Gamestop has a release date of 11/01/2012 for this game that's a long ways away :(

Well we knew it was Holiday 2012 so at least now we have an exact release date. Time to start saving!

That's not the official release date, but it does seem like that would be fairly close to the actual release date. My guess is it will be a September launch. That seems to be the new go-to month for Halo because it doesn't compete with the Holiday crowds and it completely bypasses and undermines the CoD crowd. (Of course, this is ignoring Halo. They've got that set in November because it's the Anniversary edition and it obviously needs to be released for the anniversary itself.)

You would think that gamers would actually know what a placeholder date is...

lol they said holiday, so it should be around late November-late december. I'm pretty sure 11/01/12 is not the release date haha

I hope they tell us about the other editions of Halo 4 at Halofest in august. Maybe they will also tell us the real release date (11/01/12 being the placeholder)

Don't really care as I don't much like the Halo franchise or its fans. I'll play by ear and if I hear and see relatively good things about it, I'll buy it. Holiday 2012 is indeed a long time. BUT OH NOEZ, WE ONLY HAVE ONE MONTH TO PLAY BEFORE THE WORLD ENDS! ARMAGEDDON FOR HAWAII! I CAN'T BEAR IT!

thats the 11th of January....?

Seeing as how Halo and 343i are american-based, I'm going to assume they're using the MM/DD/YYYY system, so it would be November 1st, 2012.

That's the polite way of putting it. I'm a bit more blunt when I say most American's are fucking Imbeciles and have to do things their own way becomes the simple concepts of the rest of the world are either too complicated for them to understand or they're too arrogant to accept they're not the best nation in the world at anything (except being fat.)

I like to think I am NOT one of those Americans :) I'm a dying breed. lol

I'd like to think your not an American At all.

Unfortunately your not a Dieing breed, your part of a growing infestation of Unpatriotic People who hate the very Nation they were born in. A lot of people, in a lot of Nations would kill each other over things you throw away Each Day, Keep taking it for granted please.

I Know there are lots of things, and people, that are Fucked up here. But thats Everywhere, not just America. If you are an American, you should be Proud of it. If not for today's America, for the America of the past. And the Great things America has Accomplished, and been A part of over the Past 235 Years.
I dont see why they have to change it. it makes more sense starting with the day anyhow.
Its not like your Average Citizen chooses to Change the Format of the Date. Its just the Way it is, and the Way it always has been to most of Americans Alive today.

Its the way the Date is spoken as well. 06/14/11: IE: Today is June 14th, 2011. Or November 1st, 2012.

It doesn't bother me that the date is formatted differently for you. I don't think its backwards, or stupid, or wrong. Its the way it is there, and the way it has always been. Just like in America.

Its just the way it is. Its that simple.

Just found this on Amazon.

Amazon.com: Halo 4: Video Games

"This item will be released on December 31, 2012."

Im Australian and havnt used Amazon much, so is this likely to change due to Amazon just guessing? Or is it legit?

December 31st is most certainly a placeholder for 3 reasons.

1. Since it's a 2012 release, but unknown what day, it's logical to assume that 12/31 is obviously the latest that the game CAN come out. Anything sooner than that date will be more enticing to potential early buyers.

2. December 31st is Saturday. I don't know about other places, but I know North America and I believe most of Europe sees software releases typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

3. 12/31 is New Years Eve. They most certainly wouldn't release a game on NYE because of the partying and celebration already going on (Although it would be awesome having a new Halo game to reign in the new year.)

Why would you undermine all the intelligent posts you've made by posting this garbage? Did you choose the format that America writes its dates in, because I sure didn't? You should be well aware that a nation of 700 million is going to have more than its fair share of different character archetypes for its citizens. Are there fat and stupid Americans? Definitely! Does the way someone writes the date automatically make them one? Definitely NOT!

I mean, I understand that there are a lot of people from the UK on here, but you don't have to kowtow to them by putting your own country down.

I'm not going to get into a heated debate over WHY I dislike America, it's government, and it's citizens as much as I do. Just suffice to say that I do not condemn it simply because it writes its dates differently. It is the arrogance behind the fact that not only do we insist on doing everything different (telling time, writing dates, measurements, forms of speach, etc...), we immediately think this is the only good way to do these things, we refuse to learn or even acknowledge other forms or methods, and that we're better than the rest of the world because of it. Not a day goes by in the U.S where you don't hear somebody being discriminatory toward another group of people for their language. Or their religious beliefs? Or their traditions and choice of lifestyle. I don't condemn for America doing things differently. I condemn because America thinks it's better than everybody else because of it.

As for the government, I'm not even going to touch on them. That will turn into a thread that will make my Halo Guide look like a footnote.

I'm sorry but I see people hating on America even on this site. Who cares if we use different units than most of the world. Very few people say that everyone else should use them(I know No one who thinks that, but apparently you see them everywhere), but the world is glad to tell us we need to change and somehow we get the crap for wanting to change it to our way. 343 is american so the date was in the mm/dd/yyyy form, if it was a UK company then they can use theirs and no sane person will have a problem with that.

Unfortunately your not a Dieing breed, your part of a growing infestation of Unpatriotic People who hate the very Nation they were born in.
It's really just the trendy thing to do now, both in and out of the United States. I've traveled a bit and have found it much easier to refer to myself as Canadian just because of how people perceive you as dumb just because you are American. Not to say everyone does this, just ignorant people.

Not a day goes by in the U.S where you don't hear somebody being discriminatory toward another group of people for their language. Or their religious beliefs? Or their traditions and choice of lifestyle.
I'm just gonna pick out this part of what you said because I really think you need to think about this in contrast to other some countries. I mean, I realize the US isn't perfect at all, but discrimination goes on everywhere, it's not exclusive to this country, and at least there are people here trying to make progress for acceptance.

I think you're a pretty smart guy, and you're one of the rare people who make good posts, but making sweeping generalizations is pretty dumb. Just remember man, Sergeant Johnson is American, and he knows what the ladies like.

Also, Captain America.

Also, Captain America.
He should have stayed dead.

It was a fresh breath of air in the predictable / now boring marvel series.

Took a lot of balls for the writers to kill him off.[Show's initiative, willingness to let go and move on from this story arc.]

It took a lot less balls when they caved in to sensationalist headlines that they were being 'un-patriotic' by killing him so they brought him back in the typical same old manner.

meh.

I work at a gaming store and we have NO concrete dates on HALO 4, future DLC for reach/CE....anything...

We won't know anything till 2-3rd quarter next year.

I'd predict hoilday as it will be an anticipated title... BUT wit he xbox NEXT being unvieled and slated for a 2012 release... It may be earlier to capatilize on players before they ge the NEXT....

I work at GameStop and can tell you this:
We set release dates like that basically saying "It's around this time" or "Its in this quarter"

If its ever the first 2 days or last 2 days of a month, its probably not the actual date.

It comes out Q4 2012, so that technically means Nov-Jan, or maybe its Oct-Dec, either way, November is in that set area.

Im assuming we'll see it Sept-Nov.
If they go with the Halo 3-Halo Reach schedule, itll be September. If they go with the Halo 1 and 2 schedule itll be November.

Why is it that people never look up on this stuff? Games launch (In North America) on Tuesdays. Rarely on Fridays. November 1st is neither of those.

I think it would be reasonable to say that it'll come out in November. Look which days are Tuesdays. I'd bet one of them is our release date.

Again, hope you're right. But alas, there were several games released on odd days in Q4 2011. So trying to work it out by the day of the week, doesn't really work anymore.
