Microsoft has today confirmed that it has dropped the recommended retail price of its HD DVD player. The RRP is now 114.99, down from 129.99. The 15 saving (approximately $30), will keep UK gamers slightly happier after the US price was recently cut to $179 from $199.

Whether it's enough to tempt people to buy one rather than a dedicated stand alone remains to be seen, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

You guys have been getting some great news in the U.K. lately.

With the price drop of the HD-DVD Drive and confirmed TV DLC, you guys are as happy as can be, huh? Well, nothing satisfies Webbie.:p

When we can get games at the same prize, and at the same time, then I guess we'll be happy :p

To tell you honestly, Minty...I wish your prices were the same as mines.

I was looking into a PAL 360 and it would've cost me an Arm and 2 Legs for it! What can I say? Pounds > USD. I guess I am not happy either.:p
