Now that I've finally come into possession of a Slim and have infinitely more HD space, is it worth going back and installing all of my games?

It's worth installing almost every game you plan on playing. Less wear on the disc drive and faster load times. Really no downside.

I only install the games I'm actively playing. There's not really much point in them taking up HD space if you're not playing them.

Install the games you play the most. That's what I do.

Yeah, I install all my games. I HATE the noise of the optical drive when it's spinning!

With 320Gb of space, I install all of mine, whether I'm going to play them or not.

I would only install games that you use frequently, like for me i would install my call of duty games, and battlefield, i wouldn't bother with most of my others.

This, if you haven't touched the game in awhile don't bother installing it.That would just take up space and the 6-9gb of space per game adds up if you own a lot.

Yeah if you have that amount of space you should. My hard drive is smaller so I only install the games I'm currently playing.

ive had the 120 plus the Arcade with HDMI after my original system had to get referbed yet again in late 2008, this was after we finally got the Install option with the dashboard update in late Nov 08 and ive been installing everything and had no issues.

wish we had the install feature from the beginning cause all the DREs kinda ruined my experience with alot of games pre-2009 including Mass Effect 1 and the GPU died while i was playing Fallout 3 which came out about 2 months before the Install feature.

Only ones you are going to play. I delete the ones I have finished with then.

Only install games you play a lot or that take ages to load up. Like maybe Call of Duty or Battlefield. Battlefield 3 takes so long to load up.

Just the ones you're playing. It'd be pointless to install games you're not using a lot, or ones you're finished with. It also depends on your HDD space, you don't want to go nuts even with 120GB, I've managed to fill that.

I won't play a game unless i've installed it.

Every so often i go through the HDD and delete the ones i've finished with to clear up space :)

I've never done this, thinking about buying a bigger HD, whats the standard size of a game?

I personally install all of my games. I feel like it makes my slim do less work and hopefully keep it cooler since it doesn't have to read the disk as much. It's a good idea, I would do it.

I install every game the second I get it. Every month or so I go through and delete any games that I haven't played in awhile or don't plan on playing soon.

Some games load faster and play better if their installed to the hard drive. If you have a disc that is scratched and your 360 gives you the disc read error message installing the game to hard drive will make it play but I`ve had some games that can`t completely install when the game disc is really scratched.

Do any of you find your xbox's slowing down after installing a bunch of games? I'm having some sluggish load time issues on my xbox with everything EXCEPT games in the disc drive.

I've only installed Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, due to the long load times. My god did Battlefield take a long time to load :p

Clear your cache more often (you will have to re-download any game updates each time you start a game).

Where does he say at all that he plans on installing games he doesn't plan on playing?

Same for retail and arcade: if I'm getting achievements on them, they're installed. Otherwise, as soon as I finish them, they're gone.

I install the game(s) I am on now and the next couple in my backlog. There's also a lingering game or two I tend to go back to semi frequently, so that too. But even if you have 320GB, installing games you have no intention to play is unnecessary. Though if you even think you might play a agme, you may as well use up all that space. (With 120GB I don't have this luxury.)

There are a handful of games that actually load slower when installed on the HD. I found a list that shows the effect of installing the game on the HD on the loading speed. Now I have to dig around and find it.

Edit: I think this is it:http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202456

Those games are few and far between (a quick scan of that list and it seems like most of the "red" games are games no one wants anyway). That list also only talks about loading times. Loading times are not the only concern when installing.

There are games like Fable 2 which don't even run properly if not installed. The sound is all screwed up in Fable 2 if you don't install. Other games the graphics clip, the sound is screwed up and load times are effected.
