Well, my friend (jarhead) told me that putting toothpaste on a game when it's not working helps it. I did it, and it fixed it, but how does it work? I mean, it's scratched more than it ever was...

It acts as a filler. Basically just like using wax, the disc no longer has a huge ass cut in it. Only works with the gel type of toothpaste right? I've also heard boiling your games works.

I don't think it was gel, but like, can I still return it for a new one? Eventhough the bottom is scratched? I don't want a toothpaste filled game. :(

Well that disc-doctor stuff saved me sixty bucks. My friend just got anew new game and he said something bout me so I turned around and threw a pillow at him, he ducked and it knocked over his 36o. His new game didnt work. I used disc doctor on it and wella!! No wasted sicty bucks for ME!!

My friend recently broke my Gears disk and I really don't want to have to pay the full price again.

Anyone have an answer that doesn't cost money?

if you dont have a big ring scratch my friend said putting pine-sol on it works but you let it sit for a minute and it like dissolves a layer but makes it work

There's always backing up your games ;)

Boiling discs is not for fixing scratches. It's typically used for new discs that still have residue from the manufacturing process on them (such as OXM discs)

Well I'm going to try and exchange it tomorrow... I don't know why, but it bothers me so much that I have the game right now in the condition that it's in. I just bought it lastnight, and it's already on like, life support.

Disc Doctor is like 15-20 bucks...It can be found at any music, game or tech store...

I rented Open Season for the easy 1000:D and i completed the first mission but the second mission loading screen froze every time and i got a disc read error.

I looked at the disc there were a number of big scratches, and i thought to myself hey lets use that bizarre toothpaste trick i just read out of total coincidence on x360a, and guess what? Now im well on my way to the 1000! It worked! I do wonder though what the rental people will think when they get a game back smelling heavily of aquafresh spearmint toothpaste :D

They'll probably think your teeth sucks.

Colgate, Crest, and Oral-B FTW!

I don't know, but I'm getting ready to return this game. I'm hoping I don't look like a complete jackass.

Meh, maybe I'll just put on a mask or paper bag that way they won't recognize me during my future trips to GameStop.

It might be better to just use the fake glasses and the funny nose. This way the cops wont be called to the store to take down the unknown comic in the paper bag.:p

Woohoo! They exchanged it.

disk doctors are around $30. I bought one myself and i think that it is a very good investment. I have fixed 4-5 of my disks and it seems to work very well

My Quake 4 disc recently got circle-scratched and I took it to Hollywood Video and they resurfaced it for $2, cheaper than buying a game doctor since I hardly ever scratch my games.

So a circle-scrath is where there's a perfect circle going around the disk about 1/4 to 1/2 in, correct? If so, this is what happened to me. What I'm going to do is use my friend's receipt (he just bought Gears used yesterday) and try and return my game. Hopefully it works, otherwise I'll have to buy a game doctor or some toothpaste.

I have to admit, I felt extremely stupid putting toothpaste on my CD.

my PGR3 disk has a scratch on the very out side(my friend pick one side of my 360 up) will the tooth paste work with that?

Tussell
07-23-2007, 06:14 AM
Try it, it never hurts to try, it makes little scratches but nothing that will cause it to be unreadable.

JoeHacker90
07-23-2007, 08:27 PM
its already unreadable. lol.

Tussell

I know, but I'm saying the scratches don't cause it, they're not that bad. Just try the toothepaste.

I put it all over mine, I guess you just put it in the scratch, whipe it off with toilet paper. It should now be all smeared, then take another toilet paper, wet it, and whipe it on the smears to clear it. Then dry it, and throw it in the system.
