HOLY HELL this looks AMAZING!

Awesome new footage coming in from PAX 2012. This shows off a brand new map, Exile, and features some War Games action including the first look at the Gauss Hog, Tank and FLAGSASSINATIONS!

o00 i havent seen this map before, have to agree that shit looked amazing.

still kind of weird how much that guys voice changed, you know that creepy voice that announces your multi-kills n such. lol i guess im just used to him always sounding the same.

I like it - makes you feel like EVERYTHING you're doing is meaningful. I've been playing TONS of Halo 3 and it's irritating to not get assists and other recognition for team play/objective focus etc.

That being said, pistols with flag, FLAGSASSINATIONS! Holy hell this looks great. And the sounds of the Gauss tank is amazing, too.

I like it - makes you feel like EVERYTHING you're doing is meaningful. I've been playing TONS of Halo 3 and it's irritating to not get assists and other recognition for team play/objective focus etc.

couldnt agree more, i will say thats one aspect of Reach i fell in love with. mostly because it compliments my playstyle a lot, i typically end up with the most assists at the end of the match lol:p. especially since i always drive the vehicle whenever playing with friends, its nice when they constantly reward you with assist pts.

got to say the objective types are looking pretty damn good, im anxious to try CTF + oddball on halo4 now.

OMG The Tank and Gauss Hog look so OP. And what was that orange sphere? Equipment akin to the power drain?

whoa didnt even notice that, nice catch. it does kind of look like the powerdrain from H3 only red right? im surprised they never even announced what that was before, if they did i never heard about it.

i was going to say sidewinder but either way it does remind me of a map that you would see in the first Halo. i cant wait to see more of it

So I've come to the conclusion that everyone I'll see playing Halo 4 sucks...they really need to lower their look sensitivity or something.

So you can't drop the flag when you pick it up, and you pick up the flag automatically when you walk over it, so you won't have to press X or RB or whatever. Fascinating. I'm gonna miss juggling the flag like I always did in the previous games, but at least movement speed has increased when carrying the flag.

I actually wasn't paying attention to that in the video...not being able to drop the flag is actually REALLY upsetting. If it isn't possible to toggle that, I'm not going to be playing CTF anymore.

Visor Color

Unlike its predecessors, Halo 4 will offer a much wider range of Spartan customizability, ranging from armor pieces (http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/7890/article/halo-4-armor-and-helmets-detailed/) and camouflage to visor colors. Stance

Radar Depicts Vehicles

I disagree, you must be able to drop your flag when shooting it.
There is no way they would/could remove the dropping the flag option by shooting...

Picture this scenario, you are clearing out an area/base that are guarding the flag.
- If you walk over the flag whilst BRing, ...you pick it up?
- You realize this and shoot to drop it ...only to do a flag melee??

Makes no sense with the competitiveness of Halo.

Also being able to Juggle/Throw the flag to teamates, hard to reach levels/shortcuts. This would be a big downfall for CTF

i couldnt agree more, it just changes the entire feel of CTF for me. especially what you mentioned in that last paragraph, i just picture it turning into a mess.

it just seems like a bad idea to me honestly. simply walking over the flag will automatically make me pick it up, then you cant even drop it? i personally always take the role of guarding / carrying the flag in CTF, so for me this is really weird. i can just forsee this causing so much griefing between players.

Thanks for this! The magnum isn't a bad implementation actually. 5 shot kills close/mid range, plus a Damage resistance boost.

Wondering if you will look as though you have the beginnings of an overshield along with the damage boost to compensate. Also wondering how fast this damage boost takes place....

Say someone has just 3 shot me with the BR, and I step over the flag, now I essentially have 3 more shots I can take (and a 4th assuming my health has regenerated now by the 3rd too) - now depending on their distance from me, I essentially have evened the playing field and now have a chance. - only if it's an instantaneous damage boost

If not, it may only yield me an extra shot or two while I run for cover and wait for the nade to kill me.... or finish him off with the magnum if he's close enough.

Yeah I know... especially on small tight symmetrical maps (thinking of Amplified, Midship) this will be a mess!!

I don't know why they would do this. So now if I have Rockets in their base, and I happen to clear them all out and be the only one in there, I'm supposed to risk a flag capture by not grabbing the flag and waiting for my teammates to get there? Bullshit. Do they not realize this is going to cause people to not even touch the flag and just go for kills? There's a pretty solid reason no other game does this...

Why put a indicator over the flag carriers head as well? If they wanted teamwork, wouldn't call outs be just as effective? This also ties into what I said above...If I kill the entire enemy team and grab the flag and try to get back to base, they automatically know where I am. Yeah, it's a team based gametype, but I shouldn't have to rely on my teammates 24/7 to get the job done.

MAYBE I LIKED WEARING A BACKPACK 343! :(

They better have a classic CTF in the rotation, that's all I have to say.

Aside from a couple pretty decent across the map BR shots, he def plays like he's holding an AR.

Easy double kill @ 3:25 but thinks he's at a disadvantage being on that ledge...

@ 4:25 Can he not jump while holding the flag?, could have been an easy 'Flagssination' on the sniper had he been jumping around...

Painful to watch. But thanks for the CTF footage! :p

ya i was gonna say something, that kid "david" plays kind of bad. not to bash or anything, im sure nobody is on their A game playing a early beta version of some MP that hasnt come out yet. but wow, he was just getting slaughtered. agree it was painful to watch.

like j0ker said, i would be happy if they had classic CTF on rotation:). im not so sure about this mayhem, who knows maybe when the game releases it will all be playing great.

Could this be? The Jet pack is gone? I personally hated the jet pack, & all the extra armour stuff other than sprint. I think it ruined the balance and gameplay to the point where I only play the Snipers gametype if I play Reach.

I think if they wish to have those armour abilities it should have been placed in separate gametypes/modes. Plenty of people enjoy them. And plenty don't.

The only good thing that comes from playing with randoms on Halo now is the feeling when you're the only person on the team that went positive and you say to yourself, "Man I'm awesome."

I think you misunderstood that saying haha. When someone says they're 'putting on their backpack' it means they are going to carry the team. I ALWAYS have my backpack on when playing with randoms.

Also, the ThrusterPack is confirmed (basically evade nerfed), but the only gameplay shown of the Jetpack is in Spartan Ops, so no one knows for sure if it's going to be in Multiplayer.

It better be in multiplayer. Evade was the best armor ability in Reach besides armor lock. I was so annoyed when they removed it from the Spartan's loadouts in Reach. It really took away a lot of the fun I had trying to ninja people with evade.

Thanks for that! The duration is extremely nerfed, which in my opinion is a great thing. There also seems to be a limit on the sky boundary, which is kinda lame. I mean, if you take the time to get to a legit spot on the map with the new jetpack, then you should at least be able to stay there (granted you're not in some absurd out of the map spot that took you half the game to get to.)

The jetpack, they mentioned, should allow players to get to areas with just a bit more speed - not allow it to be the frustrating killing advantage it was in Reach. I'm totally cool with that.

There was enough room in one of our backpacks for our teammates - sometimes they wouldn't even have to be randoms :eek: ;)

I know how that is. I used to be all about custom game warm-ups before matchmaking in Halo 3 (Played like 50 custom games out of the 12 days I've been playing Reach. Pretty sad :(). Even had a clan (The 9th Player) that did a little bit of ClanBattles, but then Reach happened and all of that disappeared. The only time I play MM anymore is when I have at least 1 other person willing to play with me that's good. I hate losing :p, but as long as I go positive, I'm happy :)
