View Full Version : Anyone else like this game?

I am - gasp - enjoying this game more than Oblivion, which I only played for the points. Enchanted Arms is one that I'm playing because it's fun. Especially when you boost your stats using the casino. :)

08-24-2007, 09:37 PM
I too enjoyed playing Enchanted Arms. Even though it wasn't the best RPG out there, it was all xbox 360 had to offer. I was craving a classic turn based RPG when I played this game so I liked it.

08-24-2007, 09:47 PM
Despite bad reviews from critics, I too enjoyed this game. It was undeniably quirky.

I enjoyed this game the first time through, but it just didn't have the draw to play through again. Wreckon hates this game though, don't even bring it up with him. ;)

Not so loud...you'll summon a wrath upon us!

Sorry, I HATED this game. I wish I could evoke what the might Dracgon likes about this game, but I can't....but then I'm only mortal.

08-24-2007, 11:28 PM
Although I wouldn't say you could compare it to Oblivion (the style of play was too different), I did enjoy Enchanted Arms a lot more. I've always been a huge fan of Japanese RPGs though since the days of Chrono Trigger etc.

08-25-2007, 09:18 PM
I like the game, not a lot, but I like it. It's nice to have a game like this on the 360, but a lot of times I feel like I've played it before. Overall, if someone is looking for a nice, turn-based RPG, they really can't go wrong with this one. Just my opinion though.

08-25-2007, 09:57 PM
ahhh I cant stand this game... the story line so far is so boring and dumb (57% done) (500gamerpoints) I don't like the point of the arm be all magic and stuff plus I don't like the fighting style where you have to move your guys around and stuff. but other then that its a ok game lolol

08-27-2007, 08:41 AM
I liked this game but was hard for me to get into it at the beginning. Not sure if it was the guy dude or what. Either way I finished it and was pleased with the outcome. Nice FMV's throughout. I enjoyed this more than Phantasy Star Universe but not as much as Oblivion.

08-27-2007, 12:04 PM
I agree with that. Seemed like they whined just a little bit more in PSU.

08-27-2007, 04:09 PM
I enjoyed this game very much...with the help of Wreckon this game was a breeze, but besides it was still tons of fun...I am a big fan of RPG's(especially final fantasy) and this game is the best RPG thusfar on the console in my opinion, although I haven't played Two Worlds yet so my opinion may change...

09-04-2007, 05:39 PM
by the way getting the points on oblivion will take about 80-100 hours of game time

I think its an awesome game, my only problem with it is that Mystery Man never joined your party to save Toya. I think Eternal Sonata will be alot better than this though, not long now until release...

09-12-2007, 11:17 AM
I had to get about 40% through the game before I actually started liking it, but yeah, it wasn't bad.

*looks for incoming Wrath* .... I thought the COGS killed all those things.

I've apparently been too busy with Two Worlds to check in on my favorite thread. Enchanted Arms is an awesome game and behind Gears is easily my favorite game on 360. There is just nothing and I mean nothing better than a good Golem Battle.

I had a Golem Battle a week or so ago that lasted for 45 minutes... it was a thing of beauty... an epic battle where many a cures, and poisons, and gravity skills were casted... there was healing and attacking, and changing of alignments, and power boosting... and in the end an nice big CHECK MATE from the Executor... what more could you want in a game.

Anyone up for a Golem Battle :)

09-17-2007, 07:18 PM
I thought this game was excellent.

09-18-2007, 07:29 PM
Just found a little time to start this game and I have to say it is pretty underrated.

The Queen of Ice is beautifully designed and one of my favorite villain characters from recent games, oh and I just love the cutscenes, from what I have seen so far (just short after the queen broke free).

Thumbs up for this game :)

09-18-2007, 08:45 PM
it's was alright but it got kinda repetitive....

11-05-2007, 08:27 PM
i liked the game. i'm gonna have to rent it again to finish it.

lol this is kinda old but the reviews of this game turned mee off of getting it but i probably will once i hear better reviews

11-06-2007, 12:26 AM
this is a good game IMO

11-08-2007, 02:17 AM
I wasn't expecting much from this game from listening to reviews, but i'm glad I bought it.

One of the better experiences i've had on the 360 so far.

its a good game, but a 'complete and trade' for me :uzi:

I like turn-based RPG's too don't get me wrong. However, having said that I will say Oblivion is the best RPG of any type I have ever played. When my roomate first showed me the game one afternoon, I ended up playing the game all night and the whole next day!! My roomate had to finally unplug my Xbox360 to make me go to sleep lol.

It's no wonder of course I have yet to get all 1,250 points in the game but I got the whole game package (SI and Knights of Nine) for Christmas :woop:.

I have not played it long, but so far, I'm enjoying it very much. I hope I continue to do so.

I've only rented it out, I have to take it back by Saturday (It's Thursday) I'd better hurry up and complete it!

Just started on this the other day, but so far it's not too bad. The only complaint I have is all the text dialog.

01-04-2008, 09:38 PM
I really enjoyed it actually. It was just a fun RPG to pick up and play casually. Not to mention you don't have to worry about the achievements to much because you get all of them by just progressing throughout the game. I highly recommend looking up the roulette money trick. It makes the game so much more fun.

01-05-2008, 07:42 PM
after the beginning it got better, but did they have to make the one character so steroetipcal gay? dont get me wrong whatever choices people make are its thier choice to make, but i think the deveoperers went a little overboard.

01-06-2008, 06:47 AM
I'm a big RPG fan and I can remember almost picking this game up a few times when it was first released, but something told me to wait until it was cheaper. Although I did enjoy playing the game through, it won't leave a lasting effect on me, and I've certainly played much better RPG's. I'm glad I got it for 25 bucks instead of 60.

01-06-2008, 11:21 AM
i found it very average with nothing that made it stand out. at least the achievements were straight forward and easy...

also i started to skip the dialogue about 25% into the game. i've never done this for an RPG before but i found the text so boring.

i.e three screens of:

...lame much?

This is by far one of my favorite games that i have played on the xbox 360. This game had a good solid story, great addictive gameplay, and sick moves and finishers. This game took me a little while to play through, but every minute i spent was well worth it.,\

01-17-2008, 06:07 AM
I got this game the first day it came out and i played the crap out of it till i beat it which took about five days or so, and i liked the game i don't think the best RPG but it was for sure good and had an ok with some fun game play. I do like the grid that you move the characters around to attack that made it a little unique not the first time i have seen that but all in all a game worth playing and a game i will be keeping (mainly because its an RPG)

01-17-2008, 06:09 AM
I watched my bro play it on his xbox for about 2 minutes, i walked away when i heard the gay guy talking about a special brunch or something like that.

I am - gasp - enjoying this game more than Oblivion, which I only played for the points. Enchanted Arms is one that I'm playing because it's fun. Especially when you boost your stats using the casino. :)

I am sorry, But all I can think of is "SACRILEGE!!!" I played this game for a while, and it was by far THE worst game I have ever experienced in my life, and I've seen some bad ones. The game play was terrible, The turn based fighting was mediocre at best, and the characters make me want to throw something. Oblivion was BY FAR better, at least a thousand times better.

No offense to those who liked this game.

02-06-2008, 07:29 PM
When I first bought this game I absolutely HATED it, I'm a big fan of RPGs but I just couldn't get into this one, then I broke my wrist and couldn't play fast-paced games for a while... So I was forced to play this turn based game and after a while I started to really enjoy it, and now it's one of my favourite games for the 360 :).

02-07-2008, 03:46 PM
I enjoy this game pretty much all around, mostly because i have always like RPGs and always will. Enjoy though i enjoy all genres of games, except simulation style sports game, i prefer the more aracade style, like street and what not.

02-17-2008, 02:47 AM
this game was fun and i got 1000!

02-22-2008, 06:00 PM
I enjoyed it when I rented it, but I'm glad I played it before Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey. Both are better, especially LO. I love almost all JRPGs though.

03-26-2008, 02:49 PM
I rented this after reading mixed reviews and i have to say its actually pretty fun. This of course is coming from a person who played and beat most of the final fantasy games on ps2 and 1. So its nice to have another rpg turn based game. Though i rented it i might just go out and buy it after i take it back.

04-01-2008, 06:39 AM
I like the game but theres a couple of things i dont:

- The Vit/Vp or whatever it is system. It makes all your chars. have 1 Hp and no Ep. It sucks and you cant do anything to level up. And the item that heals VP is 1,000 tb. Its too expensive and a waste of money because it only works on 1 character

- The terrible voice acting. eg. that gay mikado. His voice is hirendous.

04-01-2008, 09:23 AM
I don't mind this game actually.

There isn't much I can fault it with, beside perhaps the VIT system, which is kind of annoying when you can't take Atsuma out of your party... aside from that, the visuals are AMAZING!!

04-01-2008, 12:04 PM
Not normally a great fan of JRPGs but with so few others on offer on the Xbox picked this one up and was pleasantly surprised. Basic Fodder linear storyline with a good dash of humour (Got to love Raigar ;)) and some nice visuals. What just gives it that little extra are the online Golem battles, I found them to be great craic. Just raises it up enough to poke it's head out of the mire of average games out there in my opinion.

Im still enjoying this game...been through this game at least 5 times with 5 different gamertags. I cannot never get bored. Im leveling addict. :( One of best graphic in RPG catergory.

04-03-2008, 06:36 PM
I posted earlier about this when i first started playing and said i really enjoyed it. Now having played through most of it and seeing the extent of what it has to offer, theres only 2 things i can complain about. The VP system and the fact that there is entirely to many random encounters. Those 2 put together make trying t get to a certain area annoying. For instance traveling from London to Kyoto. Long distance and all of those enemies are far weaker than mine. But other than that complaint its still a great game in my opinion.

05-06-2008, 03:18 AM
i think i enjoyed the first half of this game. it got old after i put around 20 hours into it. :\

05-27-2008, 10:03 AM
Well yea i like it but honestly i dont like the battlem system much as i do like in LO,BD or ES. I just defeated Ice Queen ( first encounter ) and yea i had troubles.

06-18-2008, 09:44 AM
This game is one of my favorites on X360 ( with Halo3 and Oblivion)
Golems are awesome (A.P.O, Omega, Odin...) and graphics too (scecialy Atsuma's EX )
Only one thing is bad : cutscenes :(

08-20-2008, 11:24 AM
IMO this game is really good. Well, dont compared to final fantasy but anyway. before i started playing everybody told me that blue dragon and lost oddesey whas much better. Well, i just played those games for 3 hour or 4. they maybe got better after a while? i dont know but i think that enchanted arms are better than both of them

08-21-2008, 11:29 PM
Never been much of an RPG fan, but I like this game (more than Oblivion as well)

09-01-2008, 08:04 PM
Honestly the dialogue is something left unsaid... I mean I've played 2nd rate RPGs before but none with a dialogue this bad.

It's an ok game though.

09-25-2008, 08:14 PM
I like the lightheartedness of it. This game never really gets serious, and whenever it threatens to, Atsuma will ogle Karin's boobies or something.

:woop: (this for Karin's boobies):woop:

And after seeing the unbelievable ugliness of everyone in Oblivion, all the female models in this game are so frigging cute! :woop: (once again...):woop:

Although Yuki needs one of her pistols jammed down her throat; that's really one of the most annoying voices I've heard since the announcer on RRXX...:uzi:

At first I thought the combat system was stupid and simple, but pretty quickly I learned that it can be a lot like chess in a close fight: it's all about who moves first and where. I want to see this system used again in the future.

And honestly, where else can you get an RPG ending that's so disturbingly hilarious?

P.S. One last pervism: who can really blame Tokimune for his golem "companions?" ;) Kunoichi, mmmmm....

and Blood Fencer just reminds me of Paine from FFX-2... shame she's so useless in battle.

09-25-2008, 08:37 PM
I bought this because it was $14.99 and my PS3 needed some playing time. I never thought that I'd see the day, but I actually FELL ASLEEP playing a video game.

09-29-2008, 07:22 PM
Hell, I've fallen asleep playing DOA, Rumble Roses, Halo, Star Ocean, and Chrono Cross. What does that prove?

10-07-2008, 06:16 PM
i liked this game, I thought it had some of the funniest moments i've seen in a game

11-22-2008, 07:06 PM
I am - gasp - enjoying this game more than Oblivion, which I only played for the points. Enchanted Arms is one that I'm playing because it's fun. Especially when you boost your stats using the casino. :)

I missed playing it..
Its been a year, a friend loaned it to me coz we've been talking about it at work since..
loved the characters, the gameplay, the graphics, everything, except xbox live..
the most part i loved in the story mode part was when i got OMEGA after beating all element guardians..
beating all the seven boss battles was easy, using Omega's Near Death ability, which deacreases all their HP's at 1 and using anyone in my party to finish the fight off..
I totally enjoyed this game, a must have, and would recommend it to all of y'all..

11-26-2008, 12:30 AM
I liked the game, but the storyline was not the best in my opinion. He's a weapon due only to his arm, hmm far-fetched. Would have sounded better if HE had the power and not just his arm.

Overall I am a big fan though (Y) thumbs up i say

12-06-2008, 11:59 PM
I love the storyline it makes me wanta play it more to just find out the story great game :)

12-07-2008, 07:50 AM
i miss playing the game..
though i dont wanna purchase it again since the live gameplay sucks..
i'll wait for another one i guess..
i've never any storyline like this..

04-29-2009, 06:03 AM
i enjoy most of this game...except when i thought i had to play with every golem to get them from 0 FP to 999 FP...then i got frustrated because all i was doing was grinding...but i am now doing the side quests before i do the ice palace and i am once again enjoying it.

04-29-2009, 06:46 AM
Enjoy the game myself and a fan of jrpg games. Grinding is dull but more or less a must in this game.

Dark Infinity 1
05-26-2009, 09:23 PM
So I'm a couple years late to this thread... oh well. I just got the game. After playing for an hour or so I can't say much, but the battle system seems likable. The general acting and cometary from the characters leaves a bit to be desired. The graphics are still rather good even for being 2 years old.

My only question is this. What's up with Makoto? I get it he's gay and loves Toya, can we move on with the plot now?

General Rebel
05-28-2009, 03:45 AM
Good One DarkInfinity...it gets better, not in a gay way...more to come...did I say come?
Anyway, I didn't like this game at first but it gets kinda addicting. not the best RPG out there but worth the few bucks I paid for it used.

Just Got This Game Today 15$ Used,I Heard Its Good So I Hope It Is it Was Cheap lol

05-31-2009, 11:34 PM
Well, i for one am glad i didnt pay too much attention to the bad reviews.

This is a very enjoyable jRPG (though short), with a fresh enough story (not earth shattering but not cliché).

You just have to give it enough time to develop. The start is a little slow but it gets better.

I farmed every bit of storyline, even the acessory extra-difficult dungeons and im not sorry of the time spent.

Give it a shot if you like RPGs and/or have no new ones to play!
You wont be sorry!

06-02-2009, 01:19 AM
This game isn't too bad. I like the battle system in it, though its not that revolutionary. The dialogue is painful at times and none of the characters are very likable. I think this game deserves a 7/10 or so.
