not entirely sure.

Yes, you must have missed one in Versus. I didn't have much of a test but here is what I did. I had 4 more audio files to go. I had completed all missions in versus, and had completed the 4 what if missions solo. 2 of them I completed on Hard mode by myself (before I tried Versus). Before I replayed the What Ifs in Versus, I attempted more regular story missions to see if I would unlock auido logs. I got zero. I replayed the 4 what ifs and they each game me one more audio log.

Someone test something, play a regular mission on Versus that you have never completed before. How many audio files do you get? I'm thinking 3.

There is a forumla I think it's somethine like this, but I'm probably wrong because there are a lot more audio files.

Complete mission - 1 audio file
Complete mission Hard mode - 2 audio files
Complete mission in Versus Mode - 3 audio files

What Ifs I think differ, 1 audio file less.

I think audio files are also unlocked behind the scenes during cut scenes. There are 74 audio files and I am sure I did not see that many unlock.

There's one thing that doesn't make sense to me in your guide. The details for Smart Decisions Win Battles. You keep saying in the description to revive the person who IS NOT tied to the objective, yet the achievement description says the exact opposite, and the achievement title implies the opposite... You should be reviving the person who IS tied to the objective. Hence being a smart decision. So in your escort example, you should revive the MEDIC, not the other random class. Unless you get the achievement by doing the exact opposite of the achievement description and it was just programmed like that.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, your method of unlocking all Audio Logs can't possibly be correct. Your method implies that you will have to unlock Tough As Nails by the time you unlock all audio logs. Last night my friend got the achievement for all audio logs, but he still hasn't done the last two Security campaign missions on versus, nor the last 3 Resistance campaign missions.

Great guide, but I just wanted to point out a few things

For the "Great Shot Kid. One in a million" achievements I had to kincapacitate the enemy by shooting the grenade for it to unlock not by just knocking them over.

I know this is still a WIP, but I found a couple of common typos that I figured I would let you know about. :)

Introduction section

"Jus play all campaign missions this way to assure your 1000 comes easy."

Step 1: Campaign on versus mode

"It is imortant you play on Versus mode from the start of the campaign."

"This gives you more XP, ensures you unlock the needed Audio Diaries, and potentally will make your campaign run faster."

You shall not pass!

This sould come naturally and is easier on some levels.

Not so sneaky now are you?

You must then focus your aim on them (holding http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/lt.png) and reval them.

Its a trap!

You can also make it explode when lookng at it and the icon above it indicates you can detonate.

Smart Decisions Win Battles

While a Medic, you will have no real objetives to complete like the other classes do.

Brinkmanship

Note: As long as you are in disguise when an opertive objective is complete

"T'is better to give than receive" achievement

As you run around as a Medic, you will get oppurtunity to refill your team's supplies. An interaction prompt will appear on the team member who needs them or is low. Refill by holdig http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/x.png on them.

I was trying to Buff him but couldn't so I shot him because I said "Screw you AI" and it injured him so I kept shooting and killed him and got the achievement. Luck of the draw on my part =p

Suggestion for your guide, make sure to get ALL of the challenge achievements out of the way before you do anything - the bots get progressively harder as you level, so if you knock these out as a rank 1, they're super easy. I didn't know this, and ended up deciding to do them around rank 15. Couldn't get past 2 star objective (spent 2 hrs trying...), read that they're easier if you do them first. So I started a fresh character, and blew through all 3 stars on all 4 challenges without failing once.

Also, as for the revealing a disguised character, I just happened to see somebody who looked like me (as an engineer). I was like, "wtf? That's gotta be a bot in disguise!" - so I shot him. Didn't kill him, and figured the achievement was glitched. Different game, same thing, except this time I -DID- kill him, and I got it.

For the audio logs, you do not need to play versus. I didn't even try versus until the other day and already had all the audio logs. I played campaign on my own and was getting 1 every match, when I played campaign co-op I was getting 2 every level we finished. So as other people have said, they are somewhat random but not completely. You will get the achievement even if you never play versus.

I'm not sure "That mine you found? Disarmed" can be done alone. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but I tried on my own, no bots. Planted a mine, team swapped and changed to operative. Went to where I planted the landmine, and it was not there. walked over the spot and I was safe.

Attempt to Revive an objective-class teammate over a non-objective teammate near a Primary Objective

Required Class: Medic
Required Ability: Standard Medic Kit
Ability Unlocked: Rank 1 (automatically unlocked)

While a Medic, you will have no real objectives to complete like the other classes do. While at an objective, there are times when multiple people will get downed near it. If you revive the class which is not tied to that specific objective, but they are both near it, then you will unlock the achievement.

About VIP escort missions: While you are escorting certain AI characters who are injured, you may think you can get the achievement easily by healing someone else instead of him while he is down. This is not true. Though, if there is a downed class by a downed medic near the VIP, you can heal that class and get the achievement as the medic is the one with the objective to heal.

Note: Like the description mentions. this must be a primary objective which are always gold on your objective dial. They are also listed before you start the missions.

Smart decision info is correct. Read the description it again it will make more sense.

I still stand by my original statement that your description for Smart Decisions Win Battles is incorrect. Having just got the achievement last night, I know it is incorrect. I highlighted in bold where you specifically say to revive the non-objective class teammate, as opposed to the one specific to the objective. This is not how you get the achievement!

For example, my co-op partner was downed near the mainframe we had to hack. He was a medic. An AI bot got downed near it as well. He was an operative. I revived the operative and got the achievement. He was the one tied to the objective, so I revived him. Your description is saying to do the exact opposite, which is not correct.

I'm not sure "That mine you found? Disarmed" can be done alone. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but I tried on my own, no bots. Planted a mine, team swapped and changed to operative. Went to where I planted the landmine, and it was not there. walked over the spot and I was safe.

It can be done offline, but not alone! Someone else has to defuse your mine. A bot can do it, but I'm sure it's pretty rare, seeing as how garbage the AI is. Your only hope would be to spot an enemy mine on a missions where an Engineer has the primary objective to complete, and hope they defuse the mine you spotted.

I had no luck with this, however. I spotted mines, and the AI would just run right over them, even though I had spotted them, and get killed. Morons.

Just keep winning missions and you'll unlock the rest. After I did every mission in online versus (except the two Security What-ifs) I still needed around 15. I played private games over and over on the same map to get XP and level up to 20, and I unlocked all the Audio logs along the way. Not to mention I was playing the same map over and over.

I never played Versus until after I got the 1k in this game.

Pretty sure its just completing matchs, easy only giving 1 new audio log and hard giving 2 new audio logs. I dont remember for normal, I think it was 2 new audio logs as well.

My last 12 audio logs revolved around me playing the Reactor level as Security and defending for the 10 mins at a time. Each time I finished the match, I got 1 new audio log as I was doing it on Easy. I was fixing my character's skill tree, so I resetted from Level 20 to Level 19 twice.

OK thanks. im playing everything solo with no bots at the moment just in case. but yeah it seems like it's just wins.

edit: got it. for the audio logs, the only thing ive done in the game is play online vs, freeplay solo no bots, then solo freeplay the terminal a few times to rank up. so all you need to do is win matches to get the audio logs

I'm down to just needing Tough as Nails. I have 2 finished in Hard Mode and 2 or 3 finished in Versus. I just hate how every other match I enter online is super laggy.

Now, does it matter if it's a public or private game in Versus? And when you go to Public, it's always versus, right? Since it doesn't give you a choice to change it...

Also, I don't know why you keep saying that you have to get the Audio Logs on Versus, because it's a lot easier to get them in Solo. Seriously, just choose Prison Break, change to Engineer, Plant a mine in front of the conduit, Set a turret up around it, too, and survive for like 7 minutes. That's how I got the last 20, after playing through the campaign twice and screwing around with friends.

Best Solo XP Boosting Method:

Character:
Make sure you are a heavy class, with the Chinzor MG as a primary weapon. Add attachments to suit your personal needs. Buy the Caltrop grenade for the Operative class, if possible, and set Operative as your default class.

Mission:
Start the last Security Mission (Day 8: Fallout), on solo easy. As an operative, make sure you select "Defend Vent System" on your objective wheel, and run to the room where the vents are located. Now you will wait until enemies come to attack these points, and whenever you kill them, disguise yourself for a 125xp bonus. You will also be getting "defending" points for being near the objective. Keep running between the two rooms, and disguising yourself whenever you get the chance. Try to stay away from dying. Also, make sure to throw a caltrop grenade into the doorway of one of the vent rooms, to get points when enemies walk into the room. It will also warn you that they are coming. You should be able to about 1,000 xp every minute, and get a bonus for being successful (15%). At the end, just "retry" the mission if you want to continue boosting.

It has to be Online Versus, if you're asking about the Tough As Nails achievement. You can't do it in a private game.

Also, why would you choose to play defense to get your last audio logs? Defense is boring, takes forever, and hardly gets you any XP. I much much prefer running through Terminal on Security side (offense). You get 3000XP per run and it goes really quick (about 3-4 minutes per run). Put on a light body type so you run faster. I got my last audio logs this way, and it's so much faster than waiting while defending.

It's a quick 7 minutes, and I was already at level 20. I got my last few in games with friends, but to whittle them down to a good number, I just used that one. I did like 4 at a time, then went and did things IRL. lol

I have shot people that were disguised but did not get the achievement a few times. Were you maybe an Operative ? When you focused to shoot maybe it revealed him. Maybe others can comment too and I'll change it.

I have them in this order because it's what the site has them as. I may change it to class specific and spruce things up if more people think it's needed. Thanks for the input, appreciate it!

My thoughts exactly regarding the spotting achievement.

Consider adding some info on the easiest ways to boost xp for rank 5 too, I know quite a few people who have been looking for good ways.

The method I posted (with disguising operative) can be found in a few brink threads, page 2 of this thread (I think), and the highest rated TA solution for reaching rank 5. Like always, you are free to use any of that information. ;) As far as I've seen, it is the best solo (non-idle) boosting method around.

Co-op can be set to easy, normal or hard. And, in order to count towards "Tough as nails" it has to be set to hard.

Versus has no difficulty setting (since you have human opponents).

And, yes, the versus games still count even if there aren't any opponents at your rank (and you specified your rank only when you launched). We got the achievement for a friend purposely de-leveling our secondary slots and keeping the versus AI at rank 1 (i.e. no pesky high level abilities). We didn't have any 'recent players' in our XBL list, and didn't see any opponents that even appeared to be human.

You have to finish both sides on hard (which is a total b*tch) or on versus.

The audio logs are common to all of your characters. Actually, the "Tough as nails" progress is common to all of your chars, too (unlike the story completion acheivements). So, you can simply complete those levels needed with your new slot.

Sadly, the game does NOT show you which dificulty/mode you completed the levels on, so unless you kept track of which were on hard/versus, there isn't a way to determine which ones you need to re-do.

I have just put up an Audio Log Guide -- Complete/Final (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?p=4245522)

Afterwards start Versus mode. It is important you play on Versus mode from the start of the campaign if you want the easiest time. This gives you more XP, ensures you unlock the needed Audio Logs, and potentially will make your campaign run faster.

This isn't true. You can get all the audio logs playing campaign on hard and skipping versus all together. In the long run it would save time and the frustration of dealing with the online lag.

You can get all 74 audio logs in custom 1v0 freeplay.

Not a single one of the audio logs requires a certain rank or level, or playing the campaign, challenges or online.

There are 16 that are mission/level based (for winning each mission/level), there are 16 that are objective based (for satisfying all of the primary objectives on each mission/level), and the remaining 42 are randomly awarded for wins on any level on which you have already won the mission specific or objective specific audio logs, even the same one 42 times in a row, in a custom 1v0 freeplay.

Although, I will agree that playing online (either co-op or versus) is a wise decision, since not only do you get an experience bonus, you are also awarded 2 audio logs per win, effectively cutting your required missions/levels from 72 down to as few as 36. But since it is unlikely that you will be able to shut-out the enemy on all 8 of the defense missions/levels, you will probably have to replay those a couple times (possibly on custom freeplay) to pick up those pesky objective based audio logs.

Tyger7
05-25-2011, 07:03 AM
I really did think Online Versus was far easier to play. You play against bots for the most part and sometimes a few humans, rarely did I see full groups. What happens then is the humans normally side with you.

I hardly got stuck on any of the missions, though maybe 2 made me replay multiple times.

Epic: Saw your PM to me, haven't gotten around to checking things out. Been quite busy.

Maka: I'll link your Challenge thread in the guide, I'm too busy to make my own so thank you for taking the time to.

A.Gamer: Thanks for clearing up the Audio Log stuff. I literally got 5/11 and had it complete by 5/13 (since it passed midnight!). I got the Audio Logs without any issues, seeing as I played Versus after getting bored of playing solo. I guess that is why I have been highly suggesting Versus, because I got all the Audio Logs quite quickly doing it. I hardly ever lost and never bothered to "change sides" if losing. I'll add your link to the guide as well to clear it up for people, nice research.

Nice Guide so far, but you should seperate Step 1 into Challenges and Campaign.
Also you dont need to do the 1 and 2 Star Challenges with one character and then create a new one to do 1-3.

If you do all the challenges with a different character the Weapon Attachements will be unlocked for the first, too. :)

guide is ok. Some descriptions need a little work.

my main complaint is it should be split and organized between stuff you can do easily solo vs stuff that's easy to boost with a partner.

XP boosting for example. An awesome no hastle method is to set up a private match on the terminal level with an operative on the security side and an engineer on the rebel side and to take turns placing and removing hack boxes on the terminal. Once you get the hang of it, the person playing security gets 8000+ while the rebel usually gets 10,000+.

one thing that ought to be changed is saying to save the 3 star challenges for last. I didn't check to see if you had to start them all over again by making a new character, but I'd suggest doing all 3 stars for escort, defense, and objective first and save parkour for last. Parkour doesn't have enemies that get unfairly better as you level up.

That being said, you can also make the challenges with enemies easier if you sell off your characters attributes. You lower your characters level by 1 every time you do that and the CPU is much less aggressive vs. lower level characters.

Just a quick note for anyone just starting the game (like myself): it is not necessary for any other players to be in the game while you are going for Tough As Nails. The Brink community appears to be just a handful of people now and I could rarely find other players to play with online. However, playing and winning every mission set to Versus garnered me the achievement, even though no one else was in my game.

The Game is totally broken if you play solo so saying 4/10 Difficulty while getting 1000g offline is ridiculous, anyone else saying its appropriate is bullshitting themselves. AI is full of Fail and you die by 2 hits even on easy and need to waste a full Mag on an enemy to kill him. I am almost as mad as in World at War on Veteran, but atleast there were Checkpoints, in Brink there is only One Startspot which is also horrible Design Decision. I see how much i can squeeze out of it but 1000g will be impossible for me.
