If this comes in 2013 than we won't have much time to play these games! Coming in 2013 like gta 5! Will we still have our old live accounts with our hard earned cheevos? Or do we have to start over? Can we play 360 games on there and be able to play live with 360 games? What's your guys opinions?

Also no time to play dlc for black ops 2 or borderlands 2! I kind of don't want it to come out in 2012. Maybe 2014 when they make it better?

Lets slow down a bit, getting way ahead of yourself, nothing is confirmed yet.

Besides, I won't be getting the new Xbox anytime soon, so will have plenty of time to play these games and some old ones I ain't played yet.

i kind of agree on that standpoint, that i would rather it have "more time in the oven" and be polished. as far as the games, nomatter what i think thats not gonna happen. i doubt they stop releasing games + DLC 6 months before the new xbox, just to give us "time" lol.

ive heard that we would keep the account information and stuff, which would be awesome. personally i will be keeping a 360 just for novelty purposes, afterall they wont port over EVERY game to be played on the new console im assuming. i still want my mass effect series and some other games incase i wanted to go back and play them. also, im getting a slim soon anyway so not too worried about the "720"? (ew that name is bad)

note : there are lots of topics like this, and no doubt people will chime in about that. also, try to edit post so it doesnt look messy with double or tripple posts. especially if you were the last person to post on the thread, just friendly tips :p

My opinion is the name "720" sucks. Xbox infinity is tons better, IMO.

As for what the next gen Xbox will do? Who knows at this point? I know I won't be getting one, since mine is just a few months old.

I dont plan on getting rid of my 360 even when the new xbox comes out. That is UNLESS its backwards compatible AND I get a massive chunk of a discount on the new xbox. I have a polished slim 250gb and it works perfectly *knock on wood*.

I'm going to stick to the 360 a while longer, i may even get another one if it's losing backwards compatibility.

Not me, I only bought a 360 October 2009, I'm slow at buying up to date things.

Most stuff you hear on the net these days is rumor or speculation. I'd give it until a few weeks after Wii U (release day probably to be in November) comes out and Nintendo reports their initial earnings. After that Microsoft and Sony will adapt their strategies around this and decide if they should pick up the pace on next-gen or stall it longer.

As it is, hardware is much more expensive to make than software, and the longer 360 can go, the more profit for Microsoft. Also there's rumor that there will be a 3rd version of 360, a download-only Xbox "Lite" before Microsoft takes the plunge and make the Xbox 720. Yup, I said it, the Xbox 720, seven-hundred twenty, that's the name that makes the most sense! :)

I don't understand why people are complaining about a console coming out too soon or not having enough time to play their 360 games. Just because a new console is released doesn't mean you have to throw your 360 in the trash. No one is forcing you to only play the new console:confused:

Also if the next gen doesn't have backwards compatibility, what's stopping you from playing 360 games in your 360. I occasionally pull out the N64 when i'm in the mood for some Goldeneye goodness.

As for the 720(?) i'm one of those people who purchases new tech stuff day 1;)

I'm kind of rooting for at least a 2014 release date because I just got a new xbox slim last November and I'm not to happy to be paying for a new system so soon.

Just my 2 cents.

LOL, you pulled this directly from your ass. Are you and bboy360 the same person just trying to cram the whole "digital only" thing down everybody's throats hoping to get some people used to the idea or something?

The chances of them coming out with an Xbox 360 "lite" as you put it are none and less than zero. There is ZERO chance of them coming out with a system that can't even play 95% of the games available. None. At all.

The only "source" for this is an anonymous Reddit poster from someone who most people speculate are just taking already-known information and making educated guesses from there that he's just calling "inside information" or whatever. And even his little AMA didn't say anything that I found about the system having no drive.

Some people need to chill! Change is good.. This is coming from someone who've only owned a 360 since June 2011! I'll agree maybe a 2014 release wouldn't make me mad, but a 2013 release is fine as long as its no earlier than October 2013. All I hope for is backwards compatibility because I'm sure they'll have a "bring your 360 in for a small discount" which I'll need.. Plus being able to unlock 360 achievements on the 720.. Oh yeah, 400$ - 480$ range please!

The later it comes out, the more advanced it will be.

And the opening post is retarded, because it will always be that way when a new console is released. Just play the games and get the console, or just don't get the games.
It's not like your damn Xbox is gonna up and walk away when they release the new console. It's your choice of when to play the games, what to buy, and how you use your time. If you can't manage that, then that's just no good, is it?

Ok seriously? Another "Xbox 720" thread? First off, the console name hasn't even been officially announced. Like others have mentioned, Xbox Infinity sounds alot better. Second, it definitely won't be coming out next year. We'll be lucky to even get a sneak peak of it at E3 next year. Look for a holiday 2014/Q1 2015 release.

As far as your gamertag being transferable to the next Xbox. If you haven't noticed yet, everything Windows does is linked to your Live ID. Xbox Live, Windows 8, WP7/WP8, Hotmail, SkyDrive, etc, etc. They aren't just going to ditch the Live ID. Everyone is safe.

I wont be buying one anytime soon, as many other have said there are still plenty of games to play on the 360. Although I’m sure all the 360 games will be able to be played on any new console, there’s no reason why they wouldn’t be anyway. I’ll wait at least a year or longer either way, and I’m sure you will be able to transfer your gamer tag and all to your stuff over to the new one, Microsoft isn’t stupid, they know that would be a selling point for a lot of people.

im pretty sure that microsoft announced in 2010 that xbox was only halfway through its life cycle. using this logic the next xbox would be coming out in 2014/15? also i doubt it would be called xbox 720. they called it 360 because thats how many degrees are in a circle. i have no idea why people have just doubled it

Though I doubt it'll be called the 720, I can see why people are calling it that. 360 is one full circle. 720 is two. So there is some logic behind it. Until we get some concrete information about what they'll call the next system (which is probably still identified right now by internal code name only), people are probably likely going to refer to it as the 720.

Heck, when you really think about it, there's the off chance that the next system may not even be called "X-box". It's very, very likely that they'll keep it just because of the brand/name recognition, but plenty of companies have completely changed the name of next-gen consoles with no problems at all.

Nintendo --> Super Nintendo --> N64 --> Game Cube --> Wii.
Master System --> Genesis --> Saturn --> Dreamcast.
Game Boy --> Game Boy Color --> Game Boy Advance --> DS
PSP --> PSP Go --> Vita

(I'm probably forgetting a few in there, but you get the idea)

It is truly amazing how Microsoft and other big corporations can so easily make money off of people. They release a console one year, and then they release another with a different name, and a few changes and people go out and buy it, then they buy all the new games for the new console. I think i'll stick with my 360s for quite some time. Let's face it the games will be the same as the ones now, maybe a little better graphics and that's it. They will be shooting and killing, with different names.

They release a console one year, and then they release another with a different name, and a few changes and people go out and buy it, then they buy all the new games for the new console.

The original X-Box was released in 2001. (64MB Ram 733Mhz Processor)

The X-Box 360 was released in 2005. (512MB GDDR3 Ram 3.2Ghz Processor)
Not to mention backwards compatibility with the original X-box's games.
Not to mention several other things......Like it has been out for nearly 7 years....

They continued to add X-Box games up until 2007. And discontinued supporting it's online functions in 2010.

It is not like when the new one comes out, the 360 will cease to exist. Hell people played Halo 2 on the original up until they shut down the servers....9 friggin years it was up and running.

The new X-Box (Whatever) is supposed to be backwards compatible with the 360's games. And let's say we take the original as an example. The online functionality of the 360 will be up and running until 2016....

To each their own... ~Peace

Pricey! You either have a good job or a wealthy family.

Or good money management skills.

Depending on if I like the finalized product, I may end up picking up two myself. At $400/unit (rough estimate of price), that's $800 + tax, which in this area comes to about $864. If I start saving six months in advance (which I usually do for major purchases), that's $30 a week.

Now granted, not everybody has room in their budget to stash aside $30 a week, but I'm just saying it's not really all that difficult if you have a little wiggle room and decent money management skills.
