Alright, so my wife and I recently had a baby. Cute as hell, but needs to be held to be comforted. She will fall asleep in my arms, but if so try to put her down she usually wakes up and stars to fuss. Thus, for long periods of time I find myself holding her.

Now I've been trying to play Xbox while standing and holding her. I hold her in my left arm and I hold the controller in my right hand. This gives me access to A, X, B, Y, RB, RT, and the right joystick. I can also kind of use the left joystick by rubbing it on my left arm.

One particularly good game to play in this fashion is Magic the Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013. I was wondering if there were any others, either arcade or retail, that are easy to play with only the right hand. You get bonus points for turn-based games, or games that allow you to pause, save , and resume from any point during play.

Lego Games are pretty easy. Especially if you are invincible.

Poker games would probably be a good one if you're interested in them. I seem to remember WSOP 2008 could pretty much be played with one hand, you could save at any point, and depending on your settings, you could watch more of what the other players do so you have some time between when you have to make a move. I would assume most other pokers games are going to follow suit.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head, but I'll post if I do.

EDIT: I can't remember playing it, but isn't Carcassone turn based? I would think you're pretty much looking at card/board games for these. Something like Monopoly (I've not actually played it, so don't know for sure) or Trivial Pursuit, etc. Scene it doesn't really require two hands. Buku Sodoku could probably be played with one hand.

That was just after a scroll through my played games. I think that's about all I've got.

EDIT again:

I remember Civilization Revolution being pretty much the only game I could play a couple years ago when I broke my wrist. Might be worth a try if you haven't played it before. Really good game too.

Yes, LEGO games. They are pretty basic and you would only need to use the left stick and the jump button obviously :) then there's Worms which is fun and simple.

DDR, you don't need any hands lol. Seriously though, card games are probably your best bet.

Seems like everybody plays with 1 hand in CoD. Sit in corner, watch screen, enemy turns corner, pull trigger.

Angry Birds is the only game I can legitimately play with one hand.

Civilization revolution is a great game, and can be played 1 handed. Might be worth a try. The Magic games are supposed to be good too. So my mate tells me.

Then again on the other hand you could get a baby rocker and play games while the rocker does it's job, or hold your baby and not play games...hmm.

You could try poker if your into that.

No offense, but I wouldn't recommend holding a baby standing up with 1 arm whilst playing your xbox with your other hand either.

Get a baby carrier, strap the baby to the front of you and hey presto, you've got two free hands.

Rock, paper, scissors.

Nicely done. ;)

On topic, I really suck playing with only one hand, usually I am only able to look around and shoot but not move at the same time if I'm playing a shooter.

The only game I've ever found myself playing with one hand is F1 2010. :p

After playing the game quite a shit ton on both Xbox and PC, I've mastered a few of the simpler tracks, specifically the one used to boost level 50, I could win that track blindfolded.

Hahaha, great responses. Keep the suggestions coming!

To the responses not suggesting games... I do have a bouncer, but she doesn't like it unless she is in a deep deep sleep, which doesn't happen often. We have a sling, but she hates it.

And what is the problem with playing Xbox while holding my baby girl?

UNO.

Great game and can easily be played with one hand.

Grand slam tennis 2

Presuming it's your right arm, your good! With a few controller muddles :)

lol! also another small handheld title is "temple run," that you can definetly manage with one hand. i played this a whole lot while on vacation since i had no xbox, its kind fun in a simple way.

not sure of too many xbox games, maybe halo wars? only thing i could think of is some strategy games that play a little slower so you arent forced to use both hands or quickly switch grip.

Full House Poker
Schizoid
Runescape (PC)

Are the only two I can think of right now.

I wouldn't know of holding a baby whilst gaming since I'm single.

A lot of turn based or card/board games would do the trick. A lot of games on Family Game Night don't need both hands, and Magic and Full House Poker are also fun card games.

Yeah but then you have to deal with the online community and what they are doing with said one hand. *Shudder*

Not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but as a father of five grown children myself I suggest you spend time with your daughter and worry about games later. The days of them sleeping in your arms donít last long, they grow up fast. Xbox will still be there later.

This. UNO can be a great game to grind away time with. And then later you can actually take it seriously.

Yeah but then you have to deal with the online community and what they are doing with said one hand. *Shudder*

Anytime I see cams going in a lobby, people tend to get booted if you don't know them. Unless it's gotten worse in the last year.

Then again, if they see a dude holding a kid playing UNO, they just might boot him by default anyway.

Yep, Agreed

I have a 17 month old now (I also have a 16 & 18yr old), who was only 5 lbs when she was born. I laid her on my chest and played Medal of Honor MP for hours when she was first born (was I glad when I hit Lvl 15, didn't even finish the match)

Now I don't get to play as much, but Playing with and teaching my daughter is a lot more rewarding, No matter how much I LOVE Gaming.

Ha!

How about Catan?

Someone mentioned Carcasonne, too, and I'm wondering about that game.
