If this is true, then will the Xbox version have 8 discs or something? Because Blu-Ray discs are pretty big to begin with.

if the game is like metal gear solid 4 with half of the entire game is cutscenes of at least 45 minutes each then yes but i seriously doubt that doom 4 have cutscenes like that.

Did you even read the first post? :eek:

Just means using more dvds, blue-ray is over-rated. Mgs 4 could have easily fit on several dvds but is stuck is some bs legal nonsense with sony just like how mgs1 was robbed from us in the hd collection. :boom:blurp

Just no....... :uzi::drunk

This generation has plenty of life still in it. The only reason they hiring for directx 11 is because directx11 is supported in the pc's to get better graphics. The hardware costs for next generation gaming is too expensive.

Judging by the fact that games are getting multiple discs and this one is getting like 8. That's a lot more hardware costs. I think it will release around late 2013 early 2014. If you don't that's cool but unless you have some sort of proof I'm gonna keep my opinion.

Really? Why would big company's make games like halo 4/5/6 for xbox if theres going to be another console around corner. Is this enough proof for you?

Always wanted to have more discs. I remember when I got excited when resident evil had 2 discs before it went downhill with the shitty 4/5 games.

Anyway nobody has confirmed the memory size, its best to wait till quakecon which is this week.

Well, the DVDs they use to put movies on...that you rent, or buy etc. etc., are nearly twice the size of the blank ones you and I can go out and buy. (Not dual layer either, which the X-Box does/can utilize).

It is something like 7.31GB (though they get upwards to 9GB) for Commercial DVDs as opposed to the 4.37GB of writable storage on a consumer obtainable blank DVD. (this is for the standard DVD, not dual layered)

I do not have blu-ray capability on my PC (yes it is archaic), but I can extrapolate and say that a commercially produced blu-ray is larger than the blank ones I could go out and buy, and burn onto.

You can buy 7.31GB DVD's. They're called DVD+R DL, every XB360 game is released on them. How else do you think people can pirate XB360 games? lol

I am fully aware of Dual Layered discs. Whose sizes can get upwards to 17GB, for a DVD-18.
I was referring to the standard single layered disc. Which I specifically mentioned several times, that was even included in the quote of me you utilized.

I did a bit of editing to clarify myself a little better :)

Last I heard it won't fit in to a typical BD disc either!

The Turkish website from which the information was pulled have re-translated the quote from Carmack so that it now reads: "There is a decent chance we will fill the PS3 Blu-Ray with more data than we ship on DVDs for Doom 4". This means that the PS3 version may contain more content than the Xbox 360 version, not that it may not fit on the PS3 Bluray disc. Slight error in translation, big news still though!
