For "The Missing Link" DLC achievement guide, see post #7.

Introduction:
In Deus Ex: Human Revolution you play Adam Jensen, a security specialist, handpicked to oversee the defense of one of America's most experimental biotechnology firms. But when a black ops team breaks in and kills the scientists you were hired to protect, everything you thought you knew about your job changes. At a time when scientific advancements are routinely turning athletes, soldiers and spies into super-enhanced beings, someone is working very hard to ensure mankind's evolution follows a particular path. You need to discover why - because the decisions you take and the choices you make will be the only things that can determine mankind's future.

Before Starting Your Playthrough:
Firstly, you need to decide how you want to approach the game.
If you are simply playing for achievements, you'll want to do several things:

Play on 'Give Me Deus Ex' difficulty.
Do not set off any alarms.
Do not kill anyone.
Collect all 29 eBooks.
Complete all side quests and the achievements corresponding to them.

If you are willing to do more than one playthrough, which will probably make your life much easier, you can plan out and split the achievements in two. For example, you could do one playthrough without setting off any alarms and not killing anybody on 'Tell Me a Story' difficulty, and then do a second playthrough on 'Give Me Deus Ex', whilst collecting all the eBooks and finishing off any miscellaneous achievements you may have missed on your first playthrough. Ultimately, it's up to you and how long you want to spend on the game and your Deus Ex: Human Revolution experience.

During the playthrough, try to hack as many things as possible and perform as many takedowns as possible (perform non-lethal takedowns by tapping :bbut: instead of holding if you are trying to get Pacifist during this playthough). Make sure to save before the end of the game so you can reload 3 times to see all the endings!

Misc:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is packed with side quests and optional missions, and the game normally rewards you with achievements for completing, and also completing an optional objective in the mission. Unfortunately, these side quests and their related achievements are missable and have to be completed before alternating between Detroit and Hengsha. The achievements are all listed in order so if you follow the guide there shouldn't be a problem with missing achievements.

Collectables:
There are 29 unique E-Books that count towards the Doctorate achievement hidden within the world of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Acquiring these give you an XP bonus of 200 (Scholar) each and ultimately your 50G. I have included an excellent video guide under the achievement description.

Praxis:
You earn praxis points from earning XP and using praxis kits. Praxis is used to level up Adam's augmentations throughout the game. But surely you don't want to spend your precious points on the wrong things, do you? Here's a list of essential augmentations that you will definitely want to spent your praxis on.

Icarus Landing System
Ok, you'd think that for an upgraded superhuman Adam Jensen would be able to jump without taking damage wouldn't you? Wrong. You can only fall a couple of meters before Adam decides he's afraid of heights. By taking this augmentation, you become able to jump and land from any height without damage. This is especially helpful with finding alternate paths and is also a must if you are collecting all of the eBooks, as one of them in Tai Yong Medical requires you have it. I'd invest in this as soon as you arrive in Hengsha.

Hacking: Capture
You start off with level one hacking, which allows you to hack level one devices. If you have the Explosive Mission Pack that came with the special edition (or can be bought from marketplace for 320 microsoft points), then this isn't as important as the Automatic Unlocking Device can handle the level 5 locks for stealth routes and eBooks. If you don't have the DLC pack then try and level this up whenever you have spare points.

Implanted Rebreather
This is optional but it is helpful for getting past areas blocked off by gas. If you feel like you want to buy this, then go for it.

Dermal Armor
This is really helpful when you do your 'Give Me Deus Ex' playthrough. It gives a much needed damage threshold, which is helpful when fleeing from fights whilst being shot or boss battles.

Move/Lift Heavy Objects
This is very useful and should be either the first or second augmentation you purchase. Moving vending machines and dumpsters normally reveal a vent that makes your stealthy approach much easier.

Sarif Series 8 Energy Converter
Buy more energy bars and a faster energy recharge rate when you have praxis points available. They greatly help the stealth approach by providing longer time to use cloaking, so you can pass through heavily guarded areas undetected. It also will help with offense, due to more a higher takedown count, but remember you will have to use a Cyberboost item to recharge your energy bars.

Cloaking System
The most helpful augmentation of all. Upgrade this as fast as possible, by making it last the maximum amount of time possible as you can sneak past groups of enemies without being seen. Possibly the best and most useful aug in the game.

Typhoon Explosive System
This is optional and just makes the bosses a lot easier. If you have 2 praxis points spare and are struggling with the bosses then take this upgrade.

Social Enhancer
You need this to unlock the Ladies Man achievement when you go to Hengsha the second time. Not really useful other than that unless you want to unlock unique dialogue options.

Conclusion:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution shouldn't prove to be a hard game to 1000G if the playthrough(s) are done properly. Following this guide will hopefully make the harder achievements less daunting. I have done 6 playthroughs of this game and not regretted a second of it, and I hope you share my love for this game. Thank you for reading, all constructive criticism is welcome.

Experience all the different endings that Deus Ex: Human Revolution has to offer.

There are 4 possible endings in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. You can save before the end of the game (after beating the final boss) and reload after completing to refinish the game with a different ending. You MUST speak to Taggart and Sarif during the final level in Panchaea or you will NOT be able to get all four endings in one playthrough.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-l9pqk=.jpg Pacifist - 100:gsicon:
Complete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without anyone dying by your hand. (Boss fights don't count.)

One of two hard achievements included in the game. This will require that you find alternate entries such as vents and create your own paths to sneak around enemies. Note that non-lethal takedowns, gas grenades and tranquilizer darts do not nullify this achievement.

It has been confirmed that you cannot get this achievement if you kill enemies in the prologue.

Gang members showing up and dead will NOT void this achievement, it is simply an error that will probably be fixed with an update.

Complete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without setting off any alarms.

For a great guide on this achievement, click here (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=325742).

An alarm is the loud beeping noise that repeats itself. If you are spotted in main missions, hostiles will likely activate an alarm unless you can kill them first. Being spotted by or destroying a security camera also activates an alarm.

From my personal experiences, this is what I have found:

- Security Cameras and Turrets cannot go hostile/red
- You can get in firefights as long as the hostiles don't activate an alarm panel
- Sequences where alarms are already activated don't count unless seen by a camera
- Killing the crazies on Panchaea will not void this achievement

When in the office at very start, you have to click on: (1) eBook, Patient X; (2) toy race car; (3) Being Different book; (4) old photograph; (5) Megan's computer, read all e-mails; (6) Picus newspaper. When you click on all these items, achievement will pop.

Note: This achievement is missable. If you miss it, it is the first thing in the game after the first cutscene so shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-+ULdM=.jpg Doctorate - 50:gsicon:
Read all 29 unique XP books within a single playthrough.

These are the collectibles found in the game. Below is an extremely detailed roadmap, and the eBook guide along the way is fantastic. Note, for the eBook located in Greg and Josie Thorpe's apartment in Detroit, you do not need to save them at the start as the door can be hacked relatively easy anyways.

Just a quick note, if you're trying for the Doctorate achievement, you have to make sure that you disarm the bomb/save the hostages at the beginning of the game, and you also have to save the life of the hostage (Josie Thorpe) that the terrorist Zeke Sanders is holding. This is because Josie and her husband (who was one of the hostages that you save by disarming the bomb) will later give you a side quest where one of the XP books is located. As far as I know, that is the only way to get that one XP book.

A none-lethal takedown is achieved by tapping :bbut: and a lethal takedown is done when you hold :bbut:.

I recommend only using non-lethal takedowns to increase your counter for another achievement listed below.

Knock out 100 enemies in a single playthrough.

Anything from gas grenades, to concussion grenades, to the stun-gun, to tranquilizer darts to non-lethal takedowns count towards this. You can tell if they are knocked out and not dead because if you hover over their dead body there will be an Zzz symbol and not a skull symbol.

Fully upgrade your first augmentation of choice.

Put all upgrades into an augmentation of your choice. A list of augmentations can be found below. Note that some of them may cost 2 praxis to upgrade:

Cranium Augmentations:
Social Enhancer
Radar System
Infolink
Stealth Enhancer
Hacking: Capture
Hacking: Analyze Add-On
Hacking: Fortify
Hacking: Stealth

Torso Augmentations:
Sentinel RX Health System
Sarif Series 8 Energy Converter
Implanted Rebreather
Typhoon Explosive System

Arm Augmentations:
Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis
Aim Stabilizer

Eye Augmentations:
Smart Vision
Retinal Prosthesis

Back Augmentations:
Reflex Booster
Icarus Landing System

Skin Augmentations:
Dermal Armor
Cloaking System

Leg Augmentations:
Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis

The easiest augmentation to level is radar as it only requires one praxis. Just save your game and put a praxis point into radar, and the achievement should pop, and then you can revert your save. Radar isn't as helpful as the many other augmentations.

Put a grieving mother's doubts to rest.

After leaving Sarif Headquarters and venturing into the streets of Detroit, Ms Reed will come and plead for your help in solving the truth behind Megan's death. This is quite a long winded side quest, and one of the first.

I cannot stress this enough, make sure to get Wayne Haas to let you into the morgue and police station. If you don't, all police will become hostile and make your life hell. Persuading him to let you in will also get you the 'The Desk Job' achievement.

Make sure to hack the level 3 safe in the garage with all the eBook-contained evidence, and get the bracelet from it. Keeping it unlocks the 'Sentimental Value' achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-0s3ak=.jpg Cloak & Daggers - 10:gsicon:
Deal with the man in the shadows.

There is a black, female prostitute acting as an undercover agent located between your apartment and the police station in Detroit. Speaking to her initiates this mission.

You have to perform several tasks to prove the guiltiness of Jack O'Malley. In the end, you'll act as O'Malley's henchman and take out a gang to start a gang war. However, this can be prevented.

At the end of the quest make sure to listen to O'Malley's blackmail offer and accept it to get the 'The Take' achievement.

Point of No Return: You cannot do any of the above side quest related achievements after leaving Detroit for the first time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-yqVwI=.jpg Rotten Business - 10:gsicon:
Help a lady in the oldest of professions clean house.

When you leave Detroit and enter Shanghai, make your way to the Hung Hua Hotel. Keep going up the stairs until you reach a door. Enter, and you should see a man and a woman arguing in an apartment about augmentations. Speak to the woman to get this quest.

The first part of the mission requires getting her friend back who is going to be 'leashed' - she will be genetically engineered with augmentations to make her 'better at her job'. She is being held by 3 gang members, dispose of them in anyway you please. Get the garage door open and speak to Ning. She will thank you and flee the city. You can then return to Mei and get a reward.

She will then ask you to frame the death of Diamond Chan, or frame him to get him arrested. Go to his apartment and perform a non-lethal takedown on him to knock him out. He will be alone. Don't use non-lethal weapons, stick to hand-to-hand combat. Drag his body outside and throw him off the top of the building and tumbling into the streets below to frame his suicide and get the 'The Fall' achievement. Return to Mei and the achievement will unlock.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-zMJTo=.jpg Bar Tab - 10:gsicon:
Help the Hive Bartender settle a tab.

In The Hive in Shanghai, after speaking with Tong, speak to the bartender, Bobby Bao, on the ground floor. He will mention that he struck a deal with a female broker named Jaya and she hasn't paid her tab, but she has gone into hiding and you need to track her down by hacking 3 devices across the city. After you discover her location, make your way to her apartment and she will explain that she was cheated and she will not pay a single credit for her augmentation.

You have two options here; you can pay a sum of 5000 credits to the Bobby Bao and he promises to not hassle her again, and you will unlock the 'Guardian Angel' achievement. The other option is to perform a non-lethal takedown on her and get the augmentation back out of her. Both options will unlock this achievement, but obviously the superior choice is paying for her so you can get another achievement as well.

I payed up her debt to get the 'Guardian Angel' achivement, then re-loaded a previous save and went back to her apartment and knocked her out and took the augmentation as the quest is still completed, and I was 5000 credits better off.

It may take some sleuthing, but justice must be served.

When progressing through the main missions in Shanghai, Malik will confront you and ask for your help. Her friend has been murdered and wants justice.

When you get to the point in the mission where you have to go to his apartment, keep an eye out for several items that prove his guiltiness. These items are:

Baseball Bat - Located beside the door.
Emails - Located in the bedroom on the computer. You need to hack this.
Answer Machine - Next to the bed in the bedroom.
Broken Clock - On top of the cabinet in the bedroom.

You now have enough evidence to confront Lee Hong. Go to The Hive and go to the top floor. He will be sitting alone. You now must choose the following dialogue options in your conversation: Falsified, Drunk, Antique Clock, Pregnant, LIMB/Belltower. You will unlock the 'Super Sleuth' achievement.

Malik will ask you to hack a level 3 security device in The Hive. Make sure to take out the bouncer closest to you or he will detect you after hacking. After hacking, meet with Malik outside. She will have a nice surprise for you, and a praxis kit. Achievement unlocked.

Point of No Return: You cannot do any of the above side quest related achievements after leaving Hengsha for the first time.

Help Officer Nicholas take out the trash.

This side quest is started when you come out of the conference centre in Detroit when you visit Detroit for a second time. He fears someone may be planning to blow up the police station.

Your job is to go to the locations he could be found (he was in the sewers for me) and either knock him unconscious or kill him. You then need to disarm the bomb. Use the code '0000' to disarm it and get the 'Lucky Guess' achievement. Return to Nicky for this achievement.

Follow Pritchard's lead to uncover the truth.

After getting back from the FEMA Facility in Highland Park, Detroit 1, you will HAVE to convince David Sarif to tell you the truth (see 'Yes Boss'). When he dismisses you, use the elevator and check your emails in your office, all 3 of them. Then return to Sarif and continue with the story as usual.

When you visit Detroit a second and final time, Pritchard will contact you near the convention centre, starting this side quest. This cannot be done unless you checked the 3 emails in Detroit 1.

When you get the Brent Radford's apartment, you will discover him dying on the floor. Keep on giving him morphine and then 'leave', he'll beg you to stay and deliver a fatal morphine dose. Do as he wishes for the 'Kevorkian Complex' achievement.

Carry on with the quest until you reach the garage where you search for evidence. There are photos in the safe and five emails on the computer. Some people get stuck here because they forget to scroll down to the fifth email.

Continue on and upon completion of the side quest the achievement will pop.

Point of No Return: You cannot do any of the above side quest related achievements after leaving Detroit for the second time.

Protect a client's interests by performing a less-than-hostile takeover.

You will be contacted by a person who I will not name for spoiler purposes, when you enter the Youhzai district. You will need to meet up with an agent. She will make you track down a group of terrorists and retrieve a data chip. Make sure to not kill anyone, non-lethal weapons are fine.

Return and make sure you have the Social Enhancer augmentation and then when you talk to her choose Inquire, then Charm for the 'Ladies Man' achievement. You'll then get this one.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-sptU4=.jpg Talion A.D. 10:gsicon:
Descend into the bowels of an urban jungle and confront a warrior-priest.

To get this, go to the LIMB clinic when Pritchard contacts you and tells you to go there in Hengsha 2. Speak to the Doctor on the left of the counter and he will want you to track down a rogue officer. If you are doing the 'Corporate Warfare' achievement then the manhole to his location is just next to the terrorists you have to neutralise.

Just agree with him if you want to avoid a fight and lie to the doctor or convince him what he is doing is right. Achievement unlocked.

Point of No Return: You cannot do any of the above side quest related achievements after leaving Hengsha for the second time.

Secret Achievements:
These achievements are worth 355:gsicon: from the original 1000:gsicon:. These come by completing out of progression and miscellaneous tasks. Please note: this section will contain some unavoidable spoilers. I am trying to list them in order to prevent confusion.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-olrkA=.jpg Ghost 15:gsicon:
You made it through an entire hostile area without so much as a squeak.

Simply make it through a hostile area without setting off any alarms or being detected once for the 'Ghost' bonus. You should get this early on, unless you go in guns blazing.

In the first main mission, called Sarif Manufacturing Plant. As soon as you arrive, go down the two sets of ladders. Then, progress up the alleyway and perform a non-lethal takedown (if you are going for other achievements too). Hug the right hand wall until you reach a dead end. You should notice a cardboard box that you can move. Move it next to the others nearby to create and alternate route. Continue up this 'path', and climb up another ladder. There should be another movable box to your right. Move it out of the way to reveal a secret entry. At the end of the entry is the power switch to turn off the electricity field blocking your path. Just continue up where the electricity was blocking and enter a vent at the end, and you're good to go. The achievement should unlock.

You can always save before this if you are unhappy with the outcome or want to see a different turn of events.

The correct dialogue decisions are: Try to Free Josie, Reason, Empathize, Reason

During the Motherly Ties quest, keep Megan's bracelet for yourself. When you find the evidence via the four eBooks, there will be a safe that requires a level 3 hack. Hack it, then open it to reveal a fifth eBook and the bracelet. When you turn the quest in at the end, there will be an option to keep the bracelet. This will not affect the Motherly Ties achievement.

You had an argument with your boss, David Sarif, and won.

This achievement can be unlocked when you return to Sarif Industries after a boss fight. First off, speak with Pritchard, then the guests. Then head up to see David Sarif.

I found that the conversation can change over time, so make sure to save before speaking with him. If he changes the subject and you follow a linear dialogue, he'll outargue you and you won't get the achievement. This achievement is partially reliant on luck, and intuition.

You convinced a fast-talking bartender to let you see Tong Si Hung.

On the top floor of The Hive, you need to convince the bartender to let you see Tong Si Hung.

The achievement is missable depending on the route you take when trying to find the location of the dutchman. I snuck into the Hive bar through the sewers and went into the vent next to the bouncer thats guarding the basement hallway. Going into this vent took me to a cutscene where I was given the info I needed to find the Dutchman without having to talk to the bartender. So in short, avoid the vents in the Hive's basement!

You defeated Yelena Fedorova, elite member of a secret mercenary hit squad.

You will get this achievement by kiling Yelena Fedorova at the very end of the Picus Headquarters level in Montreal. If you are struggling (this is the hardest boss fight and the only one that actually poses a challenge), at the start of the fight, run forward, then turn around and throw a gas grenade at her. This will keep her still for around 10 seconds. You can shoot her, use explosives, or (if you have the Rebreather augmentation and Typhoon augmentation), run up to her and use Typhoon. If you have more energy, the better this method is.

You convinced the smooth-talking politician Bill Taggart to tell the truth in public.

You need to convince Bill Taggart to share some information. The dialogue in this conversation can change so following a guide won't help, you need luck and intuition.

You talked Doctor Isaias Sandoval out of suicide.

When you break into the hideout, you need to make your way past the enemies and initiate a talk with Isaias. He wants to commit suicide right in front of you. Use your intuition to prevent him from doing so.

If you sneak into the back and hack Taggarts machine and figure out that's not what you wanted to do... reload and confront him in public and pop the achievement for "The Throwdown" Isaias will attack you still like he didn't get put out in public.

It's because a flag is set when you hack the computer that will stick with your playthrough apparently. Reloading doesn't fix it, only a new game will. I just verified this and it's documented on the wiki.

Lesson: Don't hack Taggarts computer at all. Confront him and The Last Straw before you do if you really want to hack it.

Overview:
Estimated achievement difficulty: 4/10
Offline: 10 [250:gsicon:]
Online: 0 [0:gsicon:]
Approximate time: 5-10hrs
Minimum number of play-throughs needed: 1 (2 recommended)
Missable achievements: Yes
Does difficulty affect Achievements? No
Unobtainable/glitched achievements?: Unknown
Cost: 1200 Microsoft Points

Introduction:
During Adam's quest for the truth in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, he mysteriously vanishes for three days. Where was he? What did he find out? The Missing Link reveals it all. After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected.

Story:
I have listed the achievements in order, so spoilers won't be unnecessarily given out.

The achievements for this DLC can be all earned within one playthrough if you save correctly and follow strict instructions from this guide.

It would, however, be more fun to play the DLC the way you want to instead of being limited by achievements, but whatever floats your boat, you can get the achievements done and get the DLC out of the way, or you can enjoy the full 'The Missing Link' experience.

Misc:
The game only has two unmissable, story-related achievements. The other eight require you to go out of your way and do things you wouldn't normally do, which is interesting because it opens up more options within the DLC.

Collectables:
The only real form of collectables are the three data disks to get The Learn'd Scholar achievement. These aren't hard to find and should prove no hassle if you follow the guide.

Conclusion:
'The Missing Link' is a fantastic, lengthy and fun piece of content to add to your Deus Ex experience. Although the price tag of 1200 microsoft points may seem a little too much, it is well worth the price, and if you're holding out for a deal of the week, then you're really missing out.

The achievements aren't overly difficult if handled correctly, and the DLC will be well worth your time.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll183/DarklordZerato/FactoryZero.png Factory Zero - 70:gsicon:
You survived The Missing Link using no Praxis kits, weapons, or explosives. Whoa.

A list of things you will want to take into account:

Do NOT use any praxis points to upgrade your augmentations.
Do NOT fire a weapon or use an explosive.
You CAN pick up a weapon or explosive.
Stealth and takedowns are key.

You will want to stealth your way through this DLC to get the achievement. Getting into gunfights isn't a good idea, because obviously, you can't use guns. You're limited to level 1 hacks ONLY, you can only takedown 1 enemy at a time, and you will have to wait the maximum amount of time for your energy to restore so you can use more takedowns.

This achievement may seem daunting, but if you approach it right, it isn't too bad.

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/8505/goodsamaritan.png Good Samaritan - 20:gsicon:
You replaced the power supply on a damaged stasis pod, saving the occupants life.

When you get to a large area with crates and ladders everywhere, you should have a blue side quest marker on screen. Follow it to discover a broken power supply on a stasis pod. Turn around and enter the storage room. Move the two crates that are in your way for a Reload Speed upgrade and a new power supply. Go back to the stasis pod and put the power supply in, and the achievement will unlock.

You revisited the site where Belltower discovered and captured you.

If you are doing a Factory Zero playthrough, make a save when you recover your armour. You will need to open the praxis stash next to your armour to receive 7 praxis kits, and then purchase the 'Icarus Landing System' and 'Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis' augmentations. The video will explain the rest.

In a detention cell on the right after you speak with Nina.
In room A4, Operations Security, Admin, next to the lasers. It is sitting on the desk next to the weapon stash and the guard sitting down.
On a desk in Dr. Kavanagh's lab, along with the three holotables.

After Burke attempts to kill Kavanagh and the prisoners with the gas, you will be given the option to save one or the other. If you are doing a Factory Zero playthrough, save now. Pick up a gun, or equip one if you already have one in your inventory. Take the Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis and Move/Lift Heavy Objects augmentations and find a large box covering a vent on the outside wall. Follow the path and it will lead to a generator with a small green tank on the front. Shoot the tank and you will save everyone and get the achievement, but to get Factory Zero you will need to reload your save and choose one or the other.

You performed a takedown on Burke without being detected.

To get this achievement, you need to perform a takedown on Burke without him going hostile. As soon as the cutscene with Burke ends, immediately take cover. Wait until the sniper on the left catwalk moves away, and then sneak past the mech until you reach a container with two ammo boxes in it. Turn around, and climb up on the metal support, then jump to the container. Turn right and jump down, and then immediately take cover. Sneak past the guard and the turret and go to the ladder, then wait until the heavy that is on the ceiling of the outpost that Burke is in turns away from you and climb up the next ladder. Perform a non-lethal takedown on the heavy (so you don't alert Burke and his guards) and then jump through the small hole below you. Burke will be staring out of the window, and you can just sneak up behind him and perform a takedown on him.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll183/DarklordZerato/ThatOldAdage.png That Old Adage - 20:gsicon:
Apparently, your CASIE augmentation doesn't work on everyone...

When 'the hacker' calls you after you take care of Burke and his men, if you are doing a Factory Zero playthrough, make a save. If not, then don't bother. Use your praxis to upgrade your Social Enhancer, otherwise known as CASIE. Continue to the mission marker where you come face to face with the hacker and when you are talking, when you have the option to activate pheromones, select Appease. This won't work on him and you'll get the achievement. If you want to keep things spoiler free, don't watch the video, but it speaks a thousand words.

Nice! an achievement guide finally being made! Great job setting up and thanks for getting it started. I don't if this helps with what you were asking in the guide but...:

All achievement can be obtained in one playthrough. Have to play on hard, be non-lethal, and stealthy. For choices and achievements (usually found in side quests) that go against the Pacifist, you would have to make sure you have multiple saves. Before the choice presents itself save. Then you could do the alternate choice, reload, and continue without screwing up the pacifist achievement or doing a choice that you don't want.

Someone made a thread attempting to explain the Foxiest of Hounds acheivement. So you can refer to this thread to help explain that achievement:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=325742

Also it is unknown but there is currently a glitch for gang members in Detroit that sometimes even if you shoot them with non-lethal weapons they show up with Skulls. It is unknown if you continue with the skulls on them if it ruins the achievement for Pacifist but it's better to be sure. The best way to avoid having skulls is save before going into an area with enemy gang members. Keep reloading if any show up with skulls. Rinse and repeat till all show up with ZZZs. For more details on the glitch refer to this thread:

Balls- right next to the basket are three cans (or if you have heavy lifting aug you can get a dumpster) and you can create stairs out of them right next to the basket, hold the ball above it, and drop it in for a very very simple way of doing this achievement.

Lucky Guess - I heard the code is just 0000 so when you find the bomb, might wanna save to be sure, but the code should be 0000.

Ladies Man and Talk Achs - As far as I know, CASIE is only way to get Ladies Man, but it is so incredibly helpful for all the talk achievements where you argue with Sarif or talk to the bartender or w/e and guide you through how to talk to them to guarantee you do it right.

Old School Gamer - When in the office at very start, you have to click on: (1) eBook, Patient X; (2) toy race car; (3) Being Different book; (4) old photograph; (5) Megan's computer, read all e-mails; (6) Picus newspaper. When you click on all these items, achievement will pop.

Gun Nut - When you examine a weapon, it has stats for it, including some green bars after the yellow ones. For example, the pistol has 4 green bars on each of its stats (rate of fire, reload speed, ammo capacity, damage output) so besides upgrading it with silencer and armor-piercing and the standard ones, you need 4 of each upgrade on it to fully upgrade it. So if you have one weapon you like, such as combat rifle, put all your upgrades into it and you can get it. Easiest weapon is Tranq rifle which only requires 3 reload speed upgrades to be fully upgraded.

Trying to just put more information out for this list. For all the ones where it says "convince this guy" or "show that girl" just redirect them all to one achievement and give general tips on how to do this. The only one you shouldn't have CASIE for is Unforseen Consequences but it's simple to do this without the aug. CASIE makes all the social debates 10x easier.

PS: Nu-13 so broken in CT

Also unless you make a point to save before it, you can NOT do Good Soul without killing people. The heavies kill the chopper too fast for you to just try and stun everyone. What I did was used heavy rifle to kill people, and when the mech appeared threw an EMP Grenade to kill it instantly. The main problem is the heavies so as long as you kill (or possibly stun) them you can do this because with those 2 guys out of the picture and the mech dead, none of the other guys do enough damage to kill her so you have plenty of time to KO/kill them all. When everyone is unconscious or dead, ach pops after Malik thanks you.

So there is no way at all to do Good Soul and the pacifist achievement in the same save? You have to save before then, Save Malik, and then reload and not save her?

Posting this here in hopes it helps other people out because I personally just messed up any chance of getting the Darker Shades achievement for myself and wont be able to get it on this playthrough.

When I get to the part for it I'm gonna try and do Good Soul without killing any enemies, it might be incredibly hard/impossible, but I'mma try once or twice. The key thing is to kill the heavies with the heavy rifles and the robot, then focus on wiping everyone else up afterward.

I guarantee if it is possible both ways, it would definitely be 100x easier to do it with killing but I still wanna try without.

The kill no enemies achievement is driving me crazy, on the one hand i want to get the 100 gamerscore, but i found some awesome weapons i want to unleash on the world. Really disappointed with this achievement as there are certain situations where i would rather rely on weapons to progress, but that's a no-no if i want the achievement, the game is forcing me to play stealth

It's pretty ridiculous. "Here are a few lethal weapons and some cool death animations but you can't use them if you're a cheevo whore". I read a great article on how achievements ruin some games and this is one of them. But enough griping.

Looking good on the guide. I really wish I read this before I played because I thought killing Zeke before he kills the hostage was enough for the achievement ... the damn thing says "convince". Blerg.

Oh wow. I'm kinda of surprised. Heard this from other people too. As far this game goes I found myself enjoying going the non lethal stealthy way more than the lethal way. I made a separate save just to see how it is on the other spectrum. Lethal takedowns and kills make more noise and attract more attention from nearby enemies as oppose non lethal (which isn't very beneficial if your trying to be stealthy). IMO I have more fun being stealthy and knocking them out, probably would have gone that route even if there wasn't an achievement.

Thanks, means a lot. Glad it is helping because it's my first retail guide and I wanted to do it right :p

Too often on this site you see guides that people rush on new release games that are useless, again, job well done

I've only done the first few missions, but i am really tempted to say screw it, and get out the big guns and start blasting my way through. When i play a choice/RPG game like Deus Ex, i like to play it my way, and use whatever resources i have that seem appropriate for the situation. I was planning on a second playthrough anyway, so figured i will go for the big achievements then, just want to experience what the game has to offer on my first playthrough.

Not sure yet as I found it on the internet, but it is either Lawrence Barrett or Yelena Fedorova. Hopefully. Don't quote me on that but that's what I think.

I think returning to Sarif Industries is story related anyways, let me take a look on YouTube.

EDIT: found a video.

I would have done it as well, but not completely (some times sneak/sometimes kill everybody dead;)). I just saw a guard get his neck turned like a cheap light bulb during a kill animation. I would have missed that if I went stealthy first. I haven't been able to see the wall punch or the typhoon animations because I'm pouring all my skills into stealth. Feels like only half the game. Luckily, play through 2 is worth it for a game like this.

I believe it's after you come back from a mission- one specific time where you can do this. It is missable so make sure you pick the right options. A bit of spoilers in it, fyi

Oh the Wall Punch augmentation pays for itself. In detroit in one of the sewers there is a breakable wall with a praxis point. So if you use 1 point toward wall punch, break the wall with the point, it pretty much just paid for itself cause the only way to get the point is by buying the 1 point augmentation.

If there's another way to get it, please share.

Just wondering, can anyone confirm that IF you grab all the books listed in the XP guide (like the one listed in this chapter) You will in fact get the achievement? This achievement is pretty confusing mainly because I know for a fact I've read books and gotten Scholar and they weren't on any of the lists that have been posted.

Same here. I already found two E-Books NOT listed on any guide here. All in the Sarif Manufacturing Plant. Guess they don't count towards the 29 whatsoever.

Damn what "hostage @ the beginning"??? I convinced Zeke to let her go but can't remember the first hostage. You sure about that?! This is getting more complicated than I thought.

I thought all the hostages in the beginning of the plant died regardless. It seemed like a scripted event. Even when you speak to the police officer he tells you that on the phone it sounded like they all died, hence the reason he tells you off.

Although while i was exploring Sarif before heading out, David told me to hurry up cos people were dying. Maybe i took too long to start the mission? If this is the case, props to Eidos for realism in relation to time, but damn that's messed up.

Anyone know why the hell the Doctor for "The Last Straw" keeps attacking me as soon as I move in?

When I do a cutscene triggers and he's talking about how there's gunfire and freaks out. After the cutscene he just starts trying to kill me... no dialogue at all.

Any help is appreciated.

I did not trigger any alarms or anything... and I should note I did the publicity stunt so it might only be possible to get that if you don't confront Taggart.

On my second playthrough I went to the helicopter imediately and yes you can go and disarm the bomb in the office where the hostages are and save them. This allows for a side quest that isnt an achievement related one. It does however lead to a bedroom w/ one of the xp books in it. HOWEVER, do not worry, this doesn't mean your screwed, its merely a bedroom that you hack into and can get the book regardless of having the quest. In fact right now I already grabbed the book and haven't started the quest. (I read that the quest starts after you read your computer after the man. plant which i have yet to do)

Edit:
@ KTA, I had this happen too, it's because I didn't talk to taggert, you have to get the taggert achievement first than you'll be able to talk to him. But since your that far its probably too late already.

Sorry, I meant the female hostage (Josie Thorpe, the hostage that Zeke has) and her husband (Greg Thorpe.) You have to save them both near the beginning of the game. I totally missed saving the husband, and honestly, I'm not totally sure how it is that you're supposed to save him, as I did not save him (I had assumed that you save him by disarming the bomb. I thought that it was possible to disarm the bomb as long as you head to the hostages/bomb right away. Don't linger in your office, leave to save them immediately); but from what I gathered after reading this online guide (http://www.realsg.com/2011/08/guide-deus-ex-e-books-locations.html), you have to have them both alive in order to receive the 'One Good Turn Deserves Another' side quest. One of the XP books is found in that side quest.

Therefore, again, if you did not save them both in the beginning, you can't get the One Good Turn Deserves Another side quest, and consequently can't get one of the XP books which is specific to that side quest.

I may be wrong though. Please correct me if I am.

And to this point still have not killed anyone haha. I even *spoiler* saved the pilot without one kill.

I need to confirm something before I advance the game any further. I managed to get the Good Soul achievement and I didn't kill anybody - used four gas grenades, three EMP grenades and my stun gun. However, is the Foxiest of the Hounds achievement still viable? Some people say you can get "hostile" with multiple enemies as long as an alarm doesn't go off, and when you start the sequence, you're already at "hostile". I don't believe there is an alarm at the ambush site.

If nobody has an answer, how close am I to the end of the game? If push comes to shove, I can just re-load and rush through the game in order to get Foxiest of the Hounds.

Youve got a long way to go. Personaly I kept restarting the downed plane area to make sure NONE of my ppl got killed for pacifist, because when I emp'd the mech its self destruct killed one of my tranq victims. Its actually a pretty easy sequence. I did recieve foxiest after doing this, it happens no matter what (the full hostile entire time).

This achievement cannot be done in the same playthrough as Pacifist or Foxiest of the Hounds because it requires you to kill people to unlock. A way around this is to do it in another playthrough, or save before you do the mission and afterwards reload.

Just wanna give you some info that you can add later.

Yes Boss - Acquaintances Forgotten - Kevorkian Complex

These are kinda tied together.

When you get yes boss, you convince David Sarif to deliver the mail about the research in your past.
You then have to read your emails at Sarif HQ, to able to get the Kevorkian Complex quest.
Following this story line you will then end up with the Acquaintances Forgotten quest.

Just stating this cause it seams not all know this and its not really explained anywhere.
Otherwise good job so far.

One thing you should do though - which would realy help me - is to put all the text in spoiler tags for the missable (and/or event/quest-specific) achievements. Just leave a line describing the quest the achievement is for.

If I'm on such a quest, I could just search the guide for it. What I don't want to do is scroll down, and see spoilers for other quests whilst I'm searching for the achievement that relates to my current quest.

Should really just use the Stungun if your going for stealth.
Tranq only knocks them out after a few seconds while stun instantly.
But you can get it the earliest when on the helicopter with sarif and he askes you if your going for a lethal or -non-letha approach. Choose non-lethal and you can choose between Stun or tranq.

Thanks. The lack of info is solely because I haven't been lucky enough to get the game yet.

Wait...

Then you really shouldn't be writing a guide for the site or this game. This implies you're taking all your information you have so far off other sites/sources.

We can't have that. To write a guide for the site (coming from me as a Guide staff member and the rules) you need to of played the game officially and unlocked most if not all of the achievements yourself and have valuable information for each one (or at least know what you're talking about) before you decide to write a guide for the forums.

Looking through your guide, and the comment you've made and mine above. You don't tick any of the boxes. Take the 'Unforseen Consequence' achievement for explain. Right there you have put information, but none of it is actually helpful in unlocking the achievement until I posted...

I think you need to go back to the drawing board. Seeing as most the people here have played the game before you've even put it into your tray disk..?! Sounds harsh, but playing the game bit by bit then updating when you reach a certain point, is not how you write a guide.

Also this idea is silly. Sorry, it's been done and not worked and to be fair is pointless. People know when they come into an Achievement Guide there will be spoilers, it's common sense. You wouldn't be here, looking at it unless you wanted to know and find out something, thus there's a spoiler right there!

Just mention at the top of the guide there will be spoilers, and there's your warning. If you don't want anything to be revealed to you - 1: Scroll past it or 2: You shouldn't be looking at a guide.

Good guide.

One thing you should do though - which would realy help me - is to put all the text in spoiler tags for the missable (and/or event/quest-specific) achievements. Just leave a line describing the quest the achievement is for.

Sweet. Thanks for clearing things up. Interesting that you can do that. Glad that I'm not screwed with the XP-Book. :)

I don't know what order they're in yet as I've yet to actually get the game, came out today for me.

 ...and I thought you've been through the entire game twice haha, my bad. You'll get to that.

How is is silly?

I don't mind reading something that might spoil the quest I'm on a little. It's accidently reading something that pertains to another quest that worries me. Why can't I care about the achievements and the story?

Also the OP credits a lot of sources, to be fair to him.

Contradicting yourself a little...

I don't mind reading something that might spoil the quest I'm on a little.

It's accidently reading something that pertains to another quest that worries me.

A guide is always going to have spoilers, and every reader knows, or should know that. If the above 2 quotes are going to happen, you shouldn't be reading the guide.

You post makes no sense. Say I have an achievement for this game but I put the description in spoiler tags. You'll be sitting there wondering what it says underneath. "Damn.. I wonder if this is a spoiler, but if I don't look at it and miss the achievement, I'll have to play the whole game again".

So you decide to look at it, you read the first sentence - Spoiler and you now know the ending of the game! - Now what?! The thing you asked the OP to put in has just back fired on you.

In short. If you're afraid of spoilers, don't read the guide and come back at a later date or on your second playthrough.

Also the OP credits a lot of sources, to be fair to him.

This doesn't matter. x360a guides are exclusive to this site and this site only and not to be posted anywhere else on the web as for the RoU. So this guide isn't "exclusive" at the end of the day.

I think we've crossed wires somewhere, or rather I've not explained myself very well.

When going through a game, I'll try to avoid achievement guides as much as possible (as useful as they are).

What I was suggesting was for the benefit of people like me who'd play through the title just to be made aware of which level houses a missable achievement within (for all I know, it might be all of them). You can then usually deduce that it'll relate to a choice you make or s specific action you'll undertake - so you can plan accordingly. edit; or ensure you've keep a save at the start of it in case you need to do it again.

If I really care about the story then I'd only read the help text as a last resort. Usually I don't care about enough to try to avoid it but this title is different. If the achievement isn't missable then I'll play through it without considering the consequences.

I just think this is a conflict of what we see/think, should or would be worth doing.

I'm simply going off the basis of what I've see over the years as x360a guides have changed and also being on the guide staff team. I've written a fair few guides for the site and I haven't put a spoiler tag in one of them.

I think I even did once, or saw another person place them in and people brought up this same conversation, so they got removed.

Like I said and I do the same. Put a message at the top stating what will be shown and it's down to the readers risk if they see or read something they didn't want to.

IF the guide gets submitted and then published the tags will probably be removed when we come to edit it and copy it onto the main site.

I don't know if it would be Impossible. I'm not at that point yet, but If your Quick Enough wouldn't it be possible to Gas/Tranq/Take Down All the Guards, then EMP the Robot?
Just wondering, can anyone confirm that IF you grab all the books listed in the XP guide (like the one listed in this chapter) You will in fact get the achievement? This achievement is pretty confusing mainly because I know for a fact I've read books and gotten Scholar and they weren't on any of the lists that have been posted.
While there are Dozens of eBooks Scattered around, only 29 eBooks are required for the "Doctorate" Achievement. The 29 are Unique eBooks(Although They look the same) written by Hugh Darrow.

Also, I think these are the only eBooks that give you Experience.

The guide has been updated now with more detailed descriptions for what I have currently completed. I have also re-arranged the achievements that I have knowledge of the order that they can be unlocked in, and added hyphens to separate the achievement name and the gamerscore linked to the achievement as that seemed to confuse people.

I will be playing this game lots more tomorrow, so bare with me :)

"Cloak and Daggers" and "The Take" are directly related and "The Take" is missible. At the very end of the side mission "Cloak and Dagger" you have the choice to either take O'Mally into custody or he will convince you to let him go. Let him go and as soon as you go back to the girl to complete the quest both both achievements will unlock. If you go back to your apartment O'mally left you a folder under a bottle of wine with $3000.

Btw i appreciate the work you have put into this guide, it is definitely shaping up to be quite helpful.

There's also an error on the 2nd eBook in Sarif HQ (in the beginning.)

The guide states that you can use the code 4145 on Mika Pine's office to open the door. The code will always give you a "Access Denied" message. Am I doing something wrong? Or do I have to wait until I come back to the HQ?

Its impossible, you must reload then.

Having done it, and refusing to let Malik die because I'm such an upright heroic bastard, I can confirm that this section is possible to do by tranquillizing and meleeing everyone while still getting The Foxiest of Hounds achievement.

A stun gun would make this easier, but I bought five batteries with Praxis, ran down and melee'd the heavy gunners and medium gunner, EMP'd the bot that drops, pulled the nearest body out of the way of the explosion just in case and then shot the rest of the snipers with tranquillizers except the one remaining dude on the floor.

Nobody fired at me during my successful run - they did twice beforehand, so I restarted. You WILL need invisibility and nutrients for this, unless the entire encounter doesn't count for being seen as you're already 'hostile' as it starts. I took the safe route, though.

I need clarification on The Last Straw. The dialogue isn't popping up (I saw this happening for other people in another thread). I walk into the room and the guy just shoots- the cinematic says that he was alerted by gunshots but I didn't alert anyone. I'm not sure what the sequence is to get the "talk" option with the guy.

If anyone has this achievement, can you explain

did you confront his boss at the news conference?
did you get The Takedown achievement?
did you alert anyone?
did you do a quest before it or go right to it?

I actually used a non-lethal takedown on a Derelict Row thug and he showed up dead, too, not to mention a couple other instances of tranq "kills" as well that I swear were zzzs when I dropped em. Oh, and the UR-DED in every instance has never, for me, killed anyone when used on a wall with someone behind it, including on DR, but when I came back through, sure enough, skulls. I emailed Square-Enix support to ask whether this will be patched, possibly even reversing those "kills" for those people who received Merciful Soul XP, but I've yet to hear from them, and that was a day or so ago.

Hi there. I'm not sure if i've read this in another thread but i have a simple doubt and question about "deus ex machina" achievement (finishing the game on hard). Whenever I change to this difficulty starting a new game, it turns off the "objective locators" and "object highlight" under gameplay options, very useful for me as this is my first playthrough. If i turn them on again, do i mess with "deus ex machina" achievement? My guess is no, but who knows. Thanks for replying.

Damn it, but I'm gonna play it a second time anyway(on hard then, on normal right now) and since non-lethal kills are better in every way that's the way I'm gonna play it on hard, too.
It's funny though how I really didn't start thinking about achievements until after I had finished the prologue(even missed that one in the first room) but I'll certainly be more careful on a second playthrough.
By the way hard really isn't that hard is it?Cause you can pretty much take out every enemy stealthily and the first boss fight wasn'T dificult on normal either so it can't be that much worse on hard.
Don't know about the remaining bosses though(don't even know how many bosses there are right now, curious to see how the story ends:rolleyes:).

Do you get ghost and smooth operator (needed for foxiest hound correct?) on side missions like the Mother's request for information on her daughter?

I can't recall if I should have. I didn't set off any alerts or get spotted, just the quick alert when shocking someone... so i'm not sure if the bonus's exist or if you don't get them on side missions. Can't recall (this is my 2nd playthrough).

Also do you get them progressively? I did the police station part at the sametime as the mother mission. Brought the chip back to my apartment and got the 1K for getting things done... no ghost or smooth operator.

Should I get them at that point to? The story line mission topic changed after all. Or is it just for the main "main" story quests?

Ghost is given to you when you are not spotted by a single hostile when making your way through a hostile area. Smooth Operator is given to you when you do not set off any alarms in an area that alarms can be set off.

I don't think that alarms can be triggered on side-missions, but rather large main missions such as the FEMA facility.

Hope that clears things up :)

I'm just wondering if that goes for Ghost as well. That does help though, I may just keep playing. I was just worried I lost foxiest hound when I didn't get ghost on a side mission & when I put that chip from the police station in my apartment computer.

I got the getting things done 1K xp but no Ghost... not sure if i'm supposed to there is my worry.

Not sure if this has been mentioned at all, but to get Taggert on your side at the DCC, a lot of guides suggest Discredit, Confront, Discredit, Confront, which makes him walk away in a huff. Discredit, Redirect, Confront, Redirect and it convinced him. One of those that reasoning with him works better than painting him in a corner (or rather, no matter what sequence you use for the first three, when he mentions Marjorie, choose Redirect).

I don't think there is actually a set guideline for dialogue. I think it just takes intuition, as it changes every time.

EDIT: The guide is in order now. Just finished up Cloak & Daggers in my second playthrough; the only achievements I need to get are:

Hey. I just finished the game, and am going back into my save to try and get Consciousness is Overrated. Now, I got Opportunist by 'farming' a guy by just repeatedly knocking him out, letting him get revived, knocking him out, etc.
My question is, does this have to be 100 different enemies, or 100 knockouts? If its enemies, is there a good place in the game that I can essentially farm them? I've got saves in pretty much every area, but don't have any non-lethal weapons. I've also not got any candy bars. (Can you guess why I'm having to go back and do it? lol)

I'm not really interested in another playthrough, Really i just want to beeline this achievement.

Thanks!

I think it'll be 100 different takedowns. Everything counts towards this, so I recommend doing a Pacifist run too (Tranquilizer and Stun Darts are really handy and count for the achievement). If you don't want to do another playthrough then I have no idea how you could approach apart from starting from a save conveniently placed at the very beginning :p

Well, what i was really thinking was is there an area at some point in the game with fairly weak enemies that I can easily incap. (The last level might be good, but I cant find any non-leathal weps.)

Also, I've got other games to play, so im not going to all 49. This one is the last of the 'easy' achievements that I need.

I don't know how to do it :o
If you bring up the achievment list for the game (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/deus-ex-human-revolution/achievements/) and rightclick on an image, you can copy the image URL and link it using the Insert Image button when in reply mode. Also, thanks for a great guide.

You should note "The Last Straw" has a glitch. I hit this glitch on my first playthrough.

Stock up on gas grenades for the crazies. Made that so much easier for pacifist. If you move after throwing them though they well hear you as they'll be hostile (ones that didn't get gassed). I got around this by not moving, when they came over by me I cloaked and shocked them. Or had a gas mine lying in front of me then gassing the search party :D

I just ran past them all with cloak. When you get to the outside part where you need to get to the bottom level it's easier to just jump off the side (if you have Icarus) and then you can just book it to the elevator.

Oh and for the glitch where the gang members show up as skulls, it's confirmed that it does NOT affect Pacifist achievement. I got multiple reports confirming it so you could edit the part in guide referring to it stating that it doesn't affect the achievement. I wouldn't say to remove it completely because others/ new people (who use the guide) may not be aware that this glitch is known and that it doesn't affect the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-uwTIE=.jpg The Mantis 25:gsicon:
You defeated Yelena Fedorova, elite member of a secret mercenary hit squad.

You will get this achievement by kiling Yelena Fedorova at the very end of the Picus Headquarters level in Montreal. If you are struggling (this is the hardest boss fight and the only one that actually poses a challenge), at the start of the fight, run forward, then turn around and throw a gas grenade at her. This will keep her still for around 10 seconds. You can shoot her, use explosives, or (if you have the Rebreather augmentation and Typhoon augmentation), run up to her and use Typhoon. If you have more energy, the better this method is.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-3TVl4=.jpg The Throwdown 15:gsicon:
You convinced the smooth-talking politician Bill Taggart to tell the truth in public.

You need to convince Bill Taggart to share some information. The dialogue in this conversation can change so following a guide won't help, you need luck and intuition. The dialogue augmentation may help.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-pQtBI=.jpg The Last Straw 15:gsicon:
You talked Doctor Isaias Sandoval out of suicide.

When you break into the hideout, you need to make your way past the enemies and initiate a talk with Isaias. He wants to commit suicide right in front of you. Use your intuition to prevent him from doing so.

If you use the Dialogue Augmentation on The Throwdown, you will be unable to get The Last Straw.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/509/5-vFVtM=.jpg Good Soul 15:gsicon:
Against all odds, you saved Faridah Malik's life.

This achievement is extremely frustrating if you're doing it on a pacifist playthrough. I found this video guide extremely helpful, it speaks a thousand words.

The video is great and all, but If you bring an EMP Grenade with you when you leave Detroit for the 2nd time, the robot becomes a 1 throw kill and there is no need to collect explosive barrels.

For throwdown it is not luck based, it is just understanding the speech system they've used. If you read the psyche profile it even tells you what to do depending on his actions

I've gone over that section of the game a few times and I've noticed that Taggart will do one of two things: Talks directly to you like a shrink would, or talks to the audience and downplays what you are saying by making you out to be some guy with a personal vendetta. If he talks straight to you - redirect, if he talks to the audience - confront.

Just agree with him if you want to avoid a fight and lie to the doctor. Achievement unlocked.

You don't have to lie to the doctor, I Agree'ed with the "warrior-priest" and he removed most of the belltower people walking around the place looking for me, and then I convinced the doctor that what he was doing was right and got the achievement (and a praxis kit).

For the achievement concerning the XP books I THINK you could just hack their apartment. It is all the way to the top of the stairs in the apartment building with the Secretary guard you talk to concerning Motherly Ties. I'm pretty sure you could just hack the apartment to get it because before I got the quest to met Greg Thrope at his apartment I had already hacked into and read the E-Book. However I did save them.

From what it appears though, it is said you have to save them because the side quest is the only way to get the book, but I don't see why the apartment won't be hack-able even if you don't save both Thropes...

Non-Comfirm

Just done aa run-through to check this (working on legend cheev), so saved it and did 3 runs from that point.

1st run - both saved, book only appears after you talk to greg thorpe and they spawn at house. Door hackable before ( I use it for early xp ), no book spawn

2bd run - Josie only, no book appears with her in appt. Door hackable

3rd run - no greg, no josie. Door hackable, no book.

Seems the book only appears when she spawns for the SQ, unless mine glitched for saving her and it's meant to spawn with her full stop.

I went through them and still got Foxiest, so that's not it. I don't know if talking to Taggert and Sarif counts towards Foxiest. The Achievement Guide on this one is tops and I recommend reading the link within the description for Foxiest. I always checked to see if I got the "Smooth Operator" bonus at the end of a level when it was available. Surprisingly, you can get away with quite a bit and still get Foxiest.

Decontamination rooms do not void Foxiest. I don't see how not meeting with Sarif or Taggart would set off an alarm, but even so rest assured that it won't void it, I didn't speak to either of them in my Foxiest playthrough.

People can eventually die from the tranquilizer. Just do what Seraphim17 did in his videos: knock out the first enemy in the game and just stealth past every other enemy in the entire game. It isn't that hard and guarantees you won't kill anyone. Also, you must have set off an alarm. It is possible you were spotted in the storyline forced alarmed states and didn't realize it.

I'm guessing it would be nearly impossible to do Good Soul and remain undetected in the same game?

Although you will be detected, there is no alarm in the area. So it does NOT count against The Foxiest of Hounds achievement. Alarms also DO NOT count against you where it is story forced. Such as at the end of the TYM mission. DESTROYING cameras (lethal weapons Pistol etc) will trigger alarms though EMP and Stun Gun will not also FAILING to hack some security devices will trigger an alarm. I did Good Soul with the tranq rifle (first time I fired a gun, non-lethal takedowns all the way) and non-lethal take downs. pretty easy (even on the hardest difficulty) Just take an EMP for the bot (will also stun the heavies) and the bot will self destruct, possibly killing enemies that are near by but not counting against your Pacifist Achievement. (though I did this on the PC)

There also appears to be a glitch with the stealth/hacking option for the Convention Conversation achievement where if you hack it will lock the later conversation with Sandoval into being agressive even if you reload an earlier save and do the conversation with Taggart.

The End 25
You defeated Zhao Yun Ru and destroyed the Hyron Project.

This achievement is unmissable and will unlock when you finish the game. If you have an AUD, run directly down to the right of the pods and work your way around until you get to a level 5 terminal. Stick the AUD on it and when it is hacked, change the pods to inactive. Then, empty a clip of laser rifle into Zhao and she will die.

You don't need to deactivate the pods, simply go invisible, walk up to Zhao and empty the laser clip into her....she is possibly the easiest boss I have ever beaten, took a matter of seconds to do it.

Oh right, thanks.

The only problem I had with the laser solution is that you had to carry one from several levels prior. If you don't use that weapon much or are conserving ammo for it then it's wasting space just to make the final boss a few seconds quicker.

On all my playthroughs I preferred the stealth run to terminal, 2012, break glass and kill.

You will get this achievement by kiling Jaron Namir. DO NOT GET THE BIOCHIP UPGRADE IN HENGSHA 2. If you have the Explosive Mission Pack, the Grenade Launcher is unbelievably helpful, and repeated shots will take him down in a mere 5 or so seconds.

Why is it, that I shouldn't get the Biochip Upgrade!? Does anybody know?

Thank you for this --
I just picked up the game from Redbox. I'm sure I won't be getting all the achievements just in the two days that I have access to the game, but this will help greatly.

How likely is it that I'll be able to to play all the way through in less than 2 days?

Not going to go through 7 pages, so sorry if this has been mentioned, but by the way it hasn't been edited, I don't think it has.

When you break into the hideout, you need to make your way past the enemies and initiate a talk with Isaias. He wants to commit suicide right in front of you. Use your intuition to prevent him from doing so. If you use CASIE to win the argument with Taggart, this achievement cannot be obtained in the same playthrough.

Quote:
If you sneak into the back and hack Taggarts machine and figure out that's not what you wanted to do... reload and confront him in public and pop the achievement for "The Throwdown" Isaias will attack you still like he didn't get put out in public.

It's because a flag is set when you hack the computer that will stick with your playthrough apparently. Reloading doesn't fix it, only a new game will. I just verified this and it's documented on the wiki.

Lesson: Don't hack Taggarts computer at all. Confront him and The Last Straw before you do if you really want to hack it.

In Bold: This is wrong. I used a persuasive narrative to sway Taggart (Mentioned that the guy in the room with us has a device to tell if something is real or not) and I won the conversation off that and got the achievement.

When I came to I used 'Tough Love', 'Emphasize' and finally 'Tough Love' again and the achievement still unlocked!

Yeah I don't know what nitwit would have mentioned that but it's incorrect. Isaias goes hostile if you don't win the speech battle againt Taggart. If you do win againt Taggart, then you have to speech battle Isaias out of commiting suicide.

Nice guide but you should comment on a few of the achievements that are missable if you don't get there fast enough or if you do something that you should avoid in order to get the achievement. For example, saving the hostages you need to move quickly in order to do that in the first mission. Another example, the "Yes Boss" achievement as far as I can tell is only available after you return from the first mission. Third, I have no idea where Taggert went but because I followed the mission prompt to his computer then ended up in a battle trying to get out of that room he was not in the room giving a speech and he's nowhere to be found. So I guess I have missed out on the Throwdown achievement. I didn't hack his computer, just was stupid enough to follow what the game told me instead of tracking Taggert down and now I won't be able to talk the guy out of attacking me or committing suicide so I'll miss that achievement. And because I missed the Yes Boss achievement I won't be able to get the side quest from Pritchard, so I'll miss that achievement.

Overall I think the achievement design for this game pretty much stinks. Great guide, though and it has helped me track down a few I'm sure I would've missed.

Firstly, saving the hostages is not an achievement. Secondly, I have mentioned that Yes Boss is obtainable after returning from FEMA, and lastly, I think your game glitched or something because opposing Taggart is story related. So I would recommend doing another playthrough or reloading a save.

Even if you are cloaked, you still go hostile. This part of the game, apparently, does not affect Foxiest of the Hounds, however.

Some explanation on Apex Predator & Back Stage Pass.

For Apex predator, you don't actually have to be undetected, I only killed Burke while invisible with everyone shooting at me (hostile). I don't know if this means simply "takedowning" Burke will net you the achievement or if you need to cloak & takedown Burke.

Back Stage Pass is found when you return from the lab & Burke talk to you in the scanning pod. Quincy will talk to you soon after & notify you that he has left some weapons & ammunition in his store. Reach his store and go towards the back. There are 2 crates by a computer. Move them and you will find a switch. Flick the switch to unlock the achievement & reveal a secret armory.

Can anyone confirm that you CANNOT even pick up a grenade to get the Factory Zero achievement? And do lethal takedowns count against you? If so, I'm starting it over.

I know I've picked up a couple of grenades, but I know I've never used them. And for some reason, one of my non-lethal takedowns still killed a guard for whatever reason.

Back stage pass - at the end where Quinn tells you to go back to hi shop, go to the very back. Move two boxes, and there will be a button on a table thing. This opens a weapon cache and gets the achievement.

Thats incorrect it is safe to pick up weapons and grenades as I did both and had grenades in the quick slot but still got the achievement.

Lethal takedowns do not count against you as I killed quite a few people while doing Factory Zero

To be on the safe side regarding weapons it is probably best to drop them if you pick one up so you dont use them by accident

There are also alot of tips in the Factory Zero glitched? thread regardin all the secret achievements

@NetsForce I think picking up the armor is the main mission and thus you must.

The Learn'd Scholar
although i do not have pix or vids i will try to describe them for you...

they have a black square structure that appears to be about 1 ft on each side. in the middle part of each of these squares is a large round lighted lens surrounded by wide cross (same material, color as the square--black).

*** NOTE SPOILERS below ***

one is in the offices close to elevator to get to mechanic/vendor. another is across the hall from a prisoner named Nina in detentiin interrogation center. the 3rd one is in room where Tiffany Kavanaugh is located.

you will need to have the first 2 before actually proceeding thru the retinal scan checkpoint en route to meeting Kavanaugh. once you arrive at her surgery suite you will see 2 black tables as soon as you enter her room. The third holographic item is in this room on a medical tray. the third black table is just to the left of Kavanaugh & slightly behind her.

if you have each holographic item then when you interact with each table it will take the item from your quest inventory (to check how many you have go to inventory then click "Y") the item will light up the hologram on table. if you interact with table but do not have holographic item it will show a ghost image of where it should be placed.

one other thing, each of these square holographic items has a different color circle in middle: one is blue, one red & one green.

Found all the datadisk thanks to him.
I'll give it a bit more detailed:
1. After speaking with Keitner she will tell you to go to the detention block. Go through the door that is under the turret and then go left and take the first right. In front of you will be some stair and to your right you will have some lasers on your right. Enter the first door on the right behind the first set of lasers and you'll will enter a room with a guard and on the desk in the far left you will find the blue datadisk. (This one might only appear after you found Nina and then watched the cutscene with Burke and the scientists)
2. After you spoke to Nina simply continue walking down the path and enter the room in the far right corner. To your right you will find the red datadisk on a desk.
3. After having used the eye on the retinal scanner and entering the morgue go to the far left corner past the computer. On a tray on your left you will find the green datadisk.

Now place them on the black jolographic display tables in the room where you found the green datadisk and it is achievement unlocked.

Roadmap is coming soon, so it's rather obvious why it's vague. Also those that are said to be unlocked with natural progression are story achievements.

It requires 2 playthroughs because you are not allowed to pick up weapons and grenades. Besides that you may not use praxis points.
And there is a mission that ask you to create a rocket launcher, creating this counts as picking up a weapons and requires you to use praxis points to reach the components.

Hi, well done with the achievement guides. just want to add/ critic the following achievements that u have mentioned.
for Apex Predator: you can be seen by the guards and Burke in the final room, they just can't be hostile when you perform the takedown on Burke. Also it is not necessary to use the praxis to do the takedown as i was able get this achievement and Factory Zero all in one go.
for Factory Zero: you can pickup weapons and guns, just remember to have them holstered at all times, that way you can sell it to Quinn :P. to memory i think you can use the energy bars and painkillers without effecting this achievement.

Buggy? I would definitely say so, there's videos out there of players getting into cover in plenty of time without cloak and without the troops going hostile. But for me the split second Burke stops talking everyone goes hostile and the snipers are already zeroed in on me. Bugger....

Had to reload my save quite a few times and finally managed to get cloak up at the very moment you get control of Jensen again. Pain in the tuckas that one, and quite glad to be done with it.

When I finally managed to get over to the ceiling entrance, I tossed in a concussion grenade, he went hostile for a split second and I killed him as he recovered, Apex still unlocked. That pistol of his is beastly!!! :woop:

I know I'm late to the party, but I recently finished my first playthrough of the game and got all the achievements in one go, thanks especially to this guide, and just wanted to give a bit of anecdotal data regarding Pacifist.

1. In Shanghai I knocked out a guard and dragged him into a ventilation shaft to hide the body. Upon returning, I noted that he became dead all on his own for some reason.

2. During the fight to save Malik, I EMP'd the robot which outright killed one of the troops there before I got the chance to knock him out and drag him away.

Despite both of these deaths potentially being on my hands, Pacifist still unlocked in the end.

Thanks for the guide it did come in handy though I've got to say I found the order they were listed in pretty disjounted. I would have expected a roadmap to layout the achivements and show what order you could get them, whereas for example finding everything in the office is mentioned low down when it should be mentioned right away.

I was thinking the achievments (in the roadmap) would have been listed by the sections of the game i.e. Prologue, Detroit 1st, etc

And the e books guide could have been done so much better, I'm not sure about everyone else but I'd have much preferred a text description (the order of the ebooks really threw me a couple of times) alongside a warning about the hive and not being able to go through the vents until you've unlocked tong's office. The lack of that warning resulted in me having to re-do most of the e-books on my second playthrough.

But that's just me being critical, it was still a massive help, it just meant having to read it from top to bottom many times over to make sure I weren't going to miss the achivements out.

Oh and I wish the site had used your full description for the Acquaintances Forgotten achivement as I went off the description from the site and missed the whole reading my emails when in detroit the first time lol.

This achievement may seem daunting, but if you approach it right, it isn't too bad

You cant kill anyone with your blades ether :/

Thank you for the great guide! Helped me get more achievement points than my friend who was playing it too!

For the quest Rotten Business, does choosing to kill Diamond Chan actually void Pacifist or is it okay to kill him without affecting Pacifist?

Make a save before you enter his appartment, that way you can make his death look like an accident and get the achievement, then reload the save and knock him and plant the drugs, and carry on as you were and you'll still get the Pacifist achievement.

That makes sense, but I'd still like to know (mainly out of curiosity) if killing the guy does void the achievement. I've read around and it seems there are people on both sides, so I'd like a confirmation from the OP or someone who actually knows firsthand.

Thanks for your answer though, Sonicmark. That's what I plan to do.
