Ceris
Is there a way to change which ending you are getting midway through the game? Or will you be locked into one at some point into the game? It would be convenient to only have to play a smaller number of playthroughs but just load up a midpoint save file and continue from there to get a different ending, shaving off a couple hours of playing here and there. Deejayc
Yeah you can but it will be really tough. but the major thing is you have to get all the endings on one save file if you want to get the Dog ending. so you pretty much can't cut corners on the # of playthroughs. and the 10 star rating you will want to end on the Dog ending to make it easier. hope this makes sense because all the endings in this game are confusing. singhellotaku617
The bigger problem is the endings are influenced by a whole lot of vague parameters, its not like Homecoming where it was based on 3 binary choices
Ceris
The bigger problem is the endings are influenced by a whole lot of vague parameters, its not like Homecoming where it was based on 3 binary choices Yeah, that was the problem. I do remember reading that it is possible though, since there are a few ending changers around in the Hotel for SH2, like the tape recording, listening to the whole conversation in the hallway etc. I tried changing my ending once though, and it didn't work... Accidentally got In Water when going for Leave because I kept my heath low, since I felt I had enough to go on:p
Dallas
I managed to acquire the Leave, Rebirth and Alien endings on one save. I'm pretty sure that Leave is the default ending and that you will get that as long as you aren't doing the stuff for the Maria ending (I didn't do anything that the guide says to do for the Leave ending, I just avoided the Maria ending stuff). So I used the Blue Gem in the first two places that you have to, and collected the first 3 items for Rebirth. I then saved after getting the key to the third floor gate (from the music box puzzle), then I finished the game, got my Leave ending. Then I loaded up my save and went into room 312 or whatever and used the Blue Gem and got the Alien ending. Then loaded up the save again and collected the last Rebirth item in the Alternate Hotel Reading Room and finished the game getting the Rebirth ending. But FYI, if you do this, only one ending actually will be tallied on you end stats screen. So if you are going for the 10 star rank, do not do this!! You actually have to play through all six times on a new save. Also, if you still do it and are wondering. I found through trial and error that the ending you receive LAST is the only one that counts. Not the first two.
TVthePunisher
Ah Konami and multiple playthroughs...*stares at Metal Gear Solid 2 in the MGSHD collection*...I guess just like with MGS2 first time will be for story and taking my time, then every time after that will be practicing speed runs for the inevitable pain in the ass to getting the 10 Star ranking. What is it with Konami and making the second game in a series harder to complete than the third? Granted technically MGS2 is the fourth and MGS3 is the fifth (if you count Metal Gear 1 and 2)...but still, you can complete MGS3 in just a single playthrough with the right saving and it doesn't take but a day or so to finish....MGS2 took me the better half of two weeks to knock out. xDante1986
this game is great so I believe it´s not a problem to finish it multiple times.... Right now I finished this game twice (Leave, Rebirth) In next play I will get UFO ending.....
I Super Hans I
I was hoping this would be possible too, but yeah not gonna happen if you wanna go for the Dog Ending
Ceris
I was hoping this would be possible too, but yeah not gonna happen if you wanna go for the Dog Ending Not just that, you have to do all the playthroughs one at a time for the 10* achievement. I wasn't thinking when I started this thread
gobey17
Thanks for this info, bit annoying having to do six playthroughs but I guess you can rush through the rest of them. However, if I was to do my 10 star runthrough and going for the dog ending to finish it quicker, do I have to obtain this ending before going for 10 star, or can I obtain it at the same time while getting the green spray achievement, saving another playthrough? Hope that don't sound confusing. haha
BosmaniaK
in my second playthrough I'm gonna get all requirements for Dog/UFO/Rebirth and another one, then save at a point, finish of an ending and reload etc. I don't need all my endings on a savefile because I can't be arsed to playthrough 7 times. And a 10 star hard playthrough would be too frustrating.
