View Full Version : Are you also hurting from playing a Kinect game?

08-12-2011, 10:32 AM
I have played a lot of Fruit Ninja Kinect these last couple of days and am really sore in my shoulders, arms and top sides of my back :o

I have also been extremely sore and exhausted after raising my knee to my ear a gazillion times in Your Shape: Fitness Evolved :Bounce:

Yes, I know I should be in better shape, but I was just wondering if there are other players feeling the pain or actually getting some injuries on the Kinect frontlines?

08-12-2011, 11:51 PM
i got my kinect yesterday an downloaded fruit ninja straight away. I played it so much that i slept late and woke up with sore shoulders. Best arcade buy ive done.

08-13-2011, 12:09 AM
Yeah I will admit Kinect games make me sore sometimes. Once I stayed up all night playing Gears of War 2 then my step-daughter had her friends over the next day. We all ended up playing Kinect sports and there is some ridiculous sprinting game where you have to sprint until you make it into the green zones then stop, then sprint again etc. I was sore after that day...

Not me, but this kid may have.

08-13-2011, 12:38 PM
LOL! The Kinect Adventures FAILS NEVER GET OLD! Kinect is a dangerous game!!!

08-13-2011, 02:01 PM
I've got the UFC personal trainer game. It makes me sore but I think Kinect was a great idea for ppl to get good exercise.

08-13-2011, 04:24 PM
my left arm is a teeny bit sore from playing it :s

08-13-2011, 10:42 PM
i am considering to buy kinect. do you guys think it's worth buying?

08-13-2011, 10:43 PM
do kinect games really hurt that much?

08-13-2011, 10:45 PM
also is it good for exercise?

08-13-2011, 10:45 PM
i like fruit ninja

08-14-2011, 01:40 AM
i like fruit ninja

Have you ever used an internet forum before? All those things you said could have been combined into one posting.

And when I saw this post I instantly thought of this guy

08-14-2011, 02:13 AM
well, the kinect adventures makes me and my girlfriend really sore, and not in a good way LOL

08-14-2011, 02:17 AM
Those were clearly spam posts, because it's such a chore to get a 5 post count.

Anyhow, I'm quite sore right now. I haven't touched my Kinect in maybe 2 months, so I decided to play Wipeout and Kinect Sports, two titles I've had for awhile but never touched. Despite all the running for both games my legs feel alright after a night's rest and some stretching, but my shoulders are killing me from the throwing events in Kinect Sports. Going to take the day off tomorrow :p

EDIT: Holy crap I lied. Just went up some stairs and my legs are killing me now. My back is also extremely sore.

Yeah I've also played too much Fruit Ninja Kinect where I felt like my arms were about to fall off... it's mostly because of that damn Pomegranate.

Kinect sports hurts. Especially boxing. I think I may be punching harder than needed.

08-16-2011, 08:33 PM
fruit ninja really punishes your arms, i feel sorry for all those 16 year olds without a mrs.

08-16-2011, 08:55 PM
I can't play kinnect more than 30min

08-16-2011, 11:37 PM
I played Fruit Ninja Kinect on release day for 4 hours straight. I honestly couldn't move my arms for 4 days, and my back and sides of my neck killed. As soon as the lactic acid left though, I was straight back on it :D

08-18-2011, 04:28 PM
Fruit Ninja is pretty hard on the arms. The exercise games plus Dance Central also make me sore the next day. It's is a pretty good excuse for the wife though, "Honey, I am not playing videogames, I am exercising!"

08-19-2011, 09:56 PM
I <33333 playing Dance Central but yes I do get sore. It's because they've made gaming something that you have to get off your ass for instead of relaxing lolz :D

Fruit Ninja is the bringer of pain in our house. (Gaming wise)

I`m sore everytime I play Kinect. :(:(:(

Wow, just wow. I thought you were bad for complaining about not understanding using terribly broken English. Then I read the last line and realized you were a spammer plugging real estate sales apparently. I further realized how much of an idiot you must be considering the market for real estate buyers is extremely small on a game forum, and the market for said buyers limited to ONE city, on a video game forum, would be in the single digits on a GOOD day. You probably won't read this but if you do, please understand that I sincerely hope Darwinism removes you from the collective gene pool, and soon.

On topic: I don't own a kinect but if you actually get regular exercise the kinect shouldn't cause undue soreness. Also even if it does make your muscles sore your BACK should not be sore unless you're doing something wrong such as improper lifting-motion mechanics. If you have to squat use your legs, don't lean over and cause repeated stress on your spine.

I have to lift and turn patients 13 hours a day at the hospital and my back is never sore. Shoulders yes, but back no. Proper mechanics in how you move go a long way to alleviating that problem.

10-09-2011, 06:40 PM
I hurt after 10 mins:(

10-12-2011, 08:08 PM
Not yet, but I did smash a pint glass with 1/2 pint of water in it, I left it on the table by the side and swung my arm.

10-14-2011, 10:47 PM
The only time I hurt when I play Kinect is when I haven't worked out in a while, or haven't exercised via sports. IMO the reason your arms and shoulder hurt is because your muscles aren't used to doing those thing, and since your doing them repeatedly it puts some stress on them. If you keep playing your muscles should get used to the movements, just don't over exert yourself. Take breaks when tired.

Yeah I got sore when I first started playing Kinect Adventures lol damn squats

10-15-2011, 08:14 PM
I haven't hurt myself but I've worked up a right old sweat playing the fitness games :D

10-17-2011, 04:07 AM
While playinf Forza, my arm get tired of just standing in the air. Its better with wheel and pedals

10-17-2011, 06:36 AM
I have played a lot of Fruit Ninja Kinect these last couple of days and am really sore in my shoulders, arms and top sides of my back :o

Sounds like them muscles haven't been used in awhile. Make sure you do some stretches before you play to limber up a bit. After awhile, get some of those 2lb wrist weights and keep playing, before you know it you will be getting into shape. I love Kinect for that... nothing like some Fitness Training followed by some cardio and then finish it off with some Child of Eden for shits and giggles.

11-13-2011, 03:43 PM
Dance central make sore, especially after playing for almost the entire day, the first few days I played a lot of kinect my arms got all sore and couldn't always raise them and I play tennis quite regularly :o

11-13-2011, 05:53 PM
I think I came close to dislocating both arms while playing Child Of Eden. I was getting engrossed in the game, threw my arms up to use a Euphoria. That was when the pain arrived.

11-25-2011, 10:20 AM
My legs are a little sore after playing kinect adventures. I don't usually jump around so those muscles get sore easy I guess.

11-28-2011, 02:41 PM
I watched my girlfriend play Dance Central for 6 hours whilst continually reminding her that she should take a break, it was amusing the next day when she couldn't walk. It's hard always being right :woop:

11-28-2011, 09:44 PM
I know somebody, who over the thanksgiving break, broke their foot playing kinect. He jumped up and landed on his foot and couldn't walk. He was playing kinect sports so be careful. It's funny because he plays a lot of hockey and he broke his foot playing xbox.

12-04-2011, 12:10 AM
yes! my gf and I played kinect for about 5-6hrs the first day we got it - mainly fruit ninja, kinect sports, kinect adventures, and both had very sore arms the next day!! didn't realize how unfit we were :)

01-03-2012, 01:59 AM
The wife and I played Adventures and Dance Central for about 5 hours first time we used it and both had sore legs, despite both of us being gym rats and pretty fit. Just uses muscles in different ways than we were accustomed to I guess. Not so bad now.

01-03-2012, 09:48 PM

Doing lots of penalty kicks and saving penalties in the kinect sports mini games, left me the next day with back ache and sore arms.;)

01-04-2012, 01:44 AM
Thankfully I didn't get hurt!! But I punched my friend in the face.. by "accident".

01-08-2012, 09:44 PM
Just been on Kinect Adventures and my ankles are hurting, from all the jumping:Bounce:

01-09-2012, 12:59 AM
dance central was the cause of pretty much the worst muscle soreness i've had in my life lol. the next day, if i wanted to sit down, i had to just fall into the chair because i couldn't bend anything without wanting to die.

01-09-2012, 02:46 AM
No way, I skate so Kinect is like a snack time :p

01-10-2012, 10:49 PM
your shape and adventures have made me sore :P

01-13-2012, 04:08 AM
Adventures made my feet hurt. What is sad is that trying to get the hula-hoops on the rockets in kinectimals made me sore for two days, you have to squat to get the hoops to drop after you throw them. I couldn't get the timing down and I think I played that minigame 10 times in a row, my thighs were very sore.

01-13-2012, 11:01 AM
my legs burned from all the jumping an squating but after you play it a couple of times it gose away

01-14-2012, 12:30 PM
After playing a song pon de replay in dcance central I got problems with my back. Winter stars makes my shoulders hurt a bit when I have my arms forward for a longer time for getting adrenaline boost in the game.

01-14-2012, 01:29 PM
After playing Kinect adventures for the first time my legs were hurting for several days after, not used to all the jumping around but you get used to it pretty quick and the soreness goes pretty quick I find.

01-17-2012, 05:18 AM
The UFC trainer can be pretty brutal on soreness the next few days but it is also very good.

02-07-2012, 10:28 AM
my left arm has been hurt for over 2days after playing Kinect Fruit Ninja. Awesome game though

02-07-2012, 02:45 PM
The problem for me is i can never be bothered to play Kinect but when i do, i play it hard. For a good solid 2-3 hours so yeah, i hurt the next day.

02-07-2012, 06:52 PM
I haven't bought Kinect yet but it's on my to do list :). It Sounds like fun.

02-08-2012, 12:56 AM
I wont lie, I'm an unfit fat ass like I'm sure many of us are so kinect can really mess up my arms and legs. I remember going on a Kinect Adventures spree for about three hours. The next day I could hardly walk. Maybe that is why so many "core" gamers are so anti Kinect. They are just too lazy to get off their ass and see how fun some games can actually be.

02-17-2012, 05:46 PM
Finding this thread makes me happy that I'm not the only one. Not only am I sore and achy from it, but Im amazed at how really bad I am at most of the kinect games I have too lol

03-19-2012, 01:31 PM
Played Kinect Sports and Season 2 yesterday with the family for around 6 hours. My god, I'm aching today. It really shows you how out of shape you are though

I did a Dance Central 2 3-hour marathon a week or two ago to knock out some achievements and ended up sore for a couple days. =D

* Clueless *
03-20-2012, 02:40 PM
:biglaugh thought I was the only one! Was pretty sore after Adventures and Kinectimals. But it was NOTHING compared to my first couple days playing DDR. I had so many injuries! Every joint was bandaged up pre-playing that game from then on. :D Funny thread!

04-05-2012, 06:32 AM
I had my first go on a friend's kinect last night. Much better than I thought it was, definitely built up a sweat on the sports games, finishing off with Fruit Ninja was probably a mistake as I am feeling the pain this morning. I might have to ring NHS Direct and see what they recommend for "Pomegranate shoulder".

04-15-2012, 04:19 AM
Kinect Sports has left me so sore, especially the rapid runner game, I could barely move the next day. Dance Central left me sore too after I played for about 4 hours straight lol

04-20-2012, 12:59 PM
After playing kinect adventures I was uber sore the next day..Haven't used some of my muscles since prolly high school :p

04-20-2012, 05:02 PM
I always ache after a few hours of playing any Kinect game, the longer I play them usually means that the pain lasts longer :(

04-26-2012, 05:43 AM
yeh i got sore and tired and thirsty but thats only gonna improve ur fitness level. yay for improving fitness level!! Not being funny but there is a massive ammount of obesity out there and its mostly due to lazy people eating rubbish foods and not getting any or enough exercise to burn it off. bad message to the youth if u ask me

04-28-2012, 06:34 PM
last night i was crazy enough to play kinect adventures straight after my P90 workout.. oh man am i paying the price for it lol good times

04-29-2012, 12:56 PM
I just got my Kinect about a week ago; the pain is finally subsiding from all the jumping and flailing I did in Star Wars.

I also kinda roundhoused a nightstand during Kinect Adventures, but that's on me for showboating.

05-05-2012, 08:38 PM
I also kinda roundhoused a nightstand during Kinect Adventures, but that's on me for showboating.

lmao thats awesome

05-06-2012, 11:53 PM
I had a 5 hour Dance Central evening, spent them getting 100% on most songs on hard and then farmed for the last rank. Had a 20 minute break after about 3 hours then went at it again. Couldn't feel my legs the next day and i had blisters under my feet. I love kinect.

05-07-2012, 05:34 AM
My arms were sore for a few days after playing a lot of Fruit Ninja when I got the Kinect. My legs got sore from crouching too much when playing Kinectimals trying to do those flying disc games a couple of times.

05-07-2012, 06:20 AM
Fighters uncaged hurt mei think because your swinging at nothing.

06-04-2012, 08:29 PM
My arms were hurting pretty bad after playing Fruit Ninja for like 3 hours straight.

06-05-2012, 01:22 PM
Yeah I often get achy if I play for too long at a stretch.

06-05-2012, 01:23 PM
Yeah I got sore when I first started playing Kinect Adventures lol damn squats

NO LIE lol

Only my arms from playing table tennis on Kinect Sports!

06-10-2012, 06:51 PM
I played Just Dance on a Thursday and I was still in pain until the Monday after. It was the worst kind of feeling.

Although first time on Kinect Adventures I lost my footing and fell flat onto my backside.

06-11-2012, 02:38 PM
Playing for hours at once definitely makes my arms/legs sore. There's this new Kinect game out there called Junk Fu. Towards the end very fast arm movements are required!

06-13-2012, 06:13 AM
30 mins to a hour tops. If I play over muti days in a row. I cramp up. Why I never buy only rent Kinect games.

ive been doing the kinect sports calorie challenged, and my ruddy shoulders have been on fire for days.

07-13-2012, 08:33 AM
Hit a new tier of hurting after playing kinect yesterday, broke my foot so in a cast for up to 2 months now.

Thee Elf
07-13-2012, 07:21 PM
About an hour straight of Junk Fu with rotating arms and alternating kicks on every bar left me feeling a little sore the next day. Great work outs though.

07-17-2012, 09:49 PM
fruit ninja did the same thing to my shoulders. wipeout 2 also caused pain in my legs for jumping around for so long

07-19-2012, 12:49 AM
I usually don't get sore, but if you get to close to me when I'm playing Kinect there is a good chance you will be sore. ;)

07-20-2012, 10:37 PM
Yep, pretty sore after a couple days of Kinect Sports 2...didnt think I was that out of shape, but man, my thighs hurt, my arms hurt...sheesh

07-21-2012, 05:56 AM
After completing Mini Ninjas Adventures my arms were really sore from all the slashing and arrow-firing.

Chaz Of Sparta
07-27-2012, 11:49 AM
Played for around 2 hours on Kinect Adventures with my friend online, we managed to get a load of Platinum medals on Rallyball and Reflex Ridge, so now my shoulders and legs ache so much. And playing on a hot might didn't exactly help either...

07-27-2012, 07:47 PM
Sore muscles are the reason why i got me a kinect... and it works! :ass

08-04-2012, 08:08 PM
I have been in alot of pain over the last few days from Wreckateer-shoulders are destroyed...........

06-29-2013, 09:33 AM
We had been playing kinect sports, and we had moved onto the javelin event. He started his run up, and hurt himself! He collapsed to the floor moaning in pain, and it was the funniest thing ever. People, my dad is not the fittest of people, and he was complaining, saying it was a 'official sports injury'. Please help me convince him that he's just unfit, and that this is not an sports injury, and this happened because he's unfit. He's really getting on my nerves, and  I just need opionions, and to tell him it's not an 'sports injury'.:uzi:

08-08-2013, 01:19 PM
Haha I agree it seems like your dad is just unfit :P I don't think this qualifies as a sports injury, but rather I think Kinect has brought into the world a whole new category of gaming injuries. My friend got hurt playing Kinect Adventures: he's tall and we were playing in a low ceiling room, so obviously he jumped too high and bumped his head really hard on a beam!

The worst I ever hurt from Kinect was trying to headbutt 10 rams perfectly in a row for Kinect Nat Geo. I never got the achievement, but I did get a sore neck for 3 days.

I have been playing Disneyland Adventures with the family and I am very sore. A good workout to 100% that game.

08-28-2013, 05:57 PM
Harley Pasternak's Hollywood Workout. I only do the required 25 minutes a day, but boy does he cram a lot of pain into those 25 minutes. Regardless, I like the game, and the detection works so well.

08-30-2013, 06:50 PM
The only Kinect game that wears me out is the Dance Central series, they are quite fun though, and it makes for great exercise.

08-31-2013, 10:11 PM
stubbed my toe on my wife during just dance 4, worse of all, on the video role

09-01-2013, 03:20 PM
I played kinect Adventures for about 6 hours straight like 2 weeks ago and my arm and shoulder has been in pain ever since. At least I got the achievements I was going for :P

10-13-2013, 10:29 PM
I seem to play Disneyland adventures until I literally have sweat dripping then hit the shower and find out there how sore I am

10-13-2013, 10:43 PM
I accidentally hit myself in the face when doing Javelin throw in Kinect Sports lol

10-13-2013, 11:12 PM
Recently Michael Phelps: Push The Limit made my arms very sore the morning after haha.

10-15-2013, 12:33 AM
I finished Your Shape: Fitness Evolved awhile ago and that sure made me sweat. Going to get one of the Zumba games soon and see if that'll have the same affect.
