Hey guys Powerman and I have been working really hard on bringing you an informative guide for Dragons Dogma, and weve been getting lots and lots of messages over XBL asking for help on pretty specific quests, as Im sure a couple others are as well. We dont mind helping out whatsoever, in fact, we encourage asking for help, but managing all the questions over XBL is becoming a hassle so we just ask that you post any questions about anything you have in this thread. You will get a much better answer and faster response and it will definitely reduce the amount of repeat questions. Thanks a ton

*cracks neck* Well this is handy indeed. I had some rather specific questions. First of all is the Abyssial Armor set the best armor in the game along with the 4 masks? I know quite a few helms have more defense but the status protection and added benefits seem to be great.

After that what is the best clothing and capes that you can get? On my warrior I have a Silver Coat and Silver Hosen but they look a tad... silly with the Abyssial Armor. I saw someone with Dragon Leather which seemed pretty good but I have no idea how I'd get it. Same with the Swordsman's Mantle no idea where to find that.

Finally I was wondering about Jewelry. I didn't make a fake copy of the Wyrmking Ring and it seems like a good piece for magic users. But what about warriors. They just seem to have status protection and the nails +10 Strength isn't a whole lot.

Thanks a lot for the info if you have any.

I think those are at least 3 in game days, but honestly I'd go with between 5 and 7 in game days. Just rest a lot really.

Respawntime for drake, chimaera, ogre etc. :)
Drakes takes a little longer to respawn that ogres and chimeras, about 2-3 days. Others usually take 1-2

@Sparda Ah thats a huge question. Its really all about how you want to play your character, with more defense than offense or you want more buffs and status protection. Ill look in the book and update in a little but keep in mind that each set of armor and weapons can go up to a potential 4 stars, and from 3 to 4 is a massive increase in stats. So you might think something you have is better but until you max both out you wont know

Sparda
05-30-2012, 08:17 PM
True, but looking at the base stats of both item is usually a good way to tell which will end up better.

Yea I thought that at first too but after looking at the guide, its really a toss up. Obviously most of the weapons you find earlier are not going to be as good as the ones in find in the Everfall and from loot drops from bosses.
Oh and as far jewelry, I literally never forged anything unless it was for a quest or something, because the forged item doesnt have any of the stats the original does, so its kind of pointless.

Oh yeah I know that, but you can hand in the fake WyrmKing Ring. So he can't open up the chest he wants to in the quest... but you can open it yourself since you have the real one. Kind of entertaining.

Really no need to farm if your early in the game because doing quests and board notices gives you lots of xp and money. Farming the smaller things will more than suffice

During the 'Land of Opportunity' quest, you're supposed to talk to the three tenants, and then get their consent. Once you get two of them, then you're supposed to find Jasper........................except that for some strange reason, I can't find him anywhere. I've been searching for the past 30 minutes, also going to the inn and sleeping to see if it would make him appear. Is this a bug?

If your facing the Inn in Gran Soren, He should be hanging out to the left of it by the path going down. Usually during the daytime. Look & wait around that area. He should show, That is where i found him in both playthroughs. Btw he is the Old looking Dude

I had that problem too. If you find the guy that gave you the quest in the Noble Quarter you can just buy the property from him for 80,000 gold. The people will be really happy. This is the best outcome to the quest from what I can tell. So I just did that.

There is one notice board quest for killing undead soldiers. You get 40 from doing this. That's how I did it. Other than that, you can find them in the Encampment by the innkeeper after sleeping there. There are usually about two in the sacks you can gather from. You can also find them scattered all over the world. Hope that helps.

It does, kind of. I already did that quest, but my genius brain decided to sell them all, thinking they weren't important. Guess I'll just keep sleeping and picking them up in the encampment.

So Im finally at the Everfall and have tried to face Ur Dragon a few time. Started at Generation 15, sleep, 17, sleep, now 19. Im getting POS drops from my "efforts and have a few questions.

1. What is a good group to fight Ur Dragon?

Im a Lvl 58 Mystic Knght v3 with my main as a Warrior v10, and I hire a Ranger v10 and Mage v10 with High Adoyne? Im doing more recoveries to the pawns then trying to fight the Ur Dragon.

2. IF or should I say when I die should I use a Wakestone? or Retry?

Ive used a Wakestone previously and die again shortly after since my Pawns (see above) are usually DBNO.

I had started a fight with the Ur Dragon and he was missing 2 dots and when I had died he was missing 3 dots and half life. But when I died I selected "Retry" and he was back to 2 dots and missing 9/10?

3. Is there a good time of day to fight Ur Dragon so I can actually get som decent loot drops?

Oh man I feel your pain. I've learned to keep everything I find in RPGs. In fact, I have a ton of dumb stuff in storage right now. Everything from buckets and rocks to skulls. Pro tip: Don't sell Seeker's Tokens. You need 20 of these for a quest, and they're hard to find without duping or forging. I assume you must need skulls for something since I finished a quest and got 60 of them as a reward.

The thing is I also go by the looks of an item. Bugles don't look very important, so I didn't care. However, the seeker tokens looked important, so I kept them lol, and did that quest.

I remember that about skulls, but they're really easy to find. Around gran soren, at night there's ton of skeleton enemies who can drop them.

Another question (I guess my luck sucks) the 'Escort Duty' quest isn't coming up. I've fulfilled all the requirements and it's not appearing. I guess I can just do some other quests, but I wanted to do them in order according to the other thread about the quests.

Just a quick question: Do augments carry over different vocations? I'm currently running with: Vigilance, Endurance, Dexterity, Fitness, Leg Strength and Fortitude, but I don't seem to be getting the effects of some of them (I did playthrough 1 as a strider, now going through as a fighter) such as dexterity or fitness.

Do they not stack over vocations, or am I just imagining that I'm not getting these bonuses?

No.

The game is programmed to make you wait.

If you want to throw your money away you can go find the Merchant in the Noble's Quarters and pay 80 000.00 for the land for them to live on.

Or you can come back to town after a day or 2 and you'll find Jasper in his usual spot speaking.

Then you talk to him, he begs moving expenses off you and you save 50 000.00 and you've been a "kind Arisen" because you still helped the poor people.

Guess you didn't read my whole post. I said that I was constantly sleeping at the inn, furthering the time in the game by many days and he never showed up. I slept at the inn around 7 to 8 times, which means the gametime advanced more than a day or 2, and once again, he never showed up. If it wasn't a bug, he definitely would've showed up in between one of those times I checked, and went back to the inn. The other two showed up with no problems, and jasper was in his spot the first time I spoke to him, before you're supposed to pay him off. Either way, I already said that I just paid off the 80,000.

Anyway, back to the topic. Has anyone else acquired the gold idol from the 'Escort Duty' quest? I did everything that you were supposed to do, and quickly, and still didn't get it.

A few questions

First of all with the Nameless Terror quest I can't seem to go any further. I've fought one guy at the quarry, another in the mountain pass but the guy near the bridge (I was told one was there) won't come out. Are the encounters random at night or specific. After the bridge I was also told that near the encampment and Casardis were the other locations. Are they meant to be done in order?

Also for the Thick as Thieves quest I can't talk to Ophis as she attack me. I wear lady's clothes and have 3 female pawns and never killed the cyclops. The other female bandits won't attack ne either until I reach Ophis. I did recall that a long while ago I attacked the camp and killed every one in it. Is there a way I can still complete it?

I hate doing this, but a couple more questions:

1. How do you enter the Catacombs? Apparently that's where the second journal entry is for Reynards quest, but I found two entrances and once leads to a locked door in there, and the other is blocked off by a big piece of wood. I'm pretty sure it's obvious, but I can't figure it out lol

2. Speaking of Reynard, it's been said that he goes away after you give him the journal entries. Well, there's also a notice board escort quest that has him as the escort. How would that be affected by this quest, or would doing it before giving him the journals affect that?

To enter the Catacombs go North of Gran Soren and to the West. You'll find a cave called the Catacombs. This is the proper entrance to the very large dungeon. You'll also get a quest from Maximillion to come here and investigate a cult.

You will keep any spell you have bought for both you & your pawnjupp, everything will be the same when switching back. And when going back to vocations you already used, it doesnt cost anything. In fact this Game encourages you to try out all the different vocations, because you also rank out very fast.

Capcom should have made an Achievement to max out every single one. ^^

I was actually finally able to track him down in Gran Soren last night and did the first 2 phases of the quest. Then I slept at the inn to see if maybe he would acknowledge I had done enough business with him to access the final part with the journal entries. (which I already have all of btw.) He vanished again. I'm not too worried though.

I'm positive this time it's because I haven't done any where near enough main story quests to do this part. Since he is important to the Trial and Tribulations main quest. And because he completely disappears from the game by design after receiving the journal entries. So it seems that you need to wait until you complete this main quest before handing them in. At least the quest guide recommends that.

I'm just going to advance with the other side quests and then the main quest. Hopefully when I get to this point it will all work out.

With the gold idol I know how to get it and everything. In fact here is a video if someone needs help with the quest.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pM-gnMIVcT0

My question is that the guy in the video recommends forging it at the Black Cat to hand in for a couple different quests. But from what I understood the forgeries made there lost all of their abilities and were only useful for a couple quests with very specific items. Otherwise you would get very bad side effects from trying to fool the NPCs. Is this true? I was hoping you would know the whole story on this item and how to use it since you are the go to source for info on this game.

On the subject of forgeries, could you list the ones that you're supposed to duplicate and what quests to use them in? I'm sure everyone would find this info very beneficial.

Thanks for any information you can provide. I appreciate all the work you've put into helping everyone. :)

I don't think forgeries are helpful apart from giving them to the pawns so people will be tricked in thinking they are the real items ;)

From the little test i ran for the gold idol giving caxton the forgery will not get you the extra stock only the real idol will.

The only thing I've seen even worth making forgery out of yet is the wyrmkings ring you lose the paladins mantle he would give you later on but it isn't a very big loss.

Theres honestly nothing worth forging. What forging is good for is quest items so you can share them with people. And even then, I dont know if thatll even work because sometimes when I give certain items to people, it goes through as a rock. So really forgery is just useless. Its good if you want to do all the quests over in following playthroughs, as you can just forge most of the quest items and hand them in right away without having to actually do the mission.

The wyrmking's ring is worth making a forgery of and handing in the fake and giving the real one to your magic user because it lowers casting time for whoever has it in their inventory.

Okay is there any consequences for handing in the forged ring besides losing the paladin's mantle? I read in another topic that you should make copies of some papers you have to turn in for a quest?

If that's the case about the gold idol then who is the best to give it too? How about the silver, bronze, and cursed idols?

In the video it recommends handing in the forged gold idol for the quests like Idol Worship and Supplier's Demand. Is that not the case?

It's not covered in the video but also remember reading that you needed a certain quest from Caxton to be active while doing the Escort Duty quest in order to get the idol instead of a golden egg. What's the name of that quest?

Sorry for the redundant questions. I really want to play the game right now. Unfortunately a storm is raging outside my house. And the last thing I want is to risk playing and a random power outage to corrupt my 1 and only save game with over 50 hours invested in it. :p

handing in a forged golden idol will complete the quest, but you will NOT get the same weapons as you would have if you handed in the real idol. Forged idols have a value less than bronze. So you wont even be getting the weapons you would have if you handed in the bronze statue. It will be worse

No you dont have to have any other quest from Caxton to get the golden idol

Madeliene has more magical weapons and armor, and more daggers and bows if you hand in the gold idol. Caxton has a huge variety if of armor, more so heavy armor and swords.

If you would've read my post, then you should've seen that I said that I was SLEEPING at the inn, meaning that when you do, it advances the time in the game. So if it's morning and I sleep till morning, then that's one day for gametime. I did it 7 or 8 times, meaning that the game would've definately advanced more than 1 to 2 days. I don't mind that the game has that in it, but after sleeping at the inn 7 to 8 times, he should've definitely shown up by then, because time advanced in the game by a lot. Gaming bugs aren't universal, and maybe it didn't happen to you, but that doesn't mean they can't happen, and guess what, since he never showed up after sleeping at the inn as many times as I did, I'm pretty sure it was a bug. Is it a big deal? No, because I give fournier the money, and it completed. Don't see what it's such a big deal.

Anyway, back to topic. Since Reynard is a factor is this trail quest that everyone is talking about, so I run around and try to find him now and complete 'Search Party' or should I wait until later? This is the last side quest according to the guide list on here before meeting the duke, and I would like to get as many as I can out of the way before I advance the 'story.'

BTW BloodGodAlucard, thanks for the link to that quest, and I didn't do anything different. However, I saw what I did not do. You have to talk to that girl and then she gives you the golden idol. That is not written on here or in the players guide, so I had no idea you had to do that. It's not like she had an indicator over her head or anything lol

Thanks Flip. So since I'm a Sorcerer and my main pawn is a Warrior I should probably give Caxton the gold idol and Madeline the silver while also getting her affinity to the max. Is that right? What does the cursed idol actually do? I can't imagine it's anything good since it's cursed.

Also a question about affinity. I heard that whoever you have the max affinity with will be considered your romance/sacrifice at the end of the game. If so how does it work with multiple people maxed out? Because I ended up getting Valmiro's to max by doing the Dying from Curiosity quest. I even got the achievement from it.

The thing is, I REALLY don't want to be in a romance with a guy. Even though as far as I've seen that doesn't even seem to be a real part of the game. Romance I mean. At least I haven't heard about any sort of "Bioware-esque" courtship activities. Just wanted to be sure. I remember reading another guys post that Caxton was the one he raised affinity with and had an awkward embrace from him at the end.

No problem I'm happy to help. And I think I will probably wait until I do the Trial quest to complete the one with Reynard personally. I really dont know how it works. I think it might be the first person you reach max affinity with. My buddy got max affinity with pretty much everyone in the game and at the end, the Inn keeper from gran soren met him at the end of the game, so now in his post game, he has no where to sleep in gran soren because the in keeper is at his house now. kind of funny.

Yeah that is kind of funny. If that's the case then looks like I'll be "embracing" Valmiro at the end of the game. Damn. :P I had hoped to get either Madeleine or the Duke's wife. I think it's his wife. The blond woman from some of the previews that makes fun of the weird hat the Arisen was wearing. Even Selene seemed pretty cool. Yeah I'm trying to finish up one right now called A Lost Cause. And it lives up to the name. You have to find a snakeskin purse. It's a really rare drop that you get from farming Sulfur Saurians. I've tried this quest for a couple hours with no luck. This quest really has that JRPG feeling to it. With the whole grinding and hoping not to get screwed by the RNG. (Random Number Generator that sets up the odds of in game item drops.)

Thanks for the tip BloodyVanish. I haven't been able to explore that location yet since you need a quest to get in there I believe. Hopefully I'll get it there. I also heard you can get on in Soulflayer Canyon. But I scoured that place for about 2 hours searching every area and didn't see it. Then again, I do remember it saying that it was in a pool of fish. I probably overlooked it. But if you found it twice in the Blighted Manse sewers then I'll just wait until I get to that point in the game instead of grinding for it.

Good point Celtic. It's not like the time was wasted. I did level up a couple times. :)

I've been unable to find a suitable answer for this anywhere on the net. However, I did come across an idea that it was perhaps a trigger glitch. In that, if you travelled to Heavenspeak Fort and opened the gate (likely killing Orphis in the process?) -- it will remain glitched until a future NG+. I'm currently needing Thick as Thieves for the meta, The Hero. Kind of a bummer, but frankly I'm so fond of this game, it's flaws are easily overlooked.

EDIT: For the record, I am attempting this on my first NG+. I had travelled there and killed the female bandits prior to feeding the Cyclops. I initially fed him in drag as my character was male, noticed Orphis was hostile in spite of being told to talk to her -- so I exited the game without saving, changed my character to a female (via the permanent Scroll of Meta.). Same results, I'm afraid. I'm going to go and kill the Cyclops and see if that will open another option for completing Thick as Thieves.

EDIT (pt. 2): No, it does not -- you will fail the quest. I'm afraid the trigger glitch is as previously described. I'll have to be more mindful of my steps in the second NG+.

If I read somewhere correctly you can only go down there once you beat the game correct or wrong. Also do people sell things down in there or what.

I've been to the black cat hoping to find good armor and clothes and stuff but have came up empty. About when will the black cat or caxton will have good items. I am currently level 27 I believe.

Also when will smithy become available to have him craft things for you.

I am currently walking around with pieced together armor and clothes me and my pawn. We look like a circus walking around.

Also is there a map somewhere that shows the shops locations cause most dont pop up on mp until you have entered it. I randomly walked in a building and found out it was the barber.

Like the Ancient Quarry read there is a merchant there that sells good things. Where is this located. Awwwwwwwww so confused.

You can enter the Everfall shortly after entering Gran Soren. Though you only have access to the majority of it in post game. There are merchants in post game. 3 I believe?

The Black Cat only sells rare items that are either DLC or weapons and armor that you've sold already. They also carry rare items that you will need for quests later.

Caxton and the other merchants get progressively better equipment as you advance the main quest. Later you will get a quest to give him (or any merchant of your choice) a golden, silver, bronze, and cursed idol. Based on who you give each one to and their affinity for you, they will have new stuff available for purchase.

There is no proper crafting in this game in regards to weapons and armor. You can combine items into other items but it's mostly for curatives and materials. You can use materials to enhance your weapons and armor though.

The map only updates with shop locations after you've discovered them I think. The Ancient Quarry is located west of Gran Soren. The merchant there does sell some good items for early on in the game. But you have to complete a quest and clear the Ogres and other monsters out before he will show up.

Wow that was a lot of questions in a short period of time. :P Hope you find this info helpful.

I entered the everfall I take it and went all the way to the bottom, but then these tentacles came out and me and my people had to run out of there, but I believe the gate is locked now or am I in the wrong spot. Its in there with the pawn guild right.

Ancientquarry is it located inside Gran Soren to the west or outside. Like If I leave the main gate of Gran Soren and I standing on the bridge do I take a left or right and how far do I walk in either direction.

Sorry for trying to get technical with this, but I want to get from point A to B without a hitch.

No problem. I like to get specifics down too. I'm honestly not sure if the gate to the Everfall locks itself after the tentacle monster or not. I just did that part last night. I've been delaying advancing the story to do side stuff.

As for the Quarry location. I'll post a link to a map. You can also find a good map in the Achievements guide if you're curious. The one on the wiki I'll link isn't that useful since it's so zoomed out. But here it is anyway.

http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Gransys

Here's the map from the achievement guide. You'll want to go to location 10 on this map.

Anyone know how to copy like pages from a book and put them online? I know a scanner would work put im looking for something a little more high quality. Cause that wiki page image is just from the guide book

If I am not mistaken you cant scan pages from a guide book and post them here. I guess cause we don't have the publisher permission to use the images.

I could be wrong though.

Thanks for all the answers.

Last question: SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in catacombs and I have the decision to kill the leader or let him go. Do I gain anything special for doing either.

I've got an "Audience With The Duke".

I've been told to "tie up any loose ends" before I see him.

Does this mean I need to finish EVERY side quest in the game or just make sure I've completed all the Wyrm Hunt tasks?

Thanks in advance.

If you're going for "The Hero," I'd check the thread that outlines when and where the quests were done. But after I chose to meet with the Duke (both times), all of my board and side-quests were still available. After you choose to fight [spoiler?] [the red dragon] though, I noticed many of the quests -- including the one for bringing the journal pages to the traveling merchant, had failed.

EDIT: Pretty sure you'd want to do all the quests offered to you by the Ser before meeting with the Duke though, almost certain those would disappear. (i.e. Investigate the Cult, Decipher Text, etc.)

Azrael008uk

Thanks for that.

I've just hit my stride with my Sorcerer and am loving the game now.

Was worried from the way they described things that an Audience with the Duke sets me straight into the final battle.

If it doesn't I'll go meet him.

I've completed all the preliminary Wyrm Hunt quests.

Cheers

I explored the plains to the southwest of the starting area and uncovered the map in full. Had to run from the bosses, although I did kill three-or-four cyclops things. They're the only bosses that I can kill at the moment. I then ran north past a rest camp and entered an abandoned quarry. An achievement unlocked. I then explored most of it, although I had to run past the ogres. I got a quarry key and unlocked several gates through pressure plates and so forth.

So I'd just like to know: can I keep exploring like this, fighting monsters and looking for treasure, without breaking any quests? I've yet to enter Gran Soren.

Yes you shouldn't have any problem doing this. It's what I'm doing. Just make sure to reference the Quest Guide so you know what quests are missable and in each area. Do that and you should be fine.

Yes you can forge the bugles and seeker tokens. The sour kept meat is a rare drop off of certain monsters. I've gotten it off some of the undead monsters in the Catacombs. Keep it with you until it rots. Then put in in an airtight flask. Do that 5 times and you're done. I'm not sure on the other questions.

Geo saurians don't show up until end game if i remember i first encountered them following the story at the end

Sour meat the easiest ways i know of is to go to the Ancient Quarry on the Gran Soren side and break the crates where you met the first ogre one of these should have Sour Ambrosial Meat take your Airtight Flask and create Kept Sour Ambrosial Meat.

You can also steal them from passing pawns on the road with master thief aswell.

Seeker Tokens & War bugels can be forged but you will get a quest from a notice board later on with a reward of 40 war bugels so you might want to wait for that.

The two golems in witch wood should wake up later on during the quest witch hunt it might only be one of them though not 100% sure.

This thread might have the answer to the parcel question it has direction's and a video i missed that quest so can't personally say where it is.

For the Sour Ambrosia Meat, I've noticed you'll occasionally get one or two off of a Ur-Dragon kill -- combine them with an Airtight Flask, then have the Black Cat vendor duplicate it six times (as you'll need one for Farewell, Valmiro). The fat undead DO drop it, but it was rare -- I've even seen them come from smashed crates in the Ancient Quarry.

EDIT: Fallen0 already had that tied down. I know the geo-saurians appear in the mountain pass between Gran Soren and the pawn encampment after the Everfall is available.

Oh so you can forge them? Thanks for that tip. I have a ton of gold at the moment. So I'll probably just go that route. It'll save me a lot of time. Now if I could only get that stupid Snakeskin purse I'd be caught up on notice board quests for now. I've killed dozens of Saurians in the spot by the falls to no avail.

Is it possible to dupe that and gift it to another player? If so I would be deeply greatly to some kind soul that would be willing to do that. I have heard you can get them in the Blighted Manse from breaking crates. So it's not a huge deal if it isn't possible. You know, that quest perplexed me to no end until I was able to replicate it in a NG+. The river that runs north of Gran Soren, likely in the area you are killing Sulfur Saurians? Well, if you find the river, follow it North-West and come to a waterfall -- trek a path up to the area above that waterfall, you'll find some burned out camps and more Sulfur Saurians. Make sure you have the quest "enabled" or "followed" in your quest log, and just march around the northern shoreline and out into the river and you should find the purse.

One of your pawns is likely to pick it up, but you'll get the whole "quest complete, return to [bartender in Gran Soren's name]" animation, check their inventory and [GIVE] to your character, turn it in. I really hope that works, because that's the only way I completed it twice. Let me know!

I honestly can't remember the name, but if you're looking at your map -- hover over the river with your cursor, it's right between Deos Hills and Cursewood. You'll see a little topography graphic that represents where the waterfall would be, I'd imagine. If you're above the waterfall, killing Sulphur Saurians in that burned-out camp -- you should be able to see the drop-off of the waterfall as you trek around in the river. Move a wide path along the shoreline and skim out into the water with the quest "enabled/tracked/followed" and I'm certain your pawns will pick up the purse.

I remember going out as far as the fallen tree trunk at the shoreline and up to the waterfall (but hopefully not OVER the waterfall). I'm on now if you want to send a private chat request, I may be able to guide you there.

On a side note, if anyone has reached end-game (Everfall) -- and you're getting frustrated with some of the encounters (i.e. two blackened chimaeras + two liches/wights simultaneously), I highly recommend grinding out your Mystic Knight vocation for the "Restoration" Augment.

"Increases the amount of Health restored when rescuing pawns."

This Augment is invaluable when farming the Ur-Dragon as well, given all drakes have their "instant pwn," scream that kills your pawns regardless of their health. It almost restores them to full health.

OK I just played thru a 2nd and trying to finish random stuff before I do a 3rd playthru to try and get The Hero and have several questions that I hope I can get some answers for.

1. More of a suggestion than a question. Can an index be posted on the 1st thread, or 2, as a quick search instead of trying to read (or re-read) what is now 5 pages of posts?

2. Before I "complete" my 2nd playthru do I have to Ferry around and collect all my Portcrystals throughout the world? or Can I leave them in place and theyll be in place for my 3rd playthru?

3. In the thread describing "The Hero" achievement the author states that you do not need to complete all quests in one playthru. Ive noticed that my Pawn's quest log in history had stars in Quests I either did in first playthru or failed in 2nd (Thick as Thieves). Can this be confirmed? I dont want to go into 3rd playthru and have to chase down every quest again but just focus on the 2 Ive missed.

I missed this achievement on my first playthrough as I thought I had killed a Wyrm in Everfall. I was north of Gran Soren heading towards Bluemoon when I was attacked by a Wyvern on the road. It registered, as the "Kill Counter" listed all but a Wyrm -- just check your Adventure Log under History for "Enemies" before you decide to end your current playthrough.

Ok, so does Magic stat, have any possible affect on damage output of one using a enchanted weapon?

I was just going to finish leveling my Warrior, and while equipping stored/saved gear, I see I had a Malignance which has a pretty high Magic as well as an ice enchant. Comparing with another greatsword, War Blade, I noticed it was weaker in Strength, but in value it was twice as great. I know basing a weapons use on a vendors pricing is not a good idea, and I have a Triple Tooth hammer which out damages anything else I have available ATM (I just prefer greatswords in general). But I started to wonder if maybe the Magic stat provided a boost to enchanted weapons to make them more comparable.

Well, in regards to the War Blade (much like the Golden weapons + Souldrinker) -- I believe those are just vendor trash (i.e. worth more than usual, but not worth equipping). As for the weapons that have both strength and magic, but seem balanced as opposed to a huge upgrade comparable to a weapon that exclusively has strength values...I believe you had the right idea.

I'm sure these weapons provide an elemental heavy-hitter meant to exploit the weakness of certain enemies. The drake, as an example, is weak to ice -- so a weapon with a natural ice enchant, coupled/stacked (if possible) with the ice enchant from a sorcerer/mage...Is likely to do more damage than the weapon with the heavier strength rating alone.

It's the old blunt force trauma versus precision tactic, I'm sure both are very viable and can be utilized to speed up certain encounters.

Conservation. When it says it reduces stamina used for magic weapon skills, does this mean/include spells? I have yet ventured into a magic class, I've left that to my pawn til now. So I haven't really been able to observe what it affects. Trying to shore up my sorcerer pawns build.

No worries, your Board quest progress (The Laborer Achievement) carries over into your NG+; you can do five of the early, easiest quests to complete the achievement as soon as you start the NG+.

Alright I've narrowed my question down a lot. What is the best pair of pants (clothing slot) in terms of debilitation resistance. I'd ask about shirt... but I know the Abyssinal Outfit is most likely the best. Also what cape is the best when it comes to debilitation resistance I heard the Tattered Mantle is the best when forged, but unless it gets awesome once Dragon Forged I don't really see it.

Also is there any frakking way to get the Abyssinal Outfit in the game legit? Because I want that thing so bad.

I have a question.

FLIPADELPHIIA was kind enough to answer me via Xbox Live and I didn't like to bug him too much, but I am REALLY looking for Heaven's Key daggers. He thinks they may be lootable somewhere, or you can buy them but I am having great trouble finding any on sale or anywhere else in the world, so can anyone else help? As I said, I didn't want to bug FLIPADELPHIIA too much with questions so am asking here :)

REALLY want my main pawn to have a set of those Heaven Keys :)

Thanks :)

The offline Ur-Dragon drops Ascalon and Heaven's Key. I have a few of them and can give you one. Its just not dragon forged as I'm using those on myself and my own pawn.

Update :

I had a spare dragon forged which is now yours.

For those who are OCD like me, I have some questions about Pawn Knowledge that I have tried finding a definitive answer for yet couldn't. First off, maybe something more personal I guess, is Dripstone only 2/3 Stars for anyone else, even after the second quest in the well? I'm pretty sure I explored the area entirely yet my pawn still doesn't give the satisfying "I've learned of this area." Also, for the Thieves quest (Both) can your pawn only get full knowledge if you find the traitor/feed the cyclops AND kill the opposite bandits? I'm stuck on 2/3 for the males and 1/3 for the females. Lastly, what governs the bestiary? I'm guessing it has to do with killing things in different ways but I'm still lost.

I'm not quite sure, but if I have to guess, kills.

Spoiler -

Post-game the guards in Gran Soren's royal district will attack you on sight.

They also have an endless spawn. There's usually 5 of them rushing you at a time.

Farming them takes around 20 minutes to max vocations from 1-9. Just stand inside the church's door and wait for them to come to you. A bow is recommended because up close these guys block everything.

You can also hire two stronger pawns, simply jump onto a wall in front of the church so that you are out of reach, and then simply let the pawns kill them.

i was worried more about now then post-game because i'm trying to max vocation on Strider>Sorcerer>Ranger>Magick Archer and i wanna hit Magick Archer before i reach the end of the game. but that's good to know if for some reason i don't do it in time. thanks.

Well in that case just go out of Gran Soren gates and kill wildlife until you run out of stamina then run back, sleep and do it again. That area if front of the Shadow Fort with all the goblins and boars will work too.

The way you make your character and pawn make a huge difference in carrying more. If you make your character as tall as he/she can be and as bulky (muscular), he/she can then carry a lot more. If you made your character average or small, they have reduced carrying space. I read a post on it with screenshots explaining everything. You could always do a Google search but the short answer is, if you want to carry more you can:

A) Edit your character and pawn again with the Art of Metamorphosis which the Rift Crystal Vendor sells at the Encampment.

B) There is one or two Augments that strengthen or lighten your burden so you can carry more. Personally I think a waste of an Augment but if you are just starting out, maybe something to look into.

I know if you set your weight to the lowest aka skinny, you will use less stamina. My guess would be the same for having a smaller character. That being small would mean you use less stamina. I see small characters all the time and I'm like "why would you want to look like a kid???" LOL :) Each to their own!

If you get 1000exp or more you get 7.5% DCP/JP
If you get less than 1000exp but the expe is still 100 or more you'll get 15% DCP/JP
If you get less than 100 you get 37.5% DCP/JP

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/626515-dragons-dogma/62984110

You need to click on that and read it in detail. It explains the job points and how to maximize them. I used the "post game" method and within about one hour and forty minutes, I went from level one warrior vocation to level nine.

The short version though, you need to be killing monsters that give you LESS than 100 xp. Anything over 100 xp will take longer. I know I know, it doesn't make sense but that is how it is setup in the game lol.

I seem to have been running into trouble with my pawn surviving. Everytime I rest at an inn she returns with all 3 star ratings, which indicate that she's died in someone's world. I also find she has low survivability in the post game where you fight loads of high level bosses.

So my question is: are there any main and secondary traits you may recommend for a support caster/healer pawn so that she won't die as much?

This is becoming a problem since many people use her and her rating is suffering because of it. Thanks!

One augment she should have is Bastion. It reduces the damage taken physically. You can easily obtain it from picking the Warrior vocation with her, buy it, then switch her back and add the augment.

I had the same problem early on until I added that augment and for me, it made a huge difference for my healer. Another option you have is to hit up a high level friend and have them gift you some gear. If you don't have one, feel free to add me. I have more money and gear then I know what to do with. There is a fighter augment called 'Max Sinew' It is perhaps one of the best augments in the game and I really think every single main character should have it. I forget exactly when but it is quite a low vocation rank augment as well.

What it does is max out your weight capacity. It basically means you can nearly always be very light or light. So quick movement, can carry lots etc

Yes. New items unlock as you progress through the main plot. Also via the two Idol Worship quests.

Seek out all merchants, including those in rest areas and ensure to revisit them as you progress throughout the game. Also ensure to sleep for 7 days iot see them update and restock.

Purchase everything that says "New". Everything else you already have or had.

You're ShockingAlberto from Gaf aren't you? =D I like your posts.

Easiest way to get the 350 pieces is just buying from the merchants. I would say in general start off buying all the cheapest things. Especially good is buying weapons for classes you didn't really use as odds are you didn't randomly find that weapon. The merchants in the quarry and cassardis are probably the ones you bought least from.

Also chests in the everfall have a small chance of having very rare armour/weapons in them. Sometimes there can be up to 6 chests in one room. If you really want to boost your count then what you can do is clear the room of enemies. Open the chests and check what is inside. If the item isn't something new then simply don't pick it up and leave the room and re-enter. Enemies won't respawn but the chest will close and the item inside will be randomized again.

If you have never fought the Ur-Dragon then keep an eye on threads about which generation he is on. Then when he dies run in and finish him off in your game. If you have never fought him before you will usually get around 6 new items. As well as 30 or so wakestones to sell at 35k each.

If you are really struggling then the monster hunter weapon pack will add 12 weapons to the count but it costs 240MSP.

Also as an added thing to Rayne ZA's post - Items you have never owned won't necessarily say NEW. They only saw new until you scroll across them. Odds are there are a good 50-100 items across all the merchants in the game that you have never owned but have scrolled past at some point. I.e. if you weren't a warrior you will have scrolled past the low level two handed swords. Then if you switch to warrior later would jump straight in at the high end.

I believe in my game I managed to buy around 70 items or so from shops that didn't have NEW written on them. Mostly weapons for classes I hadn't used much.

Skeleton mages drop pigeon's blood. There should be some in the catacombs.

Also griffins kinda land at random. Often shooting at them with a bow will bring them down though. Or simply pay attention and often they will land near the bison/ox that are roaming around.

Easy way to do it is as soon as you see a Griffin flying around press the help command (left or right on D-pad). Now you should have a mage with fire affinity as it is basically always useful. They should enchant your weapon with fire because you asked for help.

Then depending on the class you are, if you have a bow equip the skill with the most shots (so the rangers 10 arrows in a line, Striders 7 in a row etc). Then when the Griffin lands fire straight into it's wings. Odds are they will get set on fire and it won't be able to fly. You can then close the distance and start fighting. Once you start fighting properly it is very rare that they retreat.

Alternatively it is mandatory to fight one at one point. And they do become slightly more common further in.

So I'm loving this game and I've put 20 hours into my current character. My problem is that I don't know how to continue with the main quest line. Of course I've made it to Gran Soren and gone to the Pawn Guild. I did the quest where you go down into the Pawn Guild and I received that Wyrm Hunt Licence when I left. Now I've just been doing escort quests and other side quests. Is there a place I need to go or person to talk to so I can do more main quests?

Go into the noble quarter and there is a knight standing outside the castle gates. He will give you quests.

In case you don't know where this is. Enter Gran Soren from the south and turn left at the fountain, walking in between the blacksmith and herb shops, then when you go through the gate into the farm like area turn right up the hill and through the big double doors. Go up the stairs and through the other gate. This is the noble district. The castle is just to the left. The knight you want is dressed in red.

Ah, thanks a lot! Now I've just got to get back to Gran Soren. Should have bought one of those fast travel things.

So you only need to buy one Ferrystone? I just used one to get back to Gran Soren and picked it up from my feet once I was there. I bought three of these for nothing? Haha, I have tonnes of money anyways, but is there anything I can do with the other two or do I just sell them back?

Keep them. Every time you use a ferrystone it is gone for good.

I know what you mean though. I'm not sure what causes it but sometimes when you warp to Gran Soren (in my case only GS, port crystals it wouldn't work) there will be a ferrystone on the ground. However even then it is only sometimes. For me I would say less than 50% of the time.

So you will definitely need those ferrystones over time.

So I hand in those 3 signatures saying that guy in Trials and Tribulations is guilty, but then I go through all that damn trouble to do everything else giving e 4 or 5 pieces of innocence evidence and he's still said to be guilty. Just... what the fuck?

Comments on wiki suggests its obtained from the offline Ur-Dragon. I've seen that mentioned on gamefaqs too, but there is nothing concrete.

I farmed the offline Ur-Dragon plenty and got nothing however.

I wish someone will capture and post to confirm this find already. Surely it must come from somewhere, there's no way its future DLC.

.... Why did you hand in the 3 saying he was guity? =/

It isn't simply a case of whichever you hand more in of. I'm not sure of the exact ratio but the innocent ones hold less weight. I guess because they simply come from mostly random citizens whereas the guilty ones come from a family who he threw out of their home.

All I did was simply sell the guilty condemnations. Think you get like 1500 gold for each lol. Then got all the innocent statments from people in Gran Soren, escorted the guy from windbluff tower and I also bought the 4 forged innocent statements from Reynard.

Don't escort the guy from cassardis either, as he testifies against Fournival. With I think the strongest evidence in the case.

I handed those in first, then I read about how you could get a cape, and I thought, "hells yeah, I'm gettin' me that cape".

It's funny that someone would pay for those lol. Well, I don't really need any gold anyways. I don't even know what to buy with the over 1,000,000 I have sitting here. I've stocked up well on Ferrystones.

Trust me you will need gold. When you get into the post game single pieces of armour can cost between 150-500k. Single weapons can cost over 1million. All the best gear is super expensive.

I felt the same thing. Start of the game constantly strapped for gold. Then started to get a bit more but still most of it being wasted on new armour, weapons, enhancements etc. Then I got to a point where I had over a million and thought I was rich. Got to end game and it was gone pretty much instantly. Even after farming wakestones and earning an extra 4 or so million from them I still didn't have enough gold to buy everything I wanted.

Kind of a newb question but I'm trying to complete one of the first missions called Grim Tidings. The guy you are supposed to talk to is named Merin. When I get near him he screams "No!" and runs for the nearest exit to the city. Anyone know why? I can't talk to him at all.

Would really, really love a blessed flower or forgery of one so I can complete a quest. Mine died before I could have turned it in, so if anyone has a forgery or is on new game + and completed the quest in their first play through, I would really appreciate the assist. :)

I would to know about finding a Griffin.
I'm on my NG+ and i know in story mode you have to fight a Griffin, and i had seen them in my first playthrough.
I have not long started NG+, and just got to the city and i'm going for the 50 job board quest's, one i got is "Defeat 3 Griffins".
I have looked online etc, but with no luck, only mainly how to fight them etc.
I have been to all the said location's etc, lots of times but not found one yet?
So my question is, do i need to play up to the so called story part or after, to get them to spawn?, or should i be able to find one straight away from the start?
If anyone knows 100%, it would be good to know the answer, as i'm just running around in circle's, and i can't seem to be able to cancel the quest...
......Thanks.....

don't know if this is still active. need to know if I have a follower now for life. I took a quest to escort someone but I'm not high enough level to get to the area he wants to go yet. can I cancel the quest until I've got the ability to survive out their or am I indeed ferrying him about till I level up or he dies?

If your level isn't high enough, just try to keep running, and let your pawns hold off the enemies for you. I don't think escort quests can be cancelled, either success, or fail.

Yes, you can use a ferrystone and a portal to transport the escortee directly to the destination.
