With a LOT of work going into making the original Xbox library play on the 360, wouldn't it be cool if Achievements became available for those games? How'd you like to get a nice boost to your Gamerscore for beating Halo 2 on Elite or demolishing everything in Otogi? What does everyone think of that idea?

Even if it does happen, people who already played through kotor wouldn't get their achievements.

P.S.: There is no halo difficulty called elite.

Hahah. :p

I think it would be alright, however I don't like too many of the games from the original Xbox. I mean some were alright, but I wouldn't want to play through them again when there are Xbox 360 games...

OOPS! My mistake! I meant "Legendary". Which game was I thinking of that had "Elite"?

this would be cool but this could never happen so lets keep dreaming

I think it would be a bit cheap in my opinion. It's not like earning much then.

ya never going to happen and because there are already some platinum hits that when to the 360 with achievements

This has actually been discussed before.

M$ has no plans to bring an Achievement list to the first Xbox titles and they never will. I agree, it would be a fantastic idea, but it's not going to happen.

There would also be problems with double achievements. For example I know that Tony Hawks American Wasteland came out for Xbox and Xbox 360. Then you could 2000 point it, and that just wouldn't work. It would be cool though.

Imagine the gamesavers scores if all of the orignal xbox games had points. Yeesh. Millions?

Part of me would want to see it but another part of me doesn't.It's probably best to leave the past behind and stick with the 360 and future having achievements.

what programmer is gonna redo an old ass game for a new console?? (Besides ninja gaiden sigma lol)

You have to add the triggers in game to set off the achievements when a certain action is met, you cant just say heres some achievements and we didnt even have to redo the game.

Your thinking about Rainbow 6 Vegas bro. But ya, i wouldn't like that. Too many people would game save and have an outrageous gamer score.

P.S. Technically, Halo 2 does have achievements but only the PC version. But, it still goes on your gamer card and under games played and has 1000 achievment points in it. Anyone know if they plan on doing this with future games for windows games? Such as Gears Of War?

Sounds extremely pointless to me

ya it would be pretty cool but Microsoft would never go back and remake every single game in their entire arsenal. I know that there are over 500 Xbox title's. It would let suffor get a Gamerscore up over 700,000 and thats not what we want. The thing is it will never happen and there is no way what so ever that it could happen

I'll tell you this much. It would be a lot easier to boost my score. I have 14 Xbox games that I never play anymore, but would like to. They are fun... It's just I like CoD3 more XD

It could be a good idea but M$ would never do such a thing.

im actually really suprised they didnt make an xbox 360 version of halo 2 wen 360 first came out..considering that is the only game a couple of my friends play on 360..and i keep getting stupid halo 2 messages from them which gets annoying lol. instead they realease a vista version a couple months before halo3 comes out which is pointless

It would be nice if they did it for the flagship titles like Halo, but then people would complain that they want other games too, and it just ends up costing them money that wouldn't show them any real returns.
Backwards compatibility was a feature that helped to sell consoles. MS makes more money that way.
Achievements in old games would sell old games, but most xbox 1 games would be used copies, and only Gamestop wins there. Developers and MS don't get a cut.

the guide doesnt work with xbox games, so they would have to re-do every game ala riddick, and that aint happening.

I agree that it would be fun, but it would be just this side of impossible for them to get anything out of it. The only option I see would be if they did a marketplace download for an update to the software that could notice the triggers, and therefore dole out the achievements.

If that was possible, it may actually work in Microsoft's favor, because if they set the Halo 2 achievement update at say....800 MP, same as an arcade game, which is about $10 (rounding here), then say 10 million people worldwide download it, that's $100 million dollars almost pure profit. There'd be little to no advertising, no packaging, no distribution, no retail margin, all there'd be is developer salaries.

All things considered, Microsoft may seriously benefit from this idea......

You actually can get achievement points for beating Halo 2 on Legendary...or any difficulty for that matter.

You just need the vista version :P
