Perhaps a playthrough without using a medpack and not dying? Also voids itself if a co-op partner uses a medpack or dies...

I'm sure they're going to do something with Kinesis as well, probably an achievement called Tug Of War where both players Kinesis rip an arm of a Necro... co-op combos... One uses Stasis while another finishes the monster...

I hope there is NO co-op achievements, I plan on playing the game solo, and none of my buddies are thinking about picking the game up, so co-op achievements are gonna be a pain in the arse for me.

Same here. Plus, co-op in a survival horror game just doesn't feel right to me.

i do agree that there shouldn't be co-op cheevos for, lets say, beating the game on the hardest difficulty or never dying, but there should be cheevos for doing certain difficult puzzles/objective (please god let there be a 2 guys 1 peng cheevo!)

i also believe that if they put co-op into dead space, then there will be ALOT of areas where you will be separated from each other with no communication in a very eerie tunnel filled with ice and necremorphs in the walls and the floor.

also really want to throw an ubermorph/hunter down a mountain.

Well at least I hope they stick to the idea (and as one developer has mentioned) that it is indeed a drop in/out COOP. If you want to play all by yourself it gives you the option.

Not as in Resident Evil 5 for example when you play by yourself and the other character is controlled by a computer which really sucked.

no co-op achievements? i dont see that happening. hopefully though they don't waste one on simply completing the game as carver. a "tug of war" achievement involving kenesis, as someone else suggested on here would be pretty cool. maybe even something having to do with rescuing your partner while there in the middle of fighting off a necromorph qte...

no co-op achievements and no hardcore achievement.

I agree with this. I'm going to die if there's another Hardcore Achievement just because of the save system associated with it.

Fuck You Hardcore - YouTube

Fuck You Hardcore Part 2 - YouTube

I don't need the above happening to me again after my last save was on chapter 11. If there's an Achievement where you can get checkpoints with the same difficulty, then fine. Make it like Dead Space 1.

Hard to the Core on Dead Space 2 was not fun to go for at all.

Buruma

Agreed with regards to Hard Core. That is the only Dead Space achievement I've never attempted and probably never will. If Dead Space 2 had co-op I probably would have attempted Hard Core with a friend, though. Still, I would rather see them add a few random co-op achievements rather than another one for Hard Core in Dead Space 3.

Yes, Drop-in/out co-op is confirmed to be separate of the SP.

That said there will probably be an achievement for beating the entire game in Co-op, or maybe not.

Also, I'm impartial to Hardcore. I only beat it once, but I'll willingly do it again if need be.

I did a hardcore run recently. It IS worth it if you prep it right and work around to abuse glitches.

Here's a copy-paste I wrote to another guy about the game.
By far the best advice, sit with youtube along as you play. Watch someone else play the game on hardcore as well. That way you're always ahead the enemy and nothing will surprise you. When the element of surprise is gone the game suddenly becomes easier.

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?annotation_id=annotation_849459&feature=iv&p=158CDC17D7CFB296&src_vid=NhcytFbd8P0 is a link to the guy I watched. He's amazing and without him I'd never make it.

Second advice, though controversial, is that if you're only after the trophy/achievement and not the immersive experience you should use any glitches if necessary. You'll be a boss and they're very useful at the beginning. I know I'll probably get downvoted for suggesting it but I don't think it's a dumb idea if you're just hunting for that last achievement/trophy.

Insulting isn't the word I'd use to describe it. How so? A fucking bitch maybe ;)

It was the last one I did on the game too, keep at it my man!

Found it to be a worthy and satisfying challenge. Fucking hard and required patience and planning. I took a weekend away from life to go gaming hermit and get it done. Warned my friends I won't even be answering my phone so not to bother. :p

Stocked up on food and good beer, info and tip threads from this site on my laptop and went to town on it. Few achievements have given that same immense sense of victory that Hard to the Core does.

OT: I'm curious to know the difference between Hardcore and Pure Survival modes. I've been avoiding any spoiler-possible details on this game. So have simply been avoiding any news on it. I know I'm getting it day one.

This is cute, love how the The Librarian tile looks like an old analog magnetic tape. Ah the memories. Damn I'm getting old.

:whsAnybody know the details behind hardcore mode and pure survival mode so I can start meditating now!

That hardcore achieve in DS2 was almost the death of me and everything home theater in my living room. Thinking of getting a big ass piece of plexi-glass to mount in front of my TV for this one. Those controllers got some weight behind them!

I don't mind most of the list, but one thing I absolutely hate in games, especially ones carrying achievements, is when, for the sake of completion, they throw in forced multiple playthroughs. I don't mind checking out the different modes of the game, but when you tell me "sorry, you've finished the game once, and that was great and all, but if you want these arbitrary point values, go ahead and do it three times!", I just get mad. My completionism won't let me NOT get them, so my mind always forces me into doing it anyways! >XP

Reminds me of the first game's list which I like. I'm actually excited about the new Hardcore achievement. Awesome feeling getting Hard to the Core. Really curious to what Pure Survival is gonna be about!

Normally I would agree with you wholeheartedly. But for some games I welcome it. Especially if it's playing in a different way. Plus you could always, hopefully if possible, combine a Hardcore or Pure Survival run with your co-op run.

I would bet Classic mode is no co-op or maybe like One Gun using only the plasma cutter.
Pure Survival would be very minimal health/stasis/ammo akin to Zealot.
Hardcore very similar to DS2.

I'm looking forward to multiple play throughs with different weapons each time.

I just did my second Hardcore the other day. Kind of exhilarating after not playing for several months, but I didn't get top 30 in MP a few years ago for nothing. :Bounce:

Anyway, I'm not looking forward to anymore one gun runs. Silly being a survival shooter and the best gun is the one you start off with, no frills and easy to use. I'm not digging the weapon balance in the demo right now.

With people complaining so much about the hardcore achievement being devalued because of co-op I'm guessing that co-op could increase the amount of enemies and their damage etc. also remember that you both share the same resources that would be in a single player game so in essence you only have half the ammo and items for upgrades.

Also after playing the demo I think that surviving the drill area without taking any damage may rely on co-op basically you run around like a mad man taking care of the drill whilst your partner deals with the necromorphs.

Even then we might want to hope there is a very easy difficulty. Me and a friend tried it that way.. didnt go so well. I have a feeling this one will suck.

Don't Get Cocky, Kid is the most purely frustrating DS cheevo in my opinion. Hated that one in a way I never did with Hardcore.

Anyway, not a fan of the co-op achievements; by all accounts, some of the others, (like collecting blueprints), can only be done in co-op as well as you can only get them in the extra areas with Carver.

In regards to your first part, a developer has stated that the enemies become more aggressive if you play co-op. I will test it out tomorrow when I play co-op with my friend. So far I'm playing solo and there's not a chance for them to increase MORE enemies because the game already spawns shit tons. It's heavily action focused. Also, you don't share resources in co-op. Each person sees their own drops so you're free to pick up everything you come across while your partner does the same. I tested that in the demo.

As for your second part, I haven't got to that level yet, but I'm assuming if you want to do it solo, a force gun is a must. Have a rapid fire primary with a alt fire force gun & then just blast the necros back and unload on the drill as fast as you can.

02-03-2013, 06:43 AM
The force gun is pretty weak but if you make the "pitch black 392" and put some mk II and alien circuits on it then it gets pretty good. It's a chain gun primary with a force gun secondary. Especially if you put a compressor tip on the force gun. Also to anyone that might be wondering for the space ace achievement as soon as you shoot 70 objects the achievement will pop. The higher the difficulty the more objects their will be also.

I'm pretty sure as soon as you hit the next auto-save in the game your current save from chapter 10 will be overwritten.

Maybe someone who already tried it could shed some light on this!

Probably one of the most time-consuming achievements, estimated at at least two hours and a half; turns out it's description is accurate, you can place it at the same resource spot repeatedly after you refresh the location the spot is in.

Three things about Scavenger Bots:
1) Their timer is only active in-game
2) You must leave and re-enter a Bench if one returns to it while you are using it.
3) They are flipping invincible, no wonder they lasted for 200 years.

They don't have to be picked up in a single run but they DO have to made on the SAME save you're doing it on i.e. you can't make a normal play-through then decide to get the rest of the collectibles on the other three modes (Classic, Survival, Hardcore). Just replay chapters you're missing items on after first run; I'm assuming this goes for New Game+ but can't verify since I haven't done it yet myself.

There is NO WAY to get them Solo. In order to collect them all and unlock the achievement you will need a ONLINE COOP partner and do the COOP exclusive optional-missions. No split-screen or such things!

I see the achievement check list here is still messed up.
Every time I go to check off completed achievements and save, it takes back off the same ones(Stranger in a Strange Land and Space Odyssey) and keeps giving me one I've not ticked off, Space Ace.

Is there an actual problem with the site or what?

That issue can be resolved by following the steps listed in this thread (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=423684).

I checked my progress for this achievement and it said 13/15 and then after recovering the bots from the bench it said 12/15. What happened?

Pure Surivival Mode, I have to say, I had the most fun out of all difficulties/modes. I did it purely online co-op too doing all of the optional missions along the way. No items were wasted and upgrades finished fast, only creating/using what I needed.

Also, Awakened DLC is on sale %50 off between 9/3 - 9/9.
