Introduction:
To newcomers: Welcome to the foggy streets of Silent Hill as they were in the early 2000's. To veterans: Welcome back! This is Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 remastered in HD for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, along with another 1000:gsicon: for the taking. The games' textures look wonderful compared to their original releases.

Preparation:
This HD Collection has framerate issues. If you have the extra space on your hard drive, I suggest installing the game to help a little. Your first step on the actual game is to choose which one you want to play first.

Silent Hill 2

Step 1: Playthroughs 1-3 (Leave, Maria, In Water endings):
These playthroughs will be used to simply learn the game at a leisurely pace, but they do have an important purpose. To unlock Extra Puzzle difficulty, you need to beat the game on the 3 given difficulties first. Meaning you should play each of these 3 playthroughs on different puzzle difficulties (combat difficulty doesn't matter). Example: The playthrough going for the "Leave" Ending, play on easy, for Maria, play on Normal, and In Water, play on Hard.

Note: If you make multiple save files, make sure all of your save data is done with the same file loaded. If you split up endings between different save files, they will NOT count towards your final count.

Step 2: Born From a Wish:
This side story is also part of the game's completion so it is part of your main save.

Step 3: Playthrough 4 (Rebirth ending):
This playthrough's ending is unlocked after finishing the game once. This one should be played on Extra Riddle difficulty to get that achievement out of the way. When playing this time, don't worry about getting the first 3 endings, as you won't be able to get them. Throughout the game, make sure to pick up the 4 items for the ending, and you will get the ending for just obtaining these.

Step 4: Playthroughs 5 and 6 (UFO and Dog endings):
For these two endings, you are required to pick up a certain item and use it. For the UFO ending, you need to use the Blue Gem in 3 certain spots throughout the game, the last time giving you the ending. For the Dog ending, you need to pick up the Observation Room Key and use it on the observatory door.

Step 5: 10* Playthrough

This should be the final achievement you need to finish off SH2. To get this achievement, you need to achieve a 10* rating at the end of the game. See "Who Needs A Gun" achievement below.

Mop Up

There shouldn't be a need for this, since "Who Needs A Gun" requires you to get every one of the more difficult achievements in SH2.

Silent Hill 3
SH3 doesn't have any difficulty related achievements so you can play on Easy difficulty for both puzzles and combat.

Step 1: Playthrough 1 (Normal ending):
Play the game as you normally would. Silent Hill 3's achievements are much easier to get. Don't worry about the boss times or any other achievements since you can get them in your 2nd and 3rd playthrough. Also in this playthrough, you want to either choose to kill more enemies with at gun than melee, or melee than gun. Make an attempt to kill the final boss with a melee weapon as this unlocks the Unlimited Submachine Gun.

Step 2: Playthrough 2 (Possessed ending):
Play on Extra New Game. Same as playthrough one, just make sure to kill everything that moves and to collect a lot of healing items. Just let the final boss hit you A LOT before finishing it off to rack up the damage total. In this playthrough you should kill 75 enemies with a melee weapon and 75 enemies with a gun, making sure one of them is more than the other.

Step 3.1 Playthrough 3:
This one is in case you didn't rack up 333 kills yet for Heather Beam. Use this playthrough as a "clean-up" for any achievements you are missing besides the UFO ending. Also, attempt to save up to 2 times and beat the game in under 3 hours for those achievements. Also, by now, you should have both the Beam Saber and the Flamethrower unlocked, make sure to pick those up.

Step 3.2: Playthrough 3/4 (UFO ending)
This one must be done in Extra New Game. Use Heather Beam to kill at least 30 enemies before reaching your apartment. The game will end here, giving you the UFO ending achievement. If you hadn't already, this will also fulfill the requirements for less than 3 saves and less than 3 hours.

Step 4: Mop Up:
Go for any achievements you possibly missed.

Conclusion:
Silent Hill 2 and 3 require a lot of playthroughs, but luckily the story can be easily completed in under 3 hours. Most of these achievements are pretty easy, with one exception. This HD Collection has a few technical issues, but is still playable nonetheless

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/+6LpaA==.jpgOverkill
Acquire the Chainsaw. 15:gsicon:

You get this on any playthrough after the first. You will hear this before you see it. It is in a log along the road to Silent Hill at the beginning. You have to walk past it, so it is hard to miss.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/+YPg3Q==.jpgWho Needs a Gun?
Acquire the Green Hyper Spray 25:gsicon:

This is by far the most difficult achievement in this collection. To get the achievement, you have to finish a playthrough with a 10* rating at the end. The requirements to get this are:

Action level - Hard
Riddle level- Hard/Extra
Endings - All 7
Saves - 2
Time - Under 3 hours
Walking distance - doesn't matter
Running distance - doesn't matter
Items- over 150

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/+GMYTg==.jpgPlaying on the Edge
Complete SH2 with 2 saves or less. 30:gsicon:

Just as the description says. My saves of choice are at the beginning of the Hospital and right before the fight against Eddie at the end of the labyrinth.

Note if you die or soft reset and hit continue, that counts as a save during the result screen. So if you do either, it may be better to just hit load unless you plan on removing one of your possible saves.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/-cHztw==.jpgKeep Your Distance
Defeat at least 75 enemies by shooting in SH2. 15:gsicon:

To get this achievement, you have to finish off 75 enemies with a firearm. You can either shoot the enemy until it falls to the ground, then keep shooting, or you can get it to the ground with a melee weapon and finish them off with a gun. No matter how it gets on the ground, as long as you finish it off with a gun, you get your shooting kill.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/-CELJA==.jpgMelee Master
Defeat at least 75 enemies by fighting in SH2. 15:gsicon:

To get this achievement, you must be using a melee weapon when you knock the enemy to the ground. Then, just step the enemy by pressing the :abut: to kill them. You have to do this for 75 enemies.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/-gACkQ==.jpgKeen Eye
Find at least 150 items + extra items in SH2. 15:gsicon:

This is something that you should get on your first time playing the game if you like exploring, even a little. James will look at any item that needs to be picked up, so pay attention to what he is looking at. You will get the achievement right when you pick up your 150th item.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-jgd-I=.jpgDon't Keep Her Waiting
Complete Boat Stage in less than 1 min 20 seconds. 15:gsicon:

If you are playing on Easy/Medium, all you need to do is angle yourself with LEFT/RIGHT so you can see the light straight ahead. Now, you simply hold forward.

If you are playing on hard, you have to move the left analog stick in a counterclockwise movement while moving the right analog stick in a clockwise movement at the same speed.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-kAj2E=.jpgHard to Hit
Receive less than 500 points of damage in one game, in SH2. 20:gsicon:

To get this achievement, simply learn the patterns of the enemies and don't let them touch you. This is easy to do on Easy difficulty and when getting the UFO or Dog ending. Also, use guns a lot.

You can get this once you get the "Say Your Prayers" achievement. The key is in a dog house directly across from the exit of the Rosewater Park after getting Maria.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-pYh4g=.jpgWe're Not Alone
Acquire the Blue Gem. 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-u4fxs=.jpgTime to Roll the Credits
Unlock all achievements in SH3 50:gsicon:

This is unlocked once you get the other 21 achievements for SH3.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-mZdq4=.jpgI'm Normal I promise
Unlock the "Normal" ending. 10:gsicon:

This is the general ending. If you play through the game avoiding damage, you will get this ending.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-ryR1s=.jpgIt Was All in Your Head
Unlock the "Possessed" ending. 15:gsicon:

To get this ending, you need to rack up 4000 "points" and to get these points you have to kill enemies and take damage.
-For every enemy you kill, you get 10 points
-You damage count at the end has a 1/1 ratio for points, so 100 damage is 100 points. You want 1000+ damage.
-After listening to the woman's confession in the church, answer "I forgive you" to get 1000 points. The confession stand is hard to miss, as you pick up the map right next to the door. It looks like a photo booth.

So, taking away 1000 points from that count, that leaves 3000. Do this achievement on Easy or Normal so you can easily kill enemies and keep track of your health easier. If you kill everything in the game, you will get around 200 kills, taking another 2000 points off of that full score, leaving ~1000, which will be gotten from taking damage. All you need to do is stand in front of the final boss and let it whack away at your health over and over as you heal. Once you start running low on healing items, just finish it off to get the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-sSv8g=.jpgCoolest. Dad. Ever.
Unlock the "UFO" ending. 25:gsicon:

Coolest. Ending. Ever. Also known as the "Revenge" ending in the results screen. To get it, you first need to have cumulatively killed 333 enemies between your save files, unlocking the Heather Beam. If you have beaten the game on Extra Mode, you would have unlocked the "Princess Heart" item, which when equipped, makes Heather Beam do more damage (the new beam being called "Sexy Beam")

The objective of this ending is to kill at least 30 enemies with Heather/Sexy Beam before you reach Heather's apartment. To use Heather/Sexy Beam, make sure your weapons are unequipped, then attack as you normally would, holding down the button this time. Pressing forward does a different attack than just standing still, so experiment to find which one you like better. Now, simply play through the game like normal, just killing 30 enemies. Once you reach the apartment, the game will end right.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-jTTu4=.jpgAdrenaline Junkie
Complete SH3 in 3 hours or less. 25:gsicon:

Same as Silent Hill 2, all you need to do is rush through the game. Since Silent Hill 3 is shorter than Silent Hill 2, this one shouldn't pose a problem.

Can be done during UFO playthrough.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-1xpRc=.jpgWall Basher
Acquire the Silencer. 20:gsicon:

In the Hilltop Center, in the part under construction, you will enter a room with a mattress that you toss down to the next floor. Before jumping down the whole, there is a section of wall lighter than the rest that can be pounded open by a melee weapon. This section is to your left when looking at the door.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-yRXYQ=.jpgThere's a New Sheriff in Town
Acquire the Beam Saber 40:gsicon:

You can only get this during Extra New Game, which is unlocked after beating the game once. To be eligible to get this weapon, you have to previously beaten the game killing more enemies with melee weapons than guns. In the hallway where you come in contact with the first enemy while you are controlling Heather, there is a door at the very end of the hallway that is missing a doorknob. Instead, the Beam Saber will be there to pick up.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-6wVDE=.jpgFlame On
Acquire the Flamethrower 40:gsicon:

Again, you can only get this during Extra New Game. To be eligible for this one, you need to have previously beaten the game by killing more enemies with guns than melee weapons. This one is also in the Mall in the bakery on the counter. Simply pick it up.

Alternate way: After beating the game twice, the flamethrower will become available even if you didn't kill more enemies with guns than melee.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-9QrKI=.jpgWhat the Hill Just Happened?
Acquire the Gold and Silver pipes. 40:gsicon:

During an Extra New Game, when in the sewers, you come to the room with the Sewer Monster. Kill it, then toss the pipe into the water by looking at the water and pressing the :abut: (DONT FALL IN!) and a strange scene happens. You want to answer the questions: No, No, Yes. Then you will receive the gold and silver pipe and the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-2XQD8=.jpgMakes My Head Hurt
Complete SH3 with 2 saves or less. 30:gsicon:

Just as the description says. My suggested save Points: Either before the Missionary fight (~1/2 through the game) or after it once you get to Silent Hill. The 2nd save can be used whenever you feel like taking a break.

Can be done with UFO ending.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-4prf4=.jpgIf Looks Could Kill
Unlock the Heather Beam 25:gsicon:

Throughout your playthroughs, accumulate 333 kills, and this achievement will unlock at the result screen along with Heather Beam. If you don't get it in that playthrough, you will have to do another.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-wIpEs=.jpgWhere's Luna?
Unlock the "Princess Heart" costume. 25:gsicon:

This is gotten for beating the game on Extra New Game, so a minimum of 2 playthroughs. To unlock the achievement early, enter the code listed below. This will give you the costume and the achievement.

Code: PrincessHeart

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/2173/5-3oXNg=.jpgHeather's Got a Gun
Acquire the Unlimited Submachine Gun 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif

This one is actually a little more challenging than the rest. When fighting the final boss, you need to kill Her with a melee weapon instead of a gun. I use the Katana because it is fast and powerful. After dealing a ton of damage to the boss, start attacking with the melee weapon of choice only, to make sure you get the kill with it.

Once you have met the unlock condition, start an Extra New Game and go to the left (Heather's left) once you jump out the bathroom window in the beginning. The gun is sitting on the boxes.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-hKtyE=.jpgPest Control
Defeat Split Worm in under 2 minutes. 15:gsicon:

This is extremely easy if you aren't playing on Hard. Just shoot him when he shows his face, and the fight will be over fast. If you can't seem to kill him in time, either play on easy or simply wait until you have the Unlimited Submachine Gun.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-mqT7I=.jpgEye For an Eye
Defeat Missionary in under 2 minutes. 15:gsicon:

On Easy, the strategy is simply to blows hundreds of holes into him with the shotgun. On normal, I believe the Katana works well against him as opposed to firearms. If you can't seem to kill him in under 2 minutes, either play on easy or get the Unlimited Submachine Gun.

Another way to kill him, which seems easier. Just when he is about to attack you, run around to his back and shoot him with your shotgun. The blocking strategy works as well, which I explained in the Memory of Alessa achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-uLRgc=.jpgA Time to Kill
Defeat Leonard in under 3 minutes. 15:gsicon:

This fight is obnoxious because Leonard keeps going underwater. My strategy was to shotgun him when he stood up, and either hack away with the Katana while he was down, or shoot some more shotgun shells into him. Again, the Unlimited Submachine Gun saves the day again if needed.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-x9vhk=.jpgLost Memory
Defeat Memory of Alessa in under 3 minutes. 15:gsicon:

This fight can be annoying since Alessa likes blocking. In this fight, learn to utilize the block function. To do this, Press :rtbut: and :xbut: to do a block. Blocking leaves an opening in Alessa so you have hit her more easily. Another way of getting past her guard easily is by letter her hit you.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-2dRoo=.jpgBlasphemy
Defeat God in under 8 minutes. 15:gsicon:

If done on easy, this is a very simple and straight forward fight. Simply shoot her with whatever shotgun ammo you have left, along with all submachine gun ammo. Once those are empty, use the Katana to your advantage as well. Shooting Her with a handgun while she is standing makes Her bend over to allow you to hit Her in the face.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-+8Tz8=.jpgThis isn't an FPS!
Defeat at least 75 enemies by shooting in SH3. 15:gisicon:

This is much easier than SH2, since enemies can actual die from the bullets rather than just falling to the ground and wiggling. For this achievement, just shoot everything except Closers (really tall with mallet sized arms) as they take a lot to kill. Insane Cancer (fat blob type enemy) should be avoided as well.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-5ct6w=.jpgThey Look Like Monsters to You?
Defeat at least 75 enemies by shooting in SH3. 15:gsicon:

I don't suggest fighting anything with melee until you get the pipe. At that time, take on every Numb Body (achievement picture) with the pipe. Once you get the katana from the Hilltop Center, this achievement becomes really easy.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-v+XFU=.jpgHoarder
Pick up at least 100 items in SH3. 15:gsicon:

This is extremely easy. I got this achievement before I got the the hospital. Like in SH2, pay attention to what Heather looks at, as it could possibly be something you can pick up.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2173/5-oepMY=.jpgNinja
Receive 500 or less points of damage in one game, in SH3

Again, easily done on Easy difficulty. Just keep your distance and shoot the enemies. There seems to be no way to avoid those crawling enemies, so I suggest killing them as soon as possible. A few good swings from the katana does the trick. As for the rest, they are generally easy to avoid. As for those flying/flipping guys named pendulums, don't shoot them because they react by charging at you. So just skip those altogether.

This can be done on your UFO playthrough, meaning you would only have to play half the game while worrying about taking only 500 points of damage.

It doesn't really matter where you save it, as long as you hit new game while the previous one was loaded so the new game will have the save data from the old game in it. If that makes any sense :p

For Silent Hill 2, if you shoot them to the ground and then stomp them it counts as a gun kill, I actually received my achievement after a stomping. Then on my second playthrough I counted the gun kills with stomps and it added up.

Also in Silent Hill 3 "Eye for an Eye" achievement, if you get close wait until Missionary attacks you can just run around behind him a blast him with the shotgun, repeat a few times and hes dead.

multiple playthroughs doesn't mean its harder. and there's video guides to follow routines of course and both games aren't as long as people make out to be :) regardless of multiple playthroughs, lets not forget about the bullet adjust we could benefit for more ammo to pick up on hard for the overpower guns to breeze thru sh2 to fasten the pace. and you can play sh3 on the easiest difficulty to unlock all cheevos so the games overall difficulty scales up to 5/10 while homecoming will always be the easiest ;) due to the use of the laser gun.

Defeat at least 75 enemies by shooting in SH2. 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif

You need to kill 75 enemies by shooting. An easy way to get this, you can shoot an enemy until it drops to the ground, then stomp on it. This still counts as kills with guns.

Thank Tha Mantis for this confirmation!

Defeat at least 75 enemies by fighting in SH2. 15http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif

This achievement is really simple. Just step on every enemy that is on the ground by pressing the http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/a.png to kill them, and these add to your fighting kills. Just get 75 and you get the achievement.

at 1st i thought getting star 10 was going to be as horrible as people say when i 1st saw the req that time n did it on the ps2 ver. it really isn't too shabby, and the only hard parts are the gothic brokehaven hospital escorting maria til the end and boat part but that's where you'll be using those two saves in case you feel you messed up. there's a platora of items and ammo to stack up esp when u set bullet adjust 3x. besides ur going to skip out on the two pyramid head boses and maria as your going for the dog ending when u 1st arrive at the hotel, so we're all good ;) now if we had to go thru all this trouble at the end i would understand why this is the most difficult achievement but it turns out we shouldnt jump to conclusions and judge a book by its cover.

That is why I am thinking of raising the difficulty of this game. I have never attempted a 10* run before, but I assume the most difficult part will be to avoid taking more than 500 points of damage. As for the kills and items part, they almost go hand in hand because you need to pick up a whole ton worth of ammo to get those needed shooting kills.

Good Luck to anyone going for that achievement!

This is gotten for beating the game on Extra New Game, so a minimum of 2 playthroughs. There is a code for unlocking it early, but I don't recommend using it, as it is unknown how it affects the achievements.

The code works fine and unlocks the achievement. (The code is 'PrincessHeart'.)

Also, you can unlock things like Ninja and Adrenaline Junkie through the UFO ending.

Yep. The only penalty to using those weapons is that you can't get a 10* run. But since there isn't an achievement for getting 10*, I didn't mention it. But yes, use the Unlimited Submachine Gun for the shooting kills if you didn't get it in your first playthrough, since you have to get 75+ anyway for the possessed ending, and what better way is there than shooting them will unlimited bullets?:)

In SH2, shooting an enemy to the ground and killing it by stomping it DOES NOT count as a gun kill. I verified this myself, using this method to try to get my gun kills. By the end of the game, I got the melee kill achievement, and on my results, I had significantly more melee kills than gun kills, despite using nothing but guns the entire game.

As for the person that claimed stomps after downing an enemy using a gun counts as a gun kill, my guess is that they were playing on a lower difficulty, as most of the time on lower difficulties, enemies will die by the shotgun before they even go down. He probably just stomped them after they were already dead.

I'd give the Green Hyper Spray achievement a 7.5-8/10. It's tough and you have no way of knowing your damage at either your first or last save, therefore if you are over your damage limit once you beat the game, you won't know if you have to restart completely or just at your first save point. I restarted sooooo many times because I'd get ambushed or sprayed or something stupid. Not fun or easy. You can be hit by something dumb at any time. So it takes a ton of skill and luck. I will never try anything remotely like this achievement again. I've played some tough games and this one achievement defiantly is top 3 hardest for me.

For me, if I'm playing below hard, I don't even need to worry about saving. Just put it on beginner/easy and blast through the entire game extremely quickly (as you should remember where to go). If I'm playing on beginner/easy, I can absolutely blast through this game in under 90 minutes.

If you're playing on hard, this is how I divide my 2 saves:

1st save: near the end of the hospital, AKA save on the 3rd floor of the larger stairwell of the alternate hospital after you've acquired both rings, but before using them. You should go back near the save point to get the trick or treat box anyways. That way if you screw up the pyramid head sequence in the basement, you don't have to start too far back.

2nd save: just before the fight with Eddie. This is in the room at the exit of the labyrinth, with the 3 dug out graves, one of which being open for you to jump down. Make sure to save before jumping down, as Eddie is (for me) quite difficult on Hard.

If you don't have 2 hours at a time to sit and play a game, even on a lower difficulty, use the two saves I listed above. As far as I know, that's the two saves pretty much everybody uses in their 10* runs (with possible slight variations) I know you asked for a video walkthrough, but hopefully the heavier detail I gave is enough for you to get your achievement. :woop:

Also, hitting "continue" in the main menu counts as a save in your results screen, and that's the number the game goes by. If you only saved twice, continued once, and didn't get the achievement, that's the reason why. Simply hit "load" instead if for any reason you have to go to the main menu.

After beating a playthrough, save the results page when given the option. Next time you hit new game, make sure the results page is loaded, as in, when you hit continue, you see a results page. That way the files will add onto each other (which is necessary)

I am confused on this. So I save my game, load the results screen then start a new game? Do I overwrite my results save or keep it?

Ceris
03-27-2012, 04:45 PM
Since there seems to be some confusion, I added a little bit more explanation to the guide. Basically, it doesn't matter where you save your results, as long as they are saved, you can continue on. If you don't care about easily viewing endings, I suggest just saving the results over your main file.

Say, you saved your results on slot 2 and kept slot 1 save file there. If something happened and your save slot 1 is loaded (no results page) then you hit new game, the game won't register you got that ending and it won't be in the next result screen. (if it was your 2nd playthrough, and you didn't have the old results loaded, it will say you have gotten only 1 ending)

I hope that helps. I am sorry for being an inadequate guide writer :(

Still a little confusing. So I save a results file after beating the game. Load that results save file, and then pick 'New Game' and it registers the first ending I got once I beat it again? The way you're saying it, it seems that the results page is supposed to show up every time I load up my new game file.

What I got from how Ceris explained it to me is as long as you have the results screen saved so for example a file for each playthrough it does not matter where you save the game as long as the results are saved.

Example:
1. Results Screen
2. New Save File (When you beat the game save the results on this file and just move down to the next save file and repeat).

Hopefully that's a correct interpretation since that's what I'm doing basically. Also Ceris it's not that your a bad guide writer your just trying to explain something that's just confusing to begin with.

Simply beat the game and save the results screen. That's all you need to do. You dont need to load the results screen, but that's a good way to check and make sure the game has all of your data. When you start a new game, save to a new slot.

Bobo

i may be being over-cautious here, but this method has worked for me with little confusion.

the first time i beat the game, i saved the end results into slot 20(just so i don't accidentally overwrite it or anything). Just to be safe, i usually go to load and load up that save slot again, but i don't think that's necessary unless you have turned off your xbox or left to dashboard, and it might not be necessary at all. after loading slot 20, i select new game, main story, and then play the game for whatever new ending i'm trying to get. while in the middle of any game, if you quit or turn off your xbox, you can just hit continue to carry on. at the end of game 2, i save the end results over my slot 20, go to load and load slot 20 again because i'm paranoid, select new game, play through, etc.

i always save the end results into slot 20, and each time u get a new ending it should be adding to the results screen endings statistic (right now i have 4(+2) because i have the 4 main endings plus 2 of the extras)

maybe that helps. i'm sure there are some unnecessary steps in there so don't freak out if u didn't do it this way. just keep an eye on your ending statistics to make sure it's accumulating all the endings on one save file.

The problem is if for whatever reason, you file isn't loaded, the game won't connect them and add to your endings. That is the reason why I recommend loading the results. Like you said, this really only applies if you get off the game.

Yeah, as soon as I got Maria I switched to pistol, shot to them twice (playing on Easy) & finished them off with kick - it didn't count towards firearm kill stat, but rather melee kill. Got over 150+ melee kills but only 10+ firearm kills :P

Probably something worth mentioning in Silent Hill 3 if you unlock beginner mode after so many deaths or consecutive deaths you can enable it and still get achievements as well. So things like beating bosses in a certain time limit becomes even easier. I imagine it also helps with several other achievements as well like the speedrun achievement and the beat the game in 2 or less saves achievement. The melee achievement and weapons achievement would probably be made easier as well.

Update: Just heard that 2 has beginner's mode as well so I imagine that would help a lot as well.

But when I look at my latest results after getting the 'Dog' ending as my last one, I am still displaying as 4/4 (+2). Does this mean I'm missing an ending I haven't somehow saved, or does the other scenario not show up in the totals?

Am about to start my 10* run so would be nice to know before I go for it.

*edit* Re-ran the dog ending and now I've got +3 finally! Must have failed to save. Well here goes, 10* time...

Ever hear of constructive criticism? And if it's the "shittiest achievement guide" that means you can do better, so why not go ahead? I did this in my free time.

He may have simply been trolling. Definitely a useless comment on his part.

Thanks for the heads up but the reason I never submitted this guide was because I felt it wasn't up to a standard this site deserves and I didn't have patience to finish it. I typed it up as a rough guideline for people:)

I don't know if this has been mentioned but like the original SH3, you can actually get all 3 bonus weapons in 1 playthrough. Play your first playthough with mainly melee. Simply save in alessas room before the tarot cards then go finish the game in melee. This will give you the smg and saber beam. Then reload you save and compete again. It recognises 2 finished so gives you the flamethrower. In your first new game + you can get all 3 and finish it without worry about how you kill things.

This does not count as a new game + though so still have to finish a new game+ for possessed and heather beam.

I think it is important to note that the sh3 possessed ending can only be gained in new game +.

About the Overkill Achievement : I can't find it. I have start to play SH2 and have check youtube videos where i can find it but it isn't in this place. Is the chainsaw just available to get when i finished SH2 at once and play it on the 2nd time? ... Sorry for my bad grammar, i am from Finland ;-)

I would love to get 1000 GS on that game because i played already the original version on PC some years ago. And btw - thanks for the great guide! It's the best guide i could find on google

All of the special weapons in both games are only available in new game+ (playthrough 2 or above). Even then, some of them, especially in sh3 require specific endings/stats to get them but these are all clearly covered in the guide.

In sh3 it is possible to get all the special weapons on a single(ish) playthrough by reloading saves but it does not count towards consecutive playthroughs therefore you still need 2 full plays to then get the alien ending.
